Welcome

For the past 7 years, we have sold up to 400 bulls annually in private sales to other pastoralists and stud breeders throughout Australia, however it was getting harder and harder to please all our clients, as everyone would like first pick With the stud having reached a higher level of consistent quality over large numbers, and after much deliberation, we felt that having this sale would be the best way to be fair to all and give everyone a chance at getting their hands on the best bulls and genetics we have to offer

27 years of trying and testing the Droughtmaster breed on Munda station has guided us in understanding the bloodlines and type of animal that has the adaptability to thrive under the harsh pastoral conditions. We set a very high standard for our cattle and this draft of bulls have been closely scrutinised and passed rigorous assessments and tests to ensure longevity and fertility, whilst being selected for high performance traits and structural soundness

We all know the foundation of every herd is its females For us, the purchase of the Comanche Droughtmaster stud, one of, if not the most documented Droughtmaster studs in Australia, significantly raised the bar of the Munda Reds breeders Comanche achieved the highest priced bull sold in the 2011 Droughtmaster National Sale, demonstrating its position as one of the leading Droughtmaster herds in Australia

Building a homozygous poll animal of good quality is the hallmark of Munda Reds Leading the way in sourcing the best high-performing sires, we have identified those that consistently produce true-to-type calves Our sire battery kicked-off with Wajatryn INDUSTRY, the 2nd highest priced bull bought at the Droughtmaster National Sale in 2015, along with the purchase of Glenavon Redmont and a great band of bulls from the well-renowned Glenlands stud. This was backed up when Munda Reds again secured the 2nd highest priced bull in the 2016 National Sale, Garthowen Velocity 2. From then on, we set about inspecting every top Droughtmaster stud in Australia to assemble our current sire battery, which is showcased in our sale team by 87 stud bulls that represent 25 reference sires providing a strong genetic pool with bloodlines from all the leading Droughtmaster studs including OASIS, HIGH COUNTRY, HAMADRA, SC GRAZING, KAPALEE, MEDWAY and HUNTLY

It is great to see that the Droughtmaster breed has been in such huge demand Commercial Droughtmaster breeders continue to break sale-yard records as well as dominating many of the commercial cattle competitions at the 2021 Beef Expo In the female stud sales Droughtmasters have averaged $6,653 and sold to a high price of $37,000 for Oasis A Miss Icon. At the National Droughtmaster Bull sale 2022, bulls averaged $17,418 and topped at $220,000 for Oasis A Long John with a 91% clearance.
