A TIME OF TRUST: The parent-school relationship

A time of TRUST

The current global pandemic has put one particular human value under strain more than any other. This is the value of ‘trust’. All around the world, the COVID-19 crisis is placing pressure on communities.

All schools are asking parents to put their trust in them and believe that their family is safe and education is continuing. This trust is something earned, not demanded, and at the British School of Bahrain, we are fortunate to have gained our parents’ confidence and, with this, a collaborative spirit of unity.

The parent-school relationship is also one that relies heavily on trust right from the very beginning. Even before a parent has enrolled their child within a school, assurance needs to be given; this is a crucial part of the decision making process. A prospective parent must trust that the information they are receiving is a true reflection of the school. relationship permeates throughout a child’s entire time at any school. Over the years, a successful parent-school relationship builds trust, dispels doubt and grows loyalty.

The reopening of schools across Bahrain this September is, once more, asking parents to trust the schools and their procedures. At the British School of Bahrain, 91% of our parents have asked for their family to return, which is an excellent endorsement of the positive relationship we have with our parents. Following careful planning, we are delighted to be able to welcome every child back to full-time education.

Once more, happy and eager students will fill our corridors and classrooms with laughter.

The British School of Bahrain has earned the trust of its parents by communicating and reassuring them that we are taking every measure to keep our school community safe. The precautions that have been implemented are extraordinary, ranging from the rudimentary social distancing to the more advanced monitoring of temperatures through modern technology. No option is risk-free, but during the last academic year, there were no cases of transmission of the virus within the school. We are therefore confident about our procedures and will continue to remain vigilant as the health and well-being of our community is a priority.

The British School of Bahrain has done everything to reduce the risk as much as possible and allow learning to be once more the focus of the lives of young people, who so dearly miss their schools, their lessons, their friends and a resemblance of normality.

Trust is a value well earned and easily lost, but one that should support all parents in making the right decisions. John Maguire, Executive Headmaster

The British School of Bahrain

Individuality.
