While in the polytechnic, I was exposed to various kind of projects and assignments which shaped me to be aware about the surroundings when execung a design project. I realised that detail understanding about the needs of the user is important to create a good experience beyond the funconality of the spaces . I am now equipped to do Autocad, BIM and other 3d modelling sowares. Aside from my studies ,I do part me work and engaged in arts and theatre during my poly. I also play football at club level on weekends. These acvies allowed me to become a team player and independent individual. My vision is that a career in architecture can be stepping stone for me to build a sustainable future and contribute to the community through the projects. KEY INTERESTS BIM Manager, Greenmark Specialist

The design concept of this tower is to represent the life of the dweller in different segment of each levels. The dweller has a lot of personality in him in relation to the dweller is based on how he associates his behaviour towards the space around him and the villagers that is connected to in his daily life routine. The dweller persona is a pious muslim thus his everyday routine is to spread messages either to the other villagers or the things he did as well as towards the pigeons which is so called his favourite messenger to communicate to his creator. The dwelling tower showcases his personality and life cycle of him which comprises of the 3 aspect; eat, sleep and entertainment. The design approach is made up of Islamic architectural geometry which relates to him as a paranoia mosque guardian. Each architectural elements algorithm is design to suit his behaviour and the magic layers in him which correspond to the space of each level zones of the dwelling tower. Every levels depicts a different attitude of him from the moment he woke up till he fall a sleep. The overall tower imparts the vulnerability imperfections of humans .The facade is constructed to reveal his flaws at the topmost of the tower to the most concealed space which covered him internally at the most bottom part of the tower where he will reflect upon his mistakes and prayed to the creator. The measurement of the tower follows the exact human body figure which Islamic architecture uses.

An invention to tackle wastage of natural resources, the Self-Contained Dispersing Farm is conceptualised after the Genius Of (Lichen). Its main structure lichen’s bulk is made of interwoven fungal filaments that gather mositure and nutrients from the environment. The photobiont layers is where the photosynthesis occurs for self sustaining itself and providing to the other eco-system. It is the anchor for its structure. The green solar roof represents the whole absorbing system in the fungal filaments of a lichen structure. The photobiont layer acts as a core for production phase in the farm. The algae and fungus in the lichen acts as an air indicator around its surroundings thus the elevated smog tower was constructed to act as a main air quality control for the farm performance

PREMILINARY RESEARCH Importance of Lichens

surface view of the growth in timelapse motion

Early Colonisers: Lichens are early or pioneer colonisers of barren dry and naked rocks, cliffs, mountains and new terrains. During their growth lichens etch the rocks and cliffs by secreting acids. It produces minute crevices where organic matter accumulates. It paves the way for growth of mosses and grasses.

Food: food source for animals in area where water supply is limited Air Pollution: Decrease in lichen population of an area is indicative of air pollution particularly SO2 pollution Lichens are vital in nature for: - Oxygen and carbon dioxide cycles - Soil formation - Food for certain animals. - cynobacteria in lichens fixes atmospheric nitrogen. making it available for plants - lichen breaks down rocks physically and chemically which helps in soil development

Associated Members of Lichens:

The composite plant body of lichen consists of algal and fungal members. The algal members belong to Chlorophyceae (Trebouxia, Trentepohlia, Coccomyxa etc.), Xanthophyceae (Heterococcus) and also Cyanobacteria (Nostoc, Scytonema etc.) The fungal members mainly belong to Ascomycotina and a few to Basidiomycotina. Among the members of Ascomycotina, Discomycetes are very common; producing huge apothecia, others belong to Pyrenomycetes or Loculoascomycetes.

ECOLOGY Lichens must compete with plants for access to sunlight, but because of their small size and slow growth, they thrive in places where higher plants have difficulty growing. A major eco-physiological advantage of lichens is that they are poikilohydric (poikilo- variable, hydric- relating to water), meaning that though they have little control over the status of their hydration, they can tolerate irregular and extended periods of severe drought. Like some mosses, liverworts and ferns, upon desiccation, lichens enter a metabolic suspension or stasis in which the cells of the lichen are dehydrated to a degree that halts most biochemical activity. In this state, lichens can survive wider extremes of temperature, radiation and drought in the harsh environments they often inhabit. Lichens do not have roots and do not need to tap continuous reservoirs of water like most plants, thus they can grow in locations impossible for most plants, such as bare rock, sterile soil or sand, and various artificial structures such as walls, roofs and monuments. Lichens are active when wet and inactive when dry. Many lichens also grow as epiphytes (epi- on the surface, phyte- plant) on other plants, particularly on the trunks and branches of trees. When growing on other plants, lichens are not parasites.they do not consume any part of the plant nor poison it. Stability of their substrate is a major factor of lichen habitats. Most lichens grow on stable rock surfaces or the bark of old trees, but many others grow on soil and sand. lichen cross section diagram - different parts and its functions protective skin

Reproduction of Lichens: Lichens multiply by four methods: (i) Progressive death and decay resulting in the separation of a lichen into two or more parts, (ii) Fragmentation caused by mechanical injury due to wind, trampling or animal bites, (iii) Isidia are superficial outgrowths of the lichens which are primarily meant for increasing surface area and photosynthetic activity. At times, they are broken off. Each isidium is capable of forming new lichen because it has a core of algal cells surrounded by a sheath of fungal hyphae. (iv) Soredia. They are microscopic lichen propagules which are produced in large numbers inside sori called pustules . Soredia are dispersed by air currents. After falling on a suitable substratum each soredium gives rise to a lichen because it has a few algal cells surrounded incompletely by a weft of fungus.

W optics has enganged NYP for thier new outlet opening in jewel changi airport. It is a design competition where they will choose the best design that fits to thier needs. Our objective to put emphasis on eye care which is in conjunction with the company’s vision: Vision For Life,To be your lifetime eyecare provider. My team design magic is We Care for you (Eyecare for You),Prescription before fashion

PREMILINARY RESEARCH MATERIAL BOARD

Concept design: - Dome shape refraction room Shaped like a dome to which resembles the eye ball. Customers are able to view the prescription glasses easily as they are displayed diagonally from the entrance of the refraction room. The refraction room is also not fully-enclosed so that there is a bit of an element of ‘mystery’ from both outside and inside of the room. - The prescription glasses are displayed in a suspension-like furniture to make it look more multi-dimensional as well as maximising the number of displays. - Wood is used as the material for the display of the glasses. There is also a green wall located behind the counter. Since we want to make the customers feel relaxed as soon as they enter the store, we decided on introducing elements such as the wooden furniture and the green walls as they represent nature.

CONCEPT

Focus on the dome shaped refraction room AKA the dome. Lights shine on it like some hollywood sign, and its special, like an attraction on its own. Inside the dome, there will be a curtain/door that would keep the room dark when needed.Consultations may also take place in this dome.
