GC PHASE III EXPANSION

The exterior hardscape and softscape designs of the GC Phase III Expansion are intended to create a seamless transition between the interior and exterior spaces, with the specific goal in preserving the natural topography. Built elements are planned to sit ‘lightly’ on the land. The selection of trees responds to both the local climate and the master planning of the GC Phase III Expansion with tree types playing a key role in the creation of ‘shaded spaces’, private pavilions and communal areas.

Responsibilities:

- Architectural Design Development - Concept & Schematic Report Preperation - Landscape Design Development - Working Drawings (Plans, Sections, etc) - Presentation Drawings (Photoshop) - Site Analysis, Research and Diagramming

2.2.4 Master Plan Phase III - Pedestrian Network

The landscape strategy reflects the landscape character, including the green corridors and parks, in the adjoining Green Community development.

The hard scape is formed of a network of footpaths similar to the existing network, and providing the residents with direct links to the recreation facility and beyond.

The soft scape incorporates screen planting along boundaries, feature planting at nodes of interest, and provide natural shading. Centrally located tots lots (children’s play areas) also provide a node of activity for all residents.

2.2.3 Master Plan Phase III - Road Network

The primary development access leads from Detroit Avenue located directly opposite the existing Green Community Entrance. The proposed street network circumnavigates the development to form one closed loop with three spur roads. A secondary entrance leading from Munich Avenue to the North serves the apartment plot.

The Right of Way (ROW) widths are formed of a 6 metre wide two way road, and 6 metre planted verges on either side, totalling 18 metres. The verges accommodate a sidewalk and landscape realm integrated with driveways leading up to the individual parking garages of the townhouse plots.
