A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTORS Welcome to Our Town. This year, Mulgrave is continuing to embrace community through this play and our own rehearsal process. The students you will see on stage have become an ensemble over the past 5 months - they’ve helped each other in times of need, and celebrated each other in times of success. You’re about to witness a story that celebrates life’s fleeting beauty. Our young actors will impress you beyond what is imaginable -- their maturity, while tackling subject material they may have not even experienced yet, is a true sign of a talented and dedicated actor. The technical and backstage crew have grown leaps

and bounds as a group, working professionally alongside their mentor, Mr. Zechner, as they build, dress, and light the world we all dreamed of back in September. Our story tonight revolves around the “terrible” beauty of the moon, and we hope to echo that beauty in our performance. Thank you and I hope you enjoy the show!
I cannot clearly explain in words how amazing it is/was to watch a show being made from the very start. Beginning when my own peers (teenage students!) got up the courage and energy to audition, then next when you are absolutely amazed by the power of blocking and learning lines, then jump ahead and you get to see extra elements like music, headshots, and of course, costumes and lighting and the whole deal come to life. And all because of an ensemble’s idea, a dream of the outcome, and the awesome opportunities we have here at Mulgrave. The cast becomes a family, and you can watch different grades

and personalities come together to create the show that you will see tonight. Thank you so much to everyone who helped out, who supported the process, including those who were beyond patient with us teenagers, and those who gave up their own time (time is a big gift in this day and age)! Please enjoy the show!
PLAY DESCRIPTION Thorton Wilder’s 1938 Pulitzer Prize–winning play Our Town is a story that travels through time - both in plot and meaning. The story explores the everyday lives of the people who live in a small New England town, Grover’s Corner. We, the audience, are able to uncover the magic that happens in ordinary things human beings experience - living, falling in love, and dying. We watch the characters grow over 10 years and discover what it truly means to be human. Our Town is a classic play that continuously leaves its viewers with a deeper appreciation for the everyday things that are actually extraordinary.
