Value proposition Versatility, Knowledge, and Services are our biggest assets
Why waterjet over another cutting method?
Within FinJet waterjet product family you will find the right solution to cut virtually any material, any shape, any amount, and any size.
• Versatility: Virtually no material limitations, very thin (< 1 mm) and very thick (>350 mm) materials can be cut by waterjet cutting.
We consider ourselves as a service company where the machine building is most visible embodiment. Our pride is life cycle waterjet technology services and complete customer satisfaction.
• Quality: No material changes due to heat affect zone (HAZ), no material distortion, process enabling strict tolerances. • Efficiency: Minor loss of material due to effective nesting and thin cutting kerf. Wide unmanned cutting options.
• Speed: No additional finishing usually needed, cutting can be done with several cutting heads and stacked materials. • Complexity: practically all cutting shapes are possible with 5axis cutting or robot cutting.
• Environment: No hazardous waste, no toxic fuses. • Simplicity: All you need is electricity & water, and abrasive for hard materials.
Client base Client overview • Current clients are in Finland, Sweden, Russia, Denmark, Poland, Estonia, Norway, Holland, and Germany. • Practically all industries covered with existing clients: • Metal, automotive, glass, gaskets, stone, rubber, plywood, machine building, medical, electronics, marine, subcontracting, schools, textiles, ceramics, feed, and composite industries.
• Common nominator is the need for effective cutting of X. • Clients are mainly small and medium sized companies with revenue less than €20M. Deviation however from €1M to €700M. • Most committed individual client has bought more than 10 machines from us within the past 25 years.

Finjet L – Flying Bridge Waterjet Cutting Machine The FinJet L -series is designed to meet the needs of both small and large cutting needs. For smaller plates, the machine allows for cutting at one end and for inserting and collecting the plates at one end. • Flexible cutting in all environments • Flying bridge design enables the effective use of the machine from three different sides. • Works well in a small job shop as well as when producing demanding parts 24/7 • Several variations and options available
Technical Specifications • • • • • •
Cutting area: 1,5 x 3 – 2 x 15 m Z-axis: 200 / 300 mm Positioning accuracy: ± 0,08 mm/m Repeatability: ± 0,08 mm X and Y axis max speed: 15 / 40 m/min Cutting heads: 1 – 4, 2D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bmyTWaqX1Y
FinJet P – Pure Water Waterjet Cutting Machine When cutting soft materials, such as plastic, foam, rock wool, rubber or plywood, abrasive can be left out from the cutting process. This enables faster movements and system can be optimized for pure waterjet cutting. • FinJet P pure waterjet cutting machines are designed to optimally utilize the high accelerations and speeds used in water-only waterjet cutting. • Traditional Z-axis have been replaced by a rising and falling waterjet cutting table. This makes the X-beam and nozzle units as light as possible for higher speeds. • The cutting height is determined by the program or it can be adjusted by the machine operator.

It is very safe thanks to its enclosed structure and provides the same cutting quality as larger FinJet water cutting machines. Technical Specifications • Machine dimensions without the high pressure pump: width 1950 mm; depth 2500 mm; height 2400 mm • Cutting area 1030 x 1030 mm • Z-axis height: 200 mm • Positioning accuracy: ± 0.025 mm / m • Repeat accuracy: ± 0.015 mm • Maximum speeds for X and Y axles: 15 m / min • Waterjet cutting heads: 1
FinJet R – Robot Waterjet Cutting Machine The FinJet R series covers all robotic integrated waterjet cutting systems: either the robot has an integrated waterjet cutting nozzle or the part is treated under a static waterjet. Ideal solution when we are aiming for maximum automation of the cutting process. Available for both water-only and abrasive waterjet cutting. Technical Specifications • Cutting area: up to 3 x 6 m • Positioning accuracy: ± 0,05 - 0.50 mm/m • Cutting heads: 1 / robot
Why would you choose FinJet? The following pages gives more information on these critical elements: • • • • •
Mechanical structure Automation engineering High pressure components Usability Service and support
Mechanical structure Mechanical superiority is ensured by following factors:
• The basin is detached from the frame. This way the heated water does not affect to tolerances due to thermal expansion. • Only high-quality components: long lifetime • Main frame (Y axis) is steel and X-beam is aluminum enabling and precision fast acceleration yet rigid construction for optimal accuracy. • Protection: machines thoroughly protected • Side axel’s (Y) ball screws / helical precision rack & pinions from water, abrasive, humidity and are well protected against water and dust. If movement length temperature fluctuations is longer than 3500 mm, the transmission is done by • Modular structure: thousands of variations supported and extra protected high accuracy ball screws / available. We have a long history of making helical precision rack & pinions extraordinary waterjets for demanding use. • Vibration free movement is secured by 4 bearings on the sledge moving along the Y axis. Bearings are running along high accuracy guides on two sides of the X beam. Stability by having adequate distance between the bearings (> 500 mm). • High pressure tubing always protected • Lamella's type will always be determent by the machine and cutting need • Both options: standard and stainless steel • Mechanical solutions are made to last for more than 25 years
Automation engineering Automation engineering is based on the following values: •
• • • •
In-house design and manufacturing on automation software Operating software must be easy to use and fast to learn Only quality components are approved No updates ever needed, unless wanted from the user Software must support all actives on efficient waterjet cutting process
Some key features: • Closed cooling is standard on electrical cabinet to ensure long lifetime of automation components • Control software platform and hardware from ABB (B&R Automation), operating software from Muototerä • Servomotor power up to 1kW to ensure best performance • Two-way pitch error compensation on all machines – ensuring the precision and enabling precision restoring after years of use • User friendly HMI with 21,5” Full HD wide screen • Control enables 9 different zero points: possibility to do several cutting jobs unmanned • Connection points to use Muototerä’s or clients own Industry 4.0 reporting and monitoring systems
High pressure components • On high pressure components we rely on partnership with KMT Waterjet • We are their oldest OEM partner, collaboration since 1987
• With over 30 years of experience, we have a very good understanding of the highpressure technology’s possibilities and limitations
Usability • A good waterjet cutting machine is made from quality components, but it is not enough on its own. All parts must work together seamlessly. The objective of Muototerä is always to make the waterjet cutting machines to perform better than the sum of their parts. • We do this by: • Making sure that the mechanical, automation, and high-pressure design and components are well working together. This is achieved by having in-house engineering and own experience from using waterjet every day. • No machine is good, if operators can’t use them effectively. We have wide language options, self explaining control touch screen, and comprehensive reporting and monitoring systems to help users to be efficient every day. • All essential waterjet cutting functions are considered in our comprehensive function library: cutting speeds on different materials and thicknesses, quality levels, piercing parameters, accelerations, abrasive amounts, orifice and focusing tube sizes, and un-manned cutting possibilities.
Service and support Even the best machines need maintenance and service • At Muototerä we provide the following: • Dedicated After Sales Manager for every client • Scheduled maintenance • Trouble shooting and repair service: on site or remotely • CAD/CAM, operator, and service training • Comprehensive spare and wear parts stock at our production facilities: fast deliveries globally
