Healthy Life/Beautiful Life How to Help • The Ruth Mailbag Group is a group of volunteers who provide much-needed apparel for premature and newborn infants at state hospitals. Items are given to the children free of charge, the most needed items being hats and booties for larger preemies and full-term babies, as well as blankets and quilts (size 30” X 30”). Donations of yarn, fabric and supplies are warmly accepted and given to certain volunteers to make up the required items themselves. Donations of children’s toys and clothes are also welcomed. To participate, simply make up the items needed and deliver to one of the receiving hospitals. Yarn that can be washed in hot water with harsh detergents and disinfectants should be used for all projects. November is Prematurity Awareness Month and volunteers are asked to spread the word, wear purple to show your support and donate booties, hats and blankets. There is also a Christmas Baby project which closes on 1 December.
