The Design Idea Process

The hexagonal shapes interlock like carbon nanostructure rings to form Research Centre design.

The modular carbon nanostructure rings formation of the building allows for future adaption and expansion of the research building. the abstraction and formation in Hexagon rib's size and shape depend on the interior space function.

Design Philosophy

I started with a sketch and formation of the solid volume to achieve the design requirements set out by the project Elements of this mass are then removed and shaped according to site factors, design brief requirements, spaces standards. obviously, the project form reflects a strong unique shape that demonstrates building function in education and research.

Interior Environment

The project concept approach has solid technical and environmental considerations at its heart, designed the three elements of the campus into a unified whole.

As visitors and researchers move through the main atrium, they will experience a flow between natural light coming from the roof, and the interior landscape, with views from inside to outside.

Construction Method

Rather than build traditionally, the home was designed to use brick in a forward thinking way. Encasing outdoor areas, by created a latticework (perforated walls) of brick, which act as privacy screens and filter light and Air into the interior.

Throughout the day, the brick screens cast a myriad of exotic shadows that fill the spaces with geometric patterns.

Perforated brick walls help keep the house cooler in the hot weather and can even moderate the humidity inside. The double wall construction technique combines an outer wall of the brock design paired with an interior aluminum framed glass wall that buffers the environment inside. Most interestingly, as the light shifts over the course of a day and filters through the holes.

20

The Ultimate goal of Design:

• Make a modern building with Environmental concept suitable for Sudan climate and culture, in addition to creating an intimate environment and privacy for the owner and occupants.

• Allocating a limited budget (Low Cost construction housing concept)

• Using local materials.

The project is a combination of a family house (villa) on ground level with outdoor space and complex units(apartments) on the upper levels, with a two commercial Shops open to the main street.
