Every thing in life is blanketed in purpose, which leaves clues. I want you to take every opportunity that life throws you. I personally have experienced the death of four people in my age group in one week, as I still try to fathom the meaning behind all this, I can't help but to impress upon you, the importance of knowing your eternal destiny, your purpose, seize every opportunity and leave a legacy. With those words in mind, the articles in this issue take on new shadings. I hope you learn, is motivated and enjoy!

Medgine – being a woman of color, my superpower is having the strength of a warrior because every day is a true fight. One of our best skillset, is our ability to work with very little, and make it work. There have been times, where our creativity, and GOD'S grace, has made an entire look come together; whether it be a mixing with what a client had in their closet, or maybe even an item pulled from the Pardon Our Style vault. Women not being able to collaborate and win in business is a myth, every business relationship takes work and communication as long as the lines of communication are open you are able to make things happen and win big! Women are sometimes pitted against each other, but we believe that everyone has a talent and or gift, to contribute, and there is never a need to dim anyone’s light to shine. Natea - The advice I would give to my younger self would be to stay focused and really think about what it is I want, take action, make a plan and execute it. They do not need a grand introduction, actually, you may be the one who will need to introduce yourself to this dynamic duo: yes, we are talking about the Miami style queens and J. Bolin's mentees, Pardon Our Style. These two young ladies graced our studios recently for a radio interview with Houston's media house, Blessed Beatz Media, there was no doubt that we were in the presence of future stars. We had to start the conversation, here's what ensued when our CEO asked the question, "who is Pardon Our Style"? "Pardon our Style is made up of two fabulous women with two stories and two perspectives but one objective, to help you find your stylish self-inside and out! Together we bring you an unstoppable team. We met through a fashion production company, we knew we both loved fashion and wanted to pursue a career in fashion.
We just didn’t know where to begin. We both felt as if we weren’t growing within the company. We yearned for more experience and freedom to grow in the fashion industry So, Natea had a brilliant idea of us teaming up. At first, I (Medgine) was skeptical because, I thought our styles were so different, which then became the appeal". I had questions for the ladies individually, snot just as a duo, it was important for us to differentiate who was Natea and who was Medgine and why we had to pardon their style. "As a Black woman/woman of color, what do you consider your superpower to be"? Natea -as women of color, I believe that knowing that we belong in any room and being able to build our own path having awesome mind control is my superpower.
Medgine – follow that inner voice, she got you. Your instincts will be your map. Medgine – Balance HAHA! There is no balance, I constantly feel like there’s always something that needs to be done. I wish there was a master class on balance, I would sign up tomorrow. I always feel like I am lacking somewhere. Natea – First I try and take life one day at a time; I want to focus on all the most important things in life but at the same time live in the moment. Medgine - When someone tries to constantly wear trends, instead of wearing what works best for you. Your confidence will always be your best accessory. Natea – Feeling like wearing the most expensive designers automatically makes you look better than everyone else, when in reality you can shop at a thrift store and look just as dope while spending less.
Natea – Barack Obama – There are so many greats, but to be the first African American to be elected to the presidency is such an accomplishment to be able to sway a nation that someone that looks like him could be president is truly having a superpower of his own. He taught us that it’s ok to love and respect despite our differences. Medgine - Nina Simone she was one of the first African American singers who didn't look like anyone else or try to fit it, she made you believe and remember the beauty of a black woman. Her voice and fashion was so powerful it made you connect with her. What are your thoughts on taking risks? Making mistakes? We believe that taking risk is a must that’s the only way you will succeed. Devin Franklin said it best “when you operate in your purpose even your mistakes work towards your good”. What are 3 success habits we implement into our daily routine to maintain your success/ sanity/peace of mind, etc.? Prayer, Mediation, Evaluation As successful women in business, our greatest/proudest achievements together and individually are a myriad. Together thus far is having the opportunity to not only work with The Celebrity Stylist J Bolin, but to have a real intimate conversation about fashion. His spirit is so genuine it's hard to find people like him who are willing to share their knowledge of the industry with others. We are so thankful God choose Jbolin to be a part of our journey. Medgine my biggest accomplishment thus far, would be pursuing my dream in fashion. Natea biggest accomplishment for me thus far is being able to express myself through fashion and being able to catch the eyes of our clients, and being able to serve them, while doing what I love which is creating great looks. We want people to pursue whatever it is you want to accomplish, and believe in your own magic!! Pursue that purpose, GOD made you unique, the world deserves and needs to know it. You should HIRE Pardon Our Style, because we want to help you find your stylish self inside out, our services, begin with getting to know you, so we can help you shine, a little brighter. There are very few style duo’s that can bring you a little funk, with a little class, and top it off with some originality.

JANE HARRIS The Dancing Wig Maker
From Fantasy to Reality Chef Ed Harris, Basketball Wives' connection and the family empire
Tell our readers who Jane is. Jane is a woman deeply rooted in spirituality. A mom of three; two ladies and one gentleman. Wife to an amazing chef. That enjoys reading self-improvement, dancing and making wigs. What is the Name of your business, and how did you get started? The name of my business is, The Virgin Hair Fantasy. I chose that name because as a wigmaker, I turn women’s' hair dreams (fantasy) into reality. I got started after becoming a mom. I was working hard with limited for family. I wanted something I could do that would give me the freedom to
attend my children's birthday party. I started part time, and just grew from there.
always searching and learning, and that thirst is what sets me apart.
As a black woman, what do you think your superpower is?
What would you say to people who say that women can't collaborate and win in business, given your partnership with Basketball Wives, Malaysia?
I would have to say my conscience is my superpower. It guides me in all aspects of my life, from making decisions in business, to making decisions as a wife and mother, even as a sister. What key qualities or skill makes you unique as an African American female leader? My thirst for knowledge helps me stand out. I've been in this business for 11 years and I still think there's more to learn and study. I go to conferences and read books. I'm
It's not true. We're in the day and age where women are more aware of their power. We're coming together to build businesses and set up shop all over. I think the right group of women can come together and create magic.
BETTER TOGETHER What thoughtful, encouraging piece of advice would you give to your younger self? I would tell her to keep going. You got this, don't doubt yourself. Keep going, keep pushing! So you're building an empire. Please tell our readership how you met your prince Charming, Chef. I read a book called The Art of Seduction. I was busy, I didn't have much time, as a working professional working 50 plus hours a week, but I knew I had to date. I didn't have time to waste. I needed to get a mate, but not just any mate, the RIGHT one. So I made sure to ask questions in the beginning. I met Chef at 40/40. I knew he had a job, I knew he was a chef. I was just straight forward with everything. That book helped me be confident on the dating scene. How is it working and growing together? It's amazing, Chef Ed has a wonderful work ethic. We both do. We have the ability to put everything aside, and get the work done. I'm very proud of that, and us. We've done that for 11 years and it makes me proud. So if you could thank any black woman, history maker, in her contribution to society, who would it be?
Madam CJ Walker. I would thank her, because if she could do it, if she could succeed back then, with all the obstacles, so can I. Why is it important for the more seasoned, mature, black woman to reach back and help other black women? Because, it's the right thing to do. As a community, we can only grow when we reach back. You don't have to know everything, just reach back and share what you know. Even if it's just managing life as a mom, it's helpful information that someone else can benefit from. What qualities or values do you deem indispensable in your partners and collaborators? Kindness can conquer the world. I look for people that are kind, and genuine. People with good hearts, that are real. Put the titles and everything aside for authenticity. Those are my people. What are your thoughts on taking risks and making mistakes? Take all the risks you can. My motto recently is, "Fail more." It's how you learn. You can't be afraid to fail. When, and if you fail, you come out on the other side with knowledge. What are three success habits you implement into you daily routine to maintain your success, sanity peace of mind.
I wake up every morning with a gratitude list. I thank God, first and foremost for waking me up. Next, I write my to-do list for the day. Also, when I can, I exercise. As a successful businesswoman, what is your greatest, proudest achievement? It was December 2018 when I wrote a blog about how insurance companies can pay for your wig. It let me see the good I can do in the world. I have women reach out to me to say thank you, and that makes me so happy. What do you hope readers take away from your story, and why they should support The Virgin Hair Fantasy? I want people to know that I'm real, and very transparent. My journey started with hair, but has taken me so much further. And by my story, letting people know they can reach amazing heights by being genuine, and more importantly, kind.

Many of us growing up had a favorite
toy, a favorite friend or a favorite cousin. Hey who am I kidding here you probably still do. Well, meet Casey a character created by Author and Educator, Carletta Lawwrence. Casey is a recent second grade graduate who is about to enter the third grade. Casey's dad told her that he was going to build a tree house. She knew right away that adventure was waiting for her on the limbs of the big oak tree in the backyard. This is a book that anybody and every can read to themselves or to their advanced second grader or current third grader. I believe that they will thoroughly be entertained as well as motivated to dream of what great adventure they can embark on. Here is another reason to fall in love with Casey, she was not created by someone trying to be a creator. Casey was created by someone who appreciates imagination because she sees it every day on the faces of her students, in the classroom and in their notebooks. Working with children has a way of allowing you to appreciate the innocence of a world that is free of
evil or negativity and for that Multiple Streams Magazine congratulate and applaud Miss Carletta Lawrence. Who is Carletta? Carletta Lawrence is not only a writer, but a passionate teacher with Florida’s public-school system for approximately 14 years. She holds a Bachelors in Elementary Education (K-6) and a Masters in Reading Education (K-12). As an educator, Carletta has always focused on instilling a love for reading and writing in her students by simply tapping into their interests and activating their imagination. She often drafted short stories with her class by pulling on their ideas and showing them how to bring those thoughts to life. Her students have always raved over the stories she wrote with them in class and would often ask, “When is your book coming out?” With a love for writing and desires to reach even more young readers, Carletta decided it was time to share her creative work with a larger audience beyond her precious students. Carletta also shares her story or testimony of sorts with young girls
We use the phrase :it takes a community to raise a child” a lot... As an educator I also believe that it takes great imagination to keep a child dreaming who desires mentorship. She uses both her fondest and not so fun memories and experiences to educate and empower these girls on becoming better for themselves and for their predecessors. Carletta is fun loving and enjoys music, friends, family and a good laugh. The Salt v s Sugar Christian Pastor Tavares Robinson
means to be salt. In fact, many would rather be considered “sweet” than “salty.” Why? Salt requires too much out of believers. It means we have to keep our emotions in check and not allow them to drive us mad. Being salt means walking by the Spirit. It means speaking the truth even though you’re aware that you can receive backlash for professing irritating words. Living as salt means refusing to compromise because choosing the world makes you hostile toward God. While salt is beneficial for our spiritual survival, many abandon its nutrients and settle for short-lived highs received from sugar. A Christian living off sugar is easily irked by sound doctrine. Shocking? No. The Spirit of God speaking through the apostle Paul warned that a time will come when people would not endure or put up with true teaching (2 Tim. 4:3). These are the type of individuals who perceives that “it doesn’t take all of that to serve God.” These are the Christians who can be found crying during worship, yet disconnected during the pastor’s message. They have no idea what “Fear God” means; therefore, they lack wisdom that’s needed to live for Him.
W
hen we visit our primary care physician, we know that part of our annual checkup consists of a blood tests. This examination exposes all that we cannot see or feel. In fact, just when you think your eating habits are acceptable, your results may say otherwise and reveal how much of a transformation you really need. What if, one day, you visited Christ, the Great Physician? And during this visit, He decides to examine what is within you, just so you become aware. Will you hear, “Well done” for taking proper care of your body? Or, will Christ question your eating habits, will He find as a result high blood sugar levels and a lack of minerals? We live in an age where the spiritual health of many Christians is deteriorating. This is not because believers aren't eating at all, NO; their failing health is a result of choosing a sugary spiritual diet. Today’s Christian does not know what it
Take the fig tree, for example, that Jesus curses in Matthew 21. Scripture tells us that Jesus approached the tree because He was hungry, and saw nothing but leaves (v.19). The verse goes on and Jesus says, “’May you never bear fruit again!’ Immediately the tree withered.” This tree represented the Nation of Israel. Fig trees took three years to bear fruit, and Jesus had already spent three years preaching to the Jewish people. From a distance, they had an appearance that they were being transformed by His word, but when He gets closer, Jesus discovers otherwise. The fact that leaves were visible signified that the ground was fertile and the tree should possess fruit. But it couldn’t offer one fig, and as a result, Jesus cursed the tree to prevent others from becoming deceived by the nation’s futile appearance. Sugar has been the standard for too long. And that’s because it’s always been much easier to compromise than to suffer for being salt. Living off sugar, however, will not lead you to a great ending. You’ll find yourself dodging ridicule and mocking on earth, only to be denied by God in the end. Is it really worth it? To truly grow in God will require an intake of bitter truths. And when we become one with what we take in, it helps us to live out what we profess to others. It is time to recover from a sugary diet and set out to be “the salt of the earth” (Matt. 5:13). Because after all, once salt loses its saltiness, “it is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.”

ARE YOU SUFFERING FROM IMPOSTER SYNDROME Melody J. Wilding
to do it themselves. Not sure if this applies to you? Ask yourself these questions: Have you ever been accused of being a micromanager? Do you have great difficulty delegating? Even when you're able to do so, do you feel frustrated and disappointed in the results? When you miss the (insanely high) mark on something, do you accuse yourself of not being cut out for your job and ruminate on it for days?
Many high achievers share a dirty little secret: Deep down they feel like complete frauds–their accomplishments the result of serendipitous luck. The imposter syndrome is a psychological term referring to a pattern of behavior where people doubt their accomplishments and have a persistent, often internalized fear of being exposed as a fraud. Not an actual disorder, the term was coined by clinical psychologists Pauline Clance and Suzanne Imes in 1978, when they found that despite having adequate external evidence of accomplishments, people with imposter syndrome remained convinced that they don’t deserve the success they have.
Do you feel like your work must be 100% perfect, 100% of the time? For this type, success is rarely satisfying because they believe they could’ve done even better. But that's neither productive nor healthy. Owning and celebrating achievements is essential if you want to avoid burnout, find contentment, and cultivate self-confidence. Connect with one of our coaches at www.businessstartupacademy.com to help you accept the truth about perfection. Perfection is unattainable, your work will never be 100% flawless. 2. The Superwoman/man
They call their success luck or good timing, and dismiss it as others’ believing they were better, more intelligent, and more competent than they actually are. And while yes, early research from the psychologists' work focused on high-achieving women, the syndrome has actually been found to impact men and women in roughly equal numbers.
Since people who experience this phenomenon are convinced they’re phonies amongst real-deal colleagues, they often push themselves to work harder and harder to measure up. But this is just a false cover-up for their insecurities, and the work overload may harm not only their own mental health, but also their relationships with others.
Below is a summary of the competence types Young identifies so you can see if you recognize yourself. I also provide some examples you might relate to in your day-to-day life, as well as questions you can ask yourself.
Not sure if this applies to you?
1. The Perfectionist Perfectionism and imposter syndrome often go hand-in-hand. Think about it: Perfectionists set excessively high goals for themselves, and when they fail to reach a goal, they experience major self-doubt and worry about measuring up. Whether they realize it or not, this group can also be control freaks, feeling like if they want something done right, they have
Do you stay later at the office than the rest of your team, even past the point that you’ve completed that day’s necessary work? Do you get stressed when you’re not working and find downtime completely wasteful? Have you left your hobbies and passions fall by the wayside, sacrificed to work? Do you feel like you haven’t truly earned your title (despite numerous degrees and achievements), so you feel pressed to work harder and longer than those around you to prove your worth? Imposter workaholics are actually addicted
to the validation that comes from working, not to the work itself. Start training yourself to veer away from external validation. No one should have more power to make you feel good about yourself than you. On the flip side, learn to take constructive criticism seriously, not personally. The Natural Genius Young says people with this competence type believe they need to be a natural “genius.” As such, they judge their competence-based ease and speed as opposed to their efforts. In other words, if they take a long time to master something, they feel shame. These types of imposters set their internal bar impossibly high, just like perfectionists. But natural genius types don’t just judge themselves based on ridiculous expectations; they also judge themselves based on getting things right on the first try. When they’re not able to do something quickly or fluently, their alarm sounds. Not sure if this applies to you? Are you used to excelling without much effort? Do you have a track record of getting “straight A’s” or “gold stars” in everything you do? Were you told frequently as a child that you were the “smart one” in your family or peer group? Do you dislike the idea of having a mentor, because you can handle things on your own? When you’re faced with a setback, does your confidence tumble because not performing well provokes a feeling of shame? Do you often avoid challenges because it’s so uncomfortable to try something you’re not great at? Other imposter types are: 4. The Expert 5. The Soloist Can you guess their traits? 1. What language does your market use?
3. What is your brand vision?
Language is extremely important because it’s how you can directly relate your brand to your market. A very powerful way to do this is to actually use the language your market communicates in. Use that in your copy as well. How does your market want to feel in relation to your business? As a result, I created a brand that sees business and money in a more loving light—a light that tells people money doesn’t need to be so scary.
Very few companies have established their brand vision as well as Apple has. As such, we’re going to use Apple as an example again. Apple wanted to change the way people saw technology. They didn’t want technology to be clunky, unattractive and difficult to use. They wanted it to be personal and beautiful. This is how Steve Jobs ended up re-inventing the personal computer. When they made their comeback in the early 2000s, they knew they couldn’t do it with a computer per se. So, they decided to focus on something no one else was doing—a gorgeous and easy to use MP3 player. Remember those commercials? So simple yet so amazing.
2. Where does your market hang out? This works for both marketing and branding. If you know where your market hangs out then you’ll know how to find them and how to communicate with them. Let’s take Instagram as an example. Lots of designers use Instagram as a means of marketing because lots of fashion
