In 2021, the MULS Competitions team, under the leadership of Phillippa Rich, have managed to find the perfect balance between online and in-person competitions as well as working tirelessly to grow the number of competitors and competitions we are able to offer our members. All our internal competitions, which included Negotiations, Senior Client Interview, Criminal Law Moot and Championship Moot, were run seamlessly with a recordbreaking number of participants. This is a real testament to the dedication and drive of the Competitions team. We have also increased the offering of intervarsity competitions that our members are able to participate in. In collaboration with the Sydney University Law Society we had students compete in the inaugural ADR Competition as well as the highly prestigious Sir John Peden Contract Law Moot. We were also able to send students to compete in other intervarsities including a multilateral corporate law moot and ALSA competitions.

I also want to highlight the hard work of the Competitions team in expanding our workshop offerings in Semester 1 to include two mooting workshops, the professional skills workshop and the brand new mooting judging workshop. I commend the Competitions Department on their success this semester and for continuing to provide opportunities for members to develop their legal and professional skills. I look forward to all the competitions, both new (Diversity and Pride Moot) and long-running that will be available in Semester 2. I thank all the staff, students and Alumni for their support of our Competitions Department. "We actually had 28 teams in the negotiations comp and I am still really proud of how many people participated, especially since we had a very wide range of different years across the teams. I’m convinced that this high number was due to the preliminary rounds being online, so it was great to see so many people excited to take part.
