February 2010 to date Lecturer Teaching as a lecturer in Architecture and Design department of COMSATS Lahore. Have been teaching Architecture Design Studio at 4Th year, 3rd year and 2nd year levels. Additional information INTERNSHIPS/VOLUNTEERING August 2010 UN Habitat (Pakistan) Volunteer Flood Affected Areas. N.G.O Volunteered and assisted with UN Habitat in Disaster assessment of flood affected areas of Punjab, focusing on the most affected southern parts of the province. Visited affected villages and documented different construction techniques and methods March-April 2008 Aga Khan Culture Support (AKCSP Pakistan). N.G.O The Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) joined the Government of the Punjab and the World Bank support of a project for the regeneration, renewal, and conservation of Lahore’s Walled City. This programme represents an unusual opportunity to apply the best practices of urban regeneration and conservation planning in the context of historic cities in Punjab, starting with the Lahore Walled City project as a base case. As an Architect I was involved in documentation and preparing of different design proposals. June 2006 – July 2006 Karvan Pakistan N.G.O On October 2005 work in the Earthquake hit areas of Northern Pakistan was started by this organization’s community and youth outreach programme, Karavan Pakistan. Joined this project in June 2006 as a volunteer junior architect, HFP. Coordinated in designing and construction of KAPIT houses (www.heritagefoundationpak.com). Coordinated in documentation and compilation of Tourist Maps of Siran Valley. Coordinated and managed the initial Karavan Gher site, under the superb guidance of Mrs. Yasmeen Lari October 2005 – January 2006 National College of Arts Relief Shelters Bagh Educational On 8th October 2005 a massive earthquake of 7.4 hit the Northern areas of Pakistan. A large no of cities and villages were destroyed by this Quake .National college of arts took the initiative of building of earthquake relief shelters in Bagh and surrounding villages (Azad Jammu Kashmir). Iap convention 50 years of architecture in Pakistan. 2007 As a Technical Expert I attended training on Remedial Measures held in HRC (Housing Reconstruction Centre) Bagh AJK. I was trained to Rectify the faults that existed in new construction in order to achieve maximum compliance according to the minimum standards set by ERRA (Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority) Training on Remedial measures. UN-HABITAT 2007 As a technical Expert I attended training on Proper construction of retaining walls held in HRC (Housing Reconstruction Centre) Dhirkot AJK. Many sites in the affected area are located on steeply sloping lands. Retaining walls are part of the construction of terraces to create level agricultural and building lands and are sometimes integrated into the construction of buildings Training on Retaining walls. 2007 Attended training on earthquake resistant construction in HRC (Housing Reconstruction Centre) Rawalakot. In this training they taught basic construction techniques that existed in that area (Dhajji dewari, Bhattar and Confined masonry).Basic concepts of earthquake Resistant constructions were also taught. ACADEMIC THESIS / DISSERTATION • Researched and Wrote the B.Arch. Thesis Report titled ‘Rebuilding Saccha’(provided sustainable solutions for reconstruction of the village and documented almost every structure built after the earthquake). • Wrote an article regarding the Memorial Day Ceremony in earthquake affected areas on completion of two years.
