Title:

Hospital Design

Objective: To prepare an architectural brief that would help the architect to build a functional, economical and efficient hospital. One hundred and thirty (100) bed hospital has to be designed as an eight (8) weeks project. Structured into three (3) segments. 1) One week for research; two weeks for design development and concept; 2) Two weeks mid jury; 3) Last three weeks for formation and synthesis of final design. The Site is a 3,000 square yards DHA purpose built amenity plot in phase 8, opposite to the place and situated between Tipu Sultan and Khayaban- e- Faisal 2. When designing, you are to leave margin for any expansion or formulation of a future university hospital. You are required to write your own program-me in sync with your tutors, which should be stimulated out of your own research and thorough analysis. You are to design a comprehensive hospital facility which meets the PMDC standards, in lieu with the DHA bye-laws 2013 onwards. Your design should accomodate: 1) Detail of Rooms. • • • • • •

Semi Private wing with twenty beds Private wing with thirty beds Maternity ward with thirty beds Intensive care unit with ten beds Peadiatric wing with ten beds Five (5) ward consisting of twenty beds

2) Out patient’s department with ten (10) doctors along with patient’s waiting area. 3) Pathology, Radiology, MRI, CT- Scan, X- RAY, Ultra sound and ECG diagnostic facility. 4) An emergency with 8 beds along with a doctor’s and nurse’s station. 5) Pharmacy built on a 1000 square feet, at least.


6) Ancillary facilities such as toilets/ photocopy machine and kiosks. 7) Cafeteria which accommodates for the patients and the people visiting the hospital.
