At Mullan Lighting we are proud of the accreditations we have earned to ensure our products are not only manufactured to the highest standards, but are sustainably produced, limiting our impact on the environment around us. Below is a short explanation of some of the symbols and quality assurance marks found on our website and in our catalogue.

UKCA: The UK Comformity Assessment (UKCA) mark is a UK product marking required for products being sold in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). It covers most products that previously required the CE mark.

CE Mark: The CE mark is a mandatory conformity marking for certain products - including light fixtures - sold within the European Economic Area (EEA) and indicates the compliance with EU legislation of a product. It is also found on products that are manufactured in the EEA but sold outside the EEA and is therefore an internationally recognisable symbol of compliance to EU legislation regarding product safety, health, quality and environmental protection. It is similar to the FCC Declaration of Conformity used on certain electronic goods sold in the United States.

UL Listed: The UL symbol means the product, after a series of testing, meets the UL nationally recognized Standards of Safety. UL is an American non-profit organization dedicated to public safety and Mullan Lighting is proud to have the majority of its products UL listed.

SASO: The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organisation (SASO) is a standards and conformity authority in Saudi Arabia. Goods being imported into Saudi Arabia must be accompanied by a Certificate of Conformity (CoC). This certification is available on request.

Class I: A Class I (Class 1) appliance is one that must have its body connected to electrical earth by a separate earth conductor. The earth connection is achieved using a 3-core cable.

Waterproof Symbol: This water droplets symbol indicates that the product is moistureresistant and suitable for use in bathrooms and outdoors. The product has a minimum IP rating of IP44 (most are IP54 or greater), meaning it is protected from water spray from any direction.

Class II: A Class II (Class 2) or double insulated electrical appliance (light fixture) is one which has been designed in such a way that it does NOT require a safety connection to electrical earth (ground). An added layer of safety against electrical shock is acheived by using double layers of insulating material or reinforced insulation protecting any live parts of the fitting.
