Wonderful Waffles at Stacks Eatery

DIVORCE MEDIATION CENTRE

If you are heading to Durban this festive season period then you must visit Stacks Eatery in Umhlanga. Their gorgeous decadent ‘Stacked Waffles’ are an experience waiting to be tried. I went with my family recently for a Sunday brunch, where I met Paul, the owner. Both hubby and I had the savoury waffles, whereas the children opted for the sweet waffles, of course! Andrew had the Caramelised Onion & Spicy Beef Sausage and I had the Beef Burger Napolitano Chilli Chutney Stacked Waffles. The presentation was beautiful, so out came everyone’s phones to take numerous photographs! They have recently expanded their menu which included adding more vegetarian options, so there really is something for everyone. The children were treated to the Sweet Waffle Stacks – the choice of the day for them was the ‘Cookie Cookie Crumble’ and the ‘Bar One Banana’ Waffles… delicious! Paul also produces his own ice cream and ice cream cakes, which are perfect for a festive dessert or for a gift for a friend – they look and taste stunning. They come with a choice of toppings including Triple Choc, Choc Ganache & Mixed Nut and Strawberries & Cream. Please give Paul a couple of days’ notice to make them as they are made fresh to order! Dust Be Gone Dust be gone, the DEFY vacuum cleaner is here to stay! Regular and thorough vacuum cleaning not only helps allergy sufferers guard against dust-related allergy attacks, but it also helps preserve the life of your carpeting and leaves you with a fresh and clean home. DEFY, South Africa’s number one home appliance brand has launched the VC 4320 Vacuum cleaner, aka “mom’s little helper” to help you keep your home spotlessly clean all year around. The 1800w vacuum cleaner has a forceful 300w suction power, to help eliminate the toughest dust bunnies, and with its 8-metre cleaning radius and flexible hose, there is no safe place for dust mites, pollen or pet dander to hide. The adjustable metal telescopic tube helps you access the nooks and crannies which were once hardest for you to reach, and the various brushes and nozzles ensure you get the job done with professional ease. The High Efficiency Particulate Air filter, or HEPA filter, effectively captures particles as small as 0.3 microns (a micron is oneone-millionth of a meter) and prevents dust from being exhausted back into the household, a definite must-have for any allergy sufferer.

Be SunSmart this Summer

Each year during the hot summer months, CANSA steps up its skin cancer awareness communication through its SunSmart Campaign, to remind South Africans of the dangers of over-exposure to the sun. Running from mid-November to January, the campaign includes beach, workplace and school activations, as well as sharing education online on CANSA’s platforms.

everyone, regardless of racial or ethnic group, is at risk of getting skin cancer. Although people with darker skins are less susceptible, because their skin contains more natural melanin that protects against sun damage, everyone is at risk from the harsh African sun. Just one blistering sunburn in childhood or adolescence more than doubles a person’s chances of developing melanoma later in life. Children should not be getting sunburned at any age, especially since there are a range of very effective sun protection methods that can be used. Minimise time outside during summer when UV levels are at their strongest – between 10am and 3pm. Parents and guardians need to be extra vigilant about sun protection for their infants and toddlers at all times.

CANSA reminds all South Africans to be SunSmart throughout the year and especially during summer, as skin cancer remains one of the most common cancers. South Africa has the second highest incidence of skin cancer in the world after Australia, and in particular one of the highest incidences of melanoma worldwide, as far as Caucasians are concerned. At least 20 000 South Africans are diagnosed annually with nonmelanoma skin cancers, and approximately 1 500 are diagnosed with melanoma. For more information about how to protect your family from the harmful effects of the It is important to take note of the fact that sun, visit www.cansa.org.za.

Instructions: • Make sure you are doing this experiment in a place where you won’t get in trouble for getting Diet Coke everywhere. Outside on some grass is perfect; please don’t try this one in your family lounge!! • Stand the Diet Coke upright and unscrew the lid. Put some sort of funnel or tube on top of it so you can drop the Mentos in at the same time (about half the pack is a good amount). • Time for the fun part - drop the Mentos into the Diet Coke and run like mad! If you’ve done it properly a huge geyser of Diet Coke should come flying out of the bottle, it’s a very impressive sight. The record is about 9 metres high!
