My name is Dzi Gandara, I am a designer graphic currently a 7th semester student of Binus University. I’d describe myself as the exact opposite of introverts; I like hanging out with my friends even doing as little as shopping or sitting around in cafes. I am a big fan of tea, my favorite is Earl Grey. Other than that, I am also keen on fashion and photography. In a day-to-day basis, not only do I go to college and do freelancing here and there, I also am a radio announcer in my campus. Other than that, I am an MC of various events every now and then. Now, from my hobby itself, I’m sure you can tell that I am a little bit talkative and just can’t sit still. Back to graphic design; I am a connoisseur of simple, minimalist, yet youthful design styles. I have a penchant to incorporate illustrations in my designs and works.

This is a magazine about life in Jakarta; from the recreational hotspots to local delicacies. For the cover in this edition, I composed a picture of Ontel Bikes – which is the main article of this particular issue. The color scheme I use are soft, yet mature, tones. For the logo, I utilize handwritten fonts to invoke a sense of familiarity to emphasize the concept of ‘My Jakarta’ – a city that belongs to us all.

Thomas Kemper is a brand of carbonated drinks under the label of Kemper Thomas Soda Co. The soda is well-known for its soda which consists of natural ingredients with handmade processing. To retain the classic feel, the design of the packaging were made with the old-timey styles in mind; starting with the static vibes, to the centered alignments. The illustrations were manually made with watercolor to invoke a stylistically vintage feel – representing the vintage nature of the product. The detailed drawings of fruits and various natural elements were integrated to point out the natural ingredients used in the making of the soda

This is an annual event organized by the students of the Microbiology major of ITB. This year, the theme of Fermenstation 2014 is “The Taste of Local Wisdom�; where you can find an exhibition of various Indonesian fermented foods, work shops, and many more. The logo I made for this event is in the shape of a fruit (representing food) comprised of the pattern of Batik Kawung (representing the traditional culture of Indonesia). I also used the color brown and organic patterns to give an ethnic and elegant feel to it.

I was assigned to redesign the packaging of this food product with a typographical approach. Being a biscuit for babies, I used soft colors in the design. I also composed the name of the product in the shape of an apple – in keeping with the flavor of the product itself.

This is an Indonesian clothing brand made by Indonesian youths. The brand’s distinct style is the simple, modern, and generally youthful vibe. I created the logo for Natural Cut with a sans-serif font for a modern feel. The black also complements the font in giving the brand a simple and edgy image, in addition to a modern feel. To fit the namesake – Natural Cut – I complement the designs with paper bags, price tags, and many more using a recycled-paper look. Which gives a natural and handmade look to it

An annual BVoice Radio event celebrating its anniversary. In the 17th year, the theme is “The History of Frequency” – telling the history of radio from the beginning. In keeping with the theme, I used 2 contrasting color schemes in the design. On the left hand, I used a monochromatic for the old-timey feel. And on the right hand, bright and vibrant colors are used along with EDM overtones – giving off a youthful vibe.

This is the design of a sticker for the packaging of a pannacotta product. The sticker for the cup was made with a pattern manually made with an illustration – a trademark of this brand. And the design of the cup for the topping was intentionally made in a simplistic style to keep the highlight on the pannacotta itself. The logo was made in an also simplistic style; with a handwriting font to give it a friendly and playful feel. The apostrophe was depicted as if it slipped on something shaped like an oval to represent the softness of the product and give an accent to the logo.

This is an e-commerce website in the field of fashion of lifestyle. The targeted demographics are youths with a taste for fashion. The design I made for the site is understated, yet bold and edgy, with the usage bright colors, black, and white.

H U T A M A This is a mini market selling various foods and any other products. With the target demographic of youths, I created the Hutama website with a 2D illustration approach. The color used are limited for the convenience of the viewers. The concept is bringing the experience of shopping traditionally to the online world. For that reason, I illustrated the front view of the mini market. And for the menu, I drew a picture of each category of products we can find – food, beverages, etc – on a shelf. As for the How to Buy menu, I designed this part to be as attractive as possible to pique the interests of the viewers.

This is an illustration project for a class assignment. While this is a group project, I am in charge of all the illustration parts; starting from the characters, outfits, to the settings. ‘Less Fleurs De Paris’ tells the tale of a girl’s jealousy of her twin sister. Following her sister’s sudden disappearance – somehow caused by her – the girl found out that her sister was abducted by an evil ruler from a bizarre world. Filled with regret, the girl embarks on a journey to the bizarre and scary world to save her sister and take her home.
