Thanks to the training and tools included in the program, the beneficiaries are now capable of assembling more complex couture garments like a women’s suit, tailored skirt, and men’s dress pants with waistbands and linings.

By assembling marketable garments like jeans for women, men, and children, made with light 6-8 oz. fabrics, the beneficiaries were able to fully comprehend the techniques taught through the Sewing-Course Kit DVD which is included as part of the Mujeres Autosustentables Program.

The skills that the beneficiaries learned during this training session will allow them to create garments which they can market later on when they start their business. For example: school girl uniforms (jumpers), and unisex uniforms. By training as a group the beneficiaries get to learn from the successes of their peers, and are able to work together and help each other master different techniques. And they are now even talking about establishing a Community Workshop!

The beneficiaries proudly display the results of their labor and the instruction received during the training session. We should mention that this group of beneficiaries has counted with the constant support of the Municipal President of Cihuatlan, who wants to strengthen the program as a tool to help his constituents achieve economic independence.
