MULS is committed to advancing the education of our memberships by providing a suite of opportunities designed to equip students with critical, academic skills. The Director (Education), Sami Shamsi, and Executive Officer (Campus Experience), Kristy Spinelli, have hosted a wide variety of highly successful initiatives including Thomson Reuters Legal Research and AGLC4 Referencing Workshops. Entering its third season, Sami and the team have been hard at work producing new episodes of Justified, which have included an interview with Dean of Macquarie Law School, Professor Lise Barry, and a clerkship-focused episode with representatives from Herbert Smith Freehills.

After several disrupted O-Weeks over the last few years, the Education Portfolio created a fantastic stall at the 2022 Session 1 OWeek and hosted exciting events such as LLB and JD Panels and a first-of-its-kind Exhibition Moot. Additionally, MULS collaborated with Macquarie Law School on two Law School welcomes, and we also held a First Year Afternoon Tea, which also received great engagement.

The Education Subcommittee comprised of Amy Ridley (Diversity Representative), Jasmine Saluja (External Representative), Breanna Ivankovic and Olivia Holland (First Year Representatives) have provided invaluable support to the Education Portfolio. Amy and Jasmine have done an incredible job in always looking for ways to make MULS more inclusive and accessible for the diverse student base within our members. Breanna and Olivia have been absolutely critical in supporting the reintroduction of first years events such as the First Year Afternoon Tea and the First Year Law Camp.

Keep an eye out for further Justified episodes on Oral Advocacy and Competitions and also on International Human Rights as well as some exciting initiatives for World Mental Health Day in Semester 2!
