Letter from the Editor

H

ello lovely readers. Christmas is upon us and my house is filled with the giggles of excited toddlers who seem to be mesmerized by the many toy advertisements on television (which then of course become the ‘must haves’ for Christmas). I’m looking forward to a 1st Christmas for baby Faye, it’s going to be a special one for her but no Christmas Dinner just yet!

As we have reached the end of the year, this issue revisits our 2014 Charity Partner - Count the Kicks! We feature a fun way to plot your pregnancy milestones and a real life birth experience from reader Hannah who was determined to have a natural birth for her second child following an assisted delivery for her first. We’ve got some great fashion ideas for this Winter and delicious winter recipes from Annabel Karmel to warm up your toddler too. If you’re using our fabulous directory of playgroups don’t forget that a lot of them close for the festive period so ring ahead! I hope that you enjoy this issue and I hope that you have a fantastic Christmas and a very happy 2015!

Pregnancy THE N.I.C.E. GUIDELINES SUGGEST

“Any changes in fetal movements should be reported to a midwife or healthcare professional for further assessment”.

Count the Kicks

MUMMY AND ME CHARITY PARTNER 2014 COUNT THE KICKS - EMPOWERING MUMS-TO-BE WITH KNOWLEDGE & CONFIDENCE Stillbirth is a massive umbrella and while there isn’t one solution to reducing the rates, a decrease in fetal movement is a key warning sign that a baby is struggling in the womb and early delivery could save nearly a third of stillborn babies.

The key aim at Count the Kicks is to reduce the UK’s current stillbirth rates by educating pregnant women on the importance of monitoring their baby’s movements and reporting any change in their baby’s regular pattern of movement. Our charity was founded following Chloe’s stillbirth in 2009 when her mum Sophia noticed a change in Chloe’s pattern of movement but did not know how important this was.

When the baby is being deprived of oxygen he or she will slow their movements to conserve the oxygen. Cord compression, a failing placenta, a high intake of smoke as well as other causes may all lead to reduced movements and could be potentially fatal.

While we don’t want to scare mums, we do want to raise awareness of stillbirth and what can be done to prevent it.

CHARITY PARTNER - COUNT THE KICKS

I

f you notice an increase or decrease in your baby’s regular pattern of movement contact your midwife or antenatal ward.

The RCOG guidelines states that women should be reassured that 70% of pregnancies with a single episode of Reduced Fetal Movement (RFM) are uncomplicated. Women who report RFM on two or more occasions are at an increased risk of a poorer perinatal outcome including an increased risk of stillbirth, fetal growth restriction and/or preterm birth. How Big Is My Baby?

Pregnancy

4 wee ks. ..

In weeks 4-5 the embryo grows and develops within the lining of the womb. Outer cells form links with the mother’s blood supply and inner cells form into two, and then later, into three layers. Each grow to be different parts of the baby’s body.

Most women will go into labour between 38 and 42 weeks. Call your hospital or midwife at any time if you have any concerns. Get ready to finally meet your baby!

From about 34 weeks, you may begin to experience your womb tightening. These are practice contractions known as Braxton Hicks contractions, and are a normal part of pregnancy. If they become extremely painful, contact your midwife or hospital.

By 33 weeks your baby’s brain and nervous system are fully developed. Baby’s bones are also continuing to harden, apart from the skull which stay soft until after birth making moving through the birth canal easier as the bones can move gently over each other so that the head can be born safely while still protecting the brain.

Welcome

Birth & Beyond

Baby Esme

HANNAH SHARES WITH US HER BIRTH EXPERIENCES WITH SON MAX AND NEW ADDITION, DAUGHTER ESME.

A

side from a few weeks of morning sickness, I have been lucky enough to enjoy my pregnancies and I have been blessed with two beautiful and healthy children; Max who is now 2 and Esme who is 6 months old. My first birth experience with Max was an induced labour and in all honesty I didn’t cope with the pain well. I used every pain relief at my disposal; gas and air, diamorphine followed by an epidural. The final stages were quite stressful and resulted in forceps for delivery and a third degree tear. It didn’t end there! I also had a retained placenta which meant time in theatre following the birth in order for it to be safely removed. As you can imagine, this left me with a lengthy and often painful recovery period. But, despite all this - my baby boy was here and I wouldn’t change the experience for the world! It did however make me determined to try for a second child and to aim for a more natural birth. As it happened, my second birth experience couldn’t have been more different. The fantastic care I had received from the Maternity Unit at Warrington Hospital filled me with the confidence that regardless of what happened with my second delivery, I would be in safe hands. My daughter was born just 22 months after having my son. To my relief I didn’t have to be induced this time as I went into labour naturally in the early hours of the morning. I had mentally prepared myself the second time around and during labour I kept telling myself what would happen next in terms of the level of pain I was likely to experience.

Having used so much pain relief in my first labour, I had decided to try using a TENS Machine this time.

“I can’t recommend a TENS machine enough as it helped me all the way through labour” Although it didn’t necessarily take all the pain away, it really helped me focus on timing my contractions which was a great distraction from the pain. As such, I was able to stay at home until shortly before Esme was born at hospital as I had planned. I gave birth to Esme late evening naturally, with no intervention. I used gas and air for the final stages and required minimal stitches. I felt so proud of myself for being able to experience a natural vaginal birth (particularly as she weighed a whopping 9.9lb!). I definitely feel that preparation both mentally and practically (in terms of what pain relief I would use) helped me achieve the birth experience I desired.

Win 1 of 3 Pacapod Designer Changing Bags with new Metanium Everyday Easy Spray Barrier Lotion

T

o celebrate the launch of Metanium Everyday Easy Spray Barrier Lotion - the latest addition to the Metanium family – we’re giving away 3 Pacapod Designer Changing Bags together with a sample of Metanium Easy Spray to keep in your bag. New double-action Metanium Everyday Easy Spray Barrier Lotion protects and moisturises the skin to help prevent nappy rash. In a handy, easy-to-use spray, Metanium Everyday Easy Spray forms a barrier to protect delicate skin from irritants like urine and faeces that can cause nappy rash. It’s quick, convenient and simple to use, providing light, even coverage. There’s no need to rub the lotion in, so application is extra-kind to delicate skin. Easy Spray has a unique, water-free formulation to create an effective barrier against irritants. Both urine and faeces contain water, so any water-based formulation is unlikely to offer sufficient protection from nappy rash. Similar in formulation to the Prima Baby magazine Gold award-winning Metanium Everyday Barrier Ointment, Easy Spray is fragrance, lanolin and preservative free, and is gentle enough to use at every nappy change. It’s ideal to keep in your changing bag for easy use when out and Visit

Disneyland Pari An Editor’s Re

s

view

M

y husband and I have been lucky enough to experience Disney® Resorts in our youth. But my last visit to the resort in Paris was over 10 years ago, and certainly long before I had children of my own. So we were super excited about our visit to Disneyland® Paris with our three beautiful girls. We chose November, as it would mean we could celebrate our middle daughter’s 2nd birthday there. As it happened, we couldn’t have timed it better, as our visit meant experiencing the last night of the special November firework displays and Disney Dreams® magical laser show. Then following this, we were also there to experience the change over to the spectacular Christmas celebrations and Disney® Christmas Dreams show - which is simply out of this world! As Disneyland® Paris has 3 separate parks, I made sure that I did plenty of research before our trip to ensure that we made the most of our

visit. We took our own pushchair, but if you’re planning to travel light, it is reassuring to know that there is a hire option at the resort. This is a FREE service available at the entrance to both the Disneyland® Park and Walt Disney Studios® Park. If you decide to take your own, then online forums advise to take a bike lock for your pushchair to secure it to railings when required. If you have chosen to stay in one of the fantastic Disney® Hotels, you will benefit from ‘Magic Hours’. This is exclusive access to the Parks between the hours of 8am and 10am (check details at time of booking). The parks open to the general public from 10am. If you are staying ‘off site’, before 10am you can still gain access to Disney® Village where you can browse fantastic Disney® stores, enjoy great restaurants and even book in to Café Mickey where you can dine with Mickey, Minnie and friends. To avoid disappointment it is advisable that you make a reservation for any of the Character Dining Experiences up to 2 months prior to the date of your arrival. Just call the Dining Reservation Service on +33 1 60 30 40 50 or for a more ‘spontaneous’ visit, you can also book at the reception desk of your hotel. Choosing to dine with characters certainly adds to the magic and as we were celebrating our daughter’s 2nd birthday we chose to do just that! Right in the heart of Disneyland® Park near Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in Fantasyland is the Auberge de Cendrillion. Here you can feast on fairytale enchantment over fine French cuisine, all served in surroundings fit for your little prince or princess. WWW.MUMMYANDMEMAGAZINE.CO.UK

The setting is a medieval banquet hall where you are welcomed by Suzy and Perla (Cinderella’s mice friends) and then joined by Cinderella, Prince Charming and other Disney® favourites. It truly is a magical experience that little ones will love. Guests are encouraged to dress accordingly and while my girls have a chest full of princess dresses, in the cold winter months comfy attire is perhaps more practical for the adventure that the rest of the park offers. We made the booking for our first day at Disneyland® around lunchtime. But I would encourage you to consider your time carefully as the travelling and excitement had taken its toll on our toddlers who were exhausted and a little mischievous! So choose your time wisely to make the most of the experience. As soon as you enter Disneyland® Park, head straight to Visitor Relations - City Hall (just to the left as you enter). Here you can pick up an events planner and guide and if you are there for a special occasion i.e. birthday, give that a mention too, as you will be given a sticker/badge. This helps cast members know it is your special day and leaves toddlers ‘wowed’ when their favourite characters know their name! You can also download a copy of the planner for the Disneyland® Paris website close to the time of your visit as the planners change every few weeks to reflect different seasonal events taking place. It is also advisable to purchase an autograph book and pen as soon as you enter, this adds to the fun as your little ones (and you) can dash about collecting character signatures during your visit. If you are planning a Character Dining Experience then ensure that you take it with you! If you intend to meet characters during your visit, then you will often see them out and about around the parks. However, the daily planner/guide also highlights particular times and locations you will be able to ‘meet

26 |

and greet’. So if there is a particular favourite with your child then make sure you get there early to avoid lengthy queues. These include; Toon Studio® – Toon Plaza (Walt Disney Studios® Park) where you are likely to meet characters such as Buzz Lightyear, Princess Pavilion (near ‘It’s a Small World’ ride in Fantasyland) where you can meet characters such as Anna and Elsa and other locations dotted around the parks. Although the queues can be lengthy, it guarantees that your child will have individual and special moments with the character with opportunity to obtain their autograph and pose for a photo without being swamped with other guests. During the Festive period, guests can also meet Santa Claus in Frontier Land or characters from ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ near the Riverboat Landing. If you’re pregnant or travelling with babies/small children, it is advisable to visit; www.disneylandparis.co.uk/attractions which provides full details on accessibility, height restrictions and other useful information. You can then plan your days without disappointment. For very little ones, Fantasyland is your best bet as here you will find many attractions suitable for all ages such as Alice’s Curious Labyrinth, Snow White, Casey Jr – le Petit Train du Cirque, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, It’s a Small World, Le Carrousel de Lancelot, Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups and many more. Be advised that particularly during the winter months, a few rides close for maintenance and repair. If your children are not school age, I would highly recommend taking advantage of out of season stays particularly during the week as the park is a lot quieter and you get to see a lot more of it - ideal for impatient toddlers! If you are unable to visit Disneyland outside of term time, then take advantage of Disney FASTPASS®. The FASTPASS® allows you to board popular rides within a matter of minutes via a special FASTPASS® entrance. The rides include; Indiana Jones™ and the Temple of Peril, Space Mountain®, Peter Pan’s Flight, Star Tours, Ratatouille: The Adventure and several others. A full list can be found at www.disneylandparis. co.uk/guest-services/fastpass/

Disneyland® Paris packages are one of the best ways to experience a carefree holiday filled with a magical mix of fun and convenience. These packages can include Travel, Hotels, Meal Plans, FASTPASS® and Extra Magic Hours. You can also take advantage of Baby Switch – allowing parents to take it in turns on adult rides without having to wait in line a second time. There are High Chairs and Bottle Warmers at all Disney Restaurants along with children’s menus and special gifts for little ones. Baby Care Centres are found in Plaza Gardens Restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A® in Disneyland® Park and behind Studio Services in Walt Disney Studios® Park. Here there are also nappies and baby food available to purchase. Most toilets either have a changing area or worktop space for you to change your baby too. The Baby Care Centre in Disneyland® Park offers somewhere for breastfeeding Mothers, but as I was feeding my 2 month old I found that staff were always helpful to find suitable places to feed when out and about around the parks. Be aware of smokers though! There isn’t a smoking ban like the U.K so you do encounter it. On one of our evenings, we decided to book the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Dinner Show with Mickey and Friends! This is a fantastic experience that all the family enjoyed and would highly recommend. Under 3’s go free and sit on your knee. The meal consists of hot chicken, ribs and potatoes, pot of chilli and apple crumble, washed down with as much water, cola or beer you can drink! All guests big and small get their own Cowboy hat to join in the fun of the old west! Shows are Friday to Tuesday at 6.30pm and 9.30pm with the show lasting 1hr 30minutes. Ticket prices start from £48.80 for adults and £38.20 for children. Check online and the event planner as you can occasionally see special ticket offers. During your visit, make sure that you take in at least one Disney® Parade. If you’re planning a visit over Christmas, these take place at 2pm, 3.15pm and 4.40pm weekdays and 2.45pm, 4pm and 5.25pm weekends. Head to Main Street or the Parade Route at least 10 minutes before the parade starts to ensure good viewing. We found that the Market House Deli on Main Street, U.S.A had great cake

and was an ideal place to stop close to the parade route. If you are planning a visit this festive season, Disney® Dreams Of Christmas is an absolute must! As the park closes for the evening this spectacular laser show is beamed onto Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at night, complete with music and fireworks. It is simply breathtaking. Be sure to purchase your Interactive Ears to join in with the display. The Christmas magic doesn’t end at the Christmas decorations and music blasting from the shop fronts, each day with a little help from Disney magic, Main Street U.S.A® experiences a flurry of snow that leaves little ones astounded (and parents too!). Everything about a trip to Disneyland® Paris is truly magical, but experiencing Disneyland Paris at Christmas – well only Walt Disney himself had words to describe this... supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Experience the Magic

at Disneyland Paris...

Set in beautiful surroundings with picturesque gardens and lake, Magic Circus Hotel is just 10 minutes away from The Magic Kingdom. A free shuttle bus runs between the hotel and the Disney® Parks approximately every 10 minutes making it an ideal hotel for your visit to Disneyland® Resort Paris.

H

aving previously stayed in ‘on site’ Disneyland® Paris Resort Hotels, I was unsure whether a hotel ‘off site’ would have the same atmosphere. However, Vienna International’s 4-star Magic Circus Hotel, certainly provided a magical stay for all the family. We discovered Magic Circus through Disneyland® themselves who recommend Magic Circus along with it’s sister hotel ‘Dream Castle’ as their ‘Partner Hotels’ on the www.disneylandparis.co.uk website. From the moment you step through the revolving doors, you are transported into the magic of the Big Top conveyed by the enchanting paintings and statues of acrobats, jugglers and clowns. The bright and colourful theme runs throughout, even down to the ‘Ringmasteresque’ staff uniform! The lobby hosts an array of delights for all the family including; a Disney® boutique, Soft play area with ball pit, miniature carousel, children’s games and Bar des Artistes cocktail lounge area. There is also access to other facilities such as the; beauty and wellness area, indoor pool (complete with shallow children’s area) and the fabulous L’Etoile restaurant. There are a wide range of rooms on offer at Magic Circus Hotel designed to meet the needs of visiting families. These include; Double Rooms, Family Rooms, Suites, and also options of Barrier-Free-Rooms or Family Rooms with Connecting Doors (great if staying with the Grandparents!). Baby cots are free of charge and staff are on hand to help make your stay as magical as possible. Travelling with a small baby and two toddlers, we opted

Words: Michelle Thompson Magazine Founder & Director to stay in the ‘Kids Suite’ - a large suite which incorporates a separate curtained off children’s room with bunk beds. The children’s room also featured a dressing table and - a television. Staying away from home in a hotel can often unnerve children. Toddlers can be tricky with bedtime at the best of times. However, the specially designed children’s room allowed our children to know we were close by, but allowed Mummy and Daddy that much needed relaxation after busy days in the Disneyland® Resort. The suite offered ample room and unlike some hotels the bathroom featured a bath and shower, which is more suited to families with small children. Wi-Fi is available free of charge - great for sharing your experiences on social media while you are there! The circus theme adds an element of fun and glamour with; bold curtains, star filled carpet, circus drum stools and themed artwork. The room was immaculate and freshened to a high standard daily. When your day is filled with the excitement of the Disneyland® Paris Resort itself, two things are important from your hotel experience. A good breakfast to kick-start your day, and a good bed to sleep in at the end of it! Magic Circus Hotel certainly did not disappoint with both of these. Breakfast is served at the L’Etoile restaurant from 7am 11am and serves an extensive buffet of delicious hot and cold food to even please fussy toddlers. As for bedtime, yes you are pretty tired after a day walking around Disneyland®, but the beds are luxuriously comfy and provided a blissful night’s sleep for all.

Early Years

A

s a Partner Hotel, you do not benefit from the ‘Magic Hours’ of 8am – 10am entry provided to guests of the Disneyland® Resort Hotels. What this does mean however, is that you have ample time to get young children ready, take time to enjoy breakfast and perhaps make use of the fantastic facilities offered by Magic Circus Hotel. It suited

the needs of our family perfectly. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at Magic Circus Hotel, experiencing comfort and luxury with a splash of fun and – magic! We highly recommend Magic Circus to any family looking for Disney® accomodation.

COME AND LIVE A MAGICAL FAMILY STAY AT DISNEYLAND® PARIS Just a short drive from Paris, families will spend a magical stay and live a unique experience of dreams at the 4-star Vienna International France Dream Castle Hotel and Magic Circus Hotel, nearby Disneyland® Paris. The rooms and suites are designed to meet families' needs with extra space for children. Specially selected kid's menu in the restaurants ensure that the yougest guests will encouter culinary delights while parents dine in style. Children will also experience many fun adventures thanks to our kids program and amazing characters. M

y name is Connie Nunn, designer, maker and founder of KOKO and KOKO Designs. My creativity and the lifelong passion I have for fabric and colour is the driving force behind the business and every piece I create. After acquiring a Higher Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology, I worked in a clothing factory as a children’s wear and ladies wear designer for many years. After the birth of my son I struggled to find unique and practical accessories, so my desire to make and supply stimulating items in rich colours for children and their families grew stronger. Children love vibrancy and they are drawn to anything colourful. At KOKO and KOKO, our mission is to create products in vibrant colours and avoid sticking to the traditional pastel pinks and blues. We make adventure tents, tepees, cushions, blankets, name garlands and gifts (to name a few) and our collection is continually growing and developing due to customers’ requirements and

requests. We are inspired by anything around us; people, nature, objects etc. Children love their own space and products that have their own names on them to feel special, that is why we offer personalisation on request. We promote creativity and educational development in growing little minds through fun in play. KOKO and KOKO products are designed and manufactured in Essex, England. We use a variety of tested materials from the soft, delicate and cuddly to breathable waterproofs, working primarily with 100% durable cotton fabrics that comply with Part 1, 2 and 3 of European Standards BS EN 71. We would love to hear your comments and requests.

A

s I stepped in to my relatives house over 5 years ago, I was greeted by a really nice smell, and it wasn’t her cooking. It turned out to be a candle, a Yankee Candle.

From that moment on I was hooked on the smell as well as the vast array of candles that were on offer and were constantly growing. I wanted to be able to offer people an incredible range of candles and scents in order for them to enjoy them just as much as I had, and still do I also have my 4 year old son hooked too! He loves choosing which scent DISCOUNTED we are burning. YA ES

But for me there’s nothing more relaxing after a busy day of work or family life. Once the little nippers are tucked in bed I light a Yankee candle and create which ever mood

I choose to in my home whilst enjoying a cup of coco (or a sneaky glass or 2 of wine in peace). Being able to enjoying the beautiful aroma and flickering lights . Buyusacandle.co.uk was built on the back of this passion and we now have over 60,000 likes on our facebook page. We have recently launched our very first Yankee outlet store in Manchester, offering all types of Yankee products at even lower prices with super deals to go with it. We hope to expand this even further and are already drawing up a business proposal to make the beautiful smells of Yankee even more accessible and exciting to our existing and new customers. WRITTEN BY REGULAR COLUMNIST NEIL SINCLAIR A.K.A

Recipe for a Silent Night – food tips to help kids sleep on Christmas Eve Written in conjunction with Rachel Jessey, a qualified nutritionist, member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy, and a specialist in infant and childhood nutrition.

T

‘ was the night before

Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…

I

Where is that house?

n my house, the troopers are so excited they can barely sleep. Just as it should be. But what I don’t want to do is add to that natural stimulation by giving them foods that could leave them feeling bad tempered and exhausted but unable to sleep: Tired But Wired. Take it from one who knows – this is not a smart Commando Dad move. Instead, I make sure on Christmas Eve my troopers eat a diet rich in the wonderful amino acid, tryptophan. These foods are readily available and include beef, chicken, turkey, milk, yogurt, eggs, salmon, tuna and bananas. Tryptophan rich foods keep trooper’s blood sugar levels balanced and moods stable throughout the day, and when eaten in the late afternoon and early evening it can help them sleep. It does this because their bodies use it to make serotonin. This basically slows down nerve traffic to their brains, making it easier for them to relax and go to sleep. Of course this doesn’t mean that they will drop off at 6pm on the dot – they are still going to be very excited – but you are doing all you can to make

them as calm and relaxed as possible. Put it like this, if you let them have access to all those lovely Christmas treats that are inevitably going to be in the house – fizzy drinks and chocolate for example – you are doing the dietary equivalent of throwing petrol on the flames of their excitement. Expect a short flash to bang time*. To make sure the maximum amount of typtophan makes it to your trooper’s brain, you’ll need to serve it with a carbohydrate rich food. Here are some great Christmas Eve choices: Breakfast: - Boiled eggs and wholegrain soldiers - Scrambled eggs on wholegrain toast - Porridge with chopped banana - Yoghurt and berries Snack/Supper: - Banana (perfect as it contains both tryptophan and carbohydrate) - Warm milk and a wholegrain biscuit - Cheese and crackers or oatcakes - Peanut butter on wholegrain toast Dinner: - Chicken stew: perfect Commando Dad choice as it is easy to make and can be prepared beforehand. If you don’t eat meat, make this a thick vegetable stew with pulses, such as lentils or kidney beans. - Beef chilli served with brown rice. Again, a great

Daddy and Me choice to prepare beforehand – even the night before. Very easy to cook. I make it without using chilli as the other ingredients give it plenty of flavour. I then add heat to my own portion using tabasco. - Prawn stir fry with noodles: another good choice as it is so quick and easy to make. Dried noodles just need to be soaked in water for a few minutes and you can stir fry any veg you have. I regularly stir fry cabbage, carrot and little onion. If your troopers don’t like prawns (give them the opportunity to try them though as I am yet to meet a trooper that doesn’t) use chicken. Soybeans or soy products can be used for a vegetarian option. - Fish, steamed vegetables and brown rice. I cannot say enough good things about fish. It’s quick to cook, even straight from the freezer, bursting with nutrients and the kids love it. I don’t have a steamer, I just steam vegetables in a sieve over a little saucepan of boiling water. But the benefits of tryptophan don’t end with relaxation

and elevated mood. It can also regulate your trooper’s appetite. With all of these benefits, why wouldn’t you want to get more of these foods into your trooper’s – and your - diet? I know first-hand that diet can have a massive effect on the morale of the whole unit. If you don’t already provide your troopers with a diet rich in fresh vegetables, lean protein and fruit, make diet adjustments now and observe the results for yourself. The key thing to remember is that your troopers learn by example, and will mimic your behaviour. Lead from the front. Want them to eat the right amount of healthy nutritious foods? Then you need to do the same. Start now. *Flash to Bang Time. In the army, the time it takes for the fuse to detonate the bomb. Here used to mean the time it takes from the stimulus (already excited troopers eating sugary and processed foods) to the response (BANG).

Children big and small love making paper chains - a great decoration too! Simply cut out strips of coloured paper, loop together sticking each loop with tape. The results are fun and festive! Let your toddler join in the festivities with an easy-to-make, easy-to-pull Christmas cracker! Simply purchase some small ‘party bag’ style toys and treats, place inside an empty toilet roll and roll in wrapping paper. Twist the ends to seal and use some pretty festive ribbon to decorate each end! Make festive headbands to wear around the Dinner table. Take a strip of card and place around your child’s head to ensure you get the right fit and cut to size. Then let your toddler get creative with painting, sticking and drawing on the strip of card. Once finished, loop the card together and secure in place with tape. We all remember the fun we had making snowflakes. If your toddler is able to use safety scissors, cut out circles and fold in half and half again. Then let them cut away! Once opened out, they will look like beautiful snowflakes and maker great decorations!
