Program: Apparel workshops for women from rural and low income communities in Mexico


Puebla

The first hour of the training session is dedicated to strengthening the values and expectations of the beneficiaries through the Human Development component that is addressed every training day.

Third training session for our group of 27 beneficiaries in Zautla, Puebla. It took place on Friday, January 21, 2011.

This is the daughter of a program beneficiary, she is only 11 years old and she already made her own school uniform. She never misses any of her mother’s training sessions since she knows that her constant support is helping her mother succeed in this new venture.

During each session the instructor dedicates ample time to personally answer all the questions or concerns that the beneficiaries might have regarding the sewing process.

As part of the learning process beneficiaries are taught how to properly utilize the sewing patterns, since they are one of the most versatile tools they will have in their workshops.

Martina GarcĂ­a Hernandez and Elodia GarcĂ­a MartĂ­nez, two of Mujeres Autosustentables beneficiaries who are working to improve the quality of their lives and become self-sustaining women!

The program instructor often goes to the workshops that program beneficiaries are installing in their own homes.
