MÜPA BUDAPEST. FOR YOU.

Are easy rhythms your favourite thing? Are you interested in what the leading stars of the Hungarian and international jazz scenes are playing? Or perhaps you’re mad for progressive rock music? Then we are waiting for you this March at Müpa Budapest, where as a student you can still purchase your tickets for HUF 500!

The world-famous Tony Lakatos will be bringing his new album Blue Chili, and we will also have cimbalom-player Jenő Lisztes, who has previously worked with Hans Zimmer, and French guitar virtuoso Biréli Lagrène here with us. Visiting us for the third time is Dianne Reeves, and some Hungarian rock legends will present their joint project of joyous music under the pseudonym iLand, with the cult band Európa Kiadó also bringing their production Könnyedén vett apokalipszis (‘Apocalypse Taken Lightly’).

If contemporary circus is what amazes you, we recommend one of Recirquel’s most popular performances, Solus Amor, and if dance is your everything, Company FrenÁk’s Secret Off_Man or Ballet Pécs’s Carmina Burana might be your favourites. We cannot let a month pass without literature either, so lovers of letters should mark the Literarium and Literarium Extra programmes in their calendar: this month, in addition inviting you to an evening with the contemporary writer Gábor Schein, we are waiting to welcome you to the Balaton group’s concert of poems by Endre Ady. Last but not least, we wrap up the month with a flourish on 31 March, when the Bartók Spring International Art Weeks kicks off with a concert by Semjon Bichkov and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. It would be well worth your time glancing through the festival programmes now!

Tony Lakatos 1981 óta Németországban él, de mindig úgy jött zenélni Magyarországra, mintha hazatérne. Többnyire vendégszólistának hívták, így itt volt már az ideje, hogy végre saját csapatát, saját lemezanyagát hozza el: ez a Blue Chili, csupa szerethető dallal. Az „all star” zenekar minden tagja mestere a bluesnak, és olyan tüzes hangulatot képes varázsolni, mint a csilipaprika. Európai turnéjuk végén érkeznek a Müpába.

Though Tony Lakatos has lived in Germany since 1981, he has always come to play in Hungary as if he were arriving home. He has most frequently returned as a special guest performer, so it is about time that he finally brought us his own group and album: Blue Chili, packed full with captivating songs. Every member of his all­star band is a master of the blues, together capable of creating an atmosphere as hot as a chilli pepper. They will come to Müpa Budapest at the end of their European tour.

Csak a szeretet: az egyetlen és ősi, időn és téren átívelő, mindannyiunkat összekötő energiáról beszél Magyarország első számú újcirkusz­társulata, a Recirquel új produkciója. A Vági Bence művészeti vezető rendezte Solus Amor a társulattal való többéves közös munka során megteremtett „cirque danse” nyelvén megszólaló monumentális előadás korunk természet és csoda iránti vágyódásából meríti erejét.

A bemutató a Recirquellel közös programként a Müpa szervezésében valósult meg.

Love is all there is: The latest production by Recirquel Budapest, Hungary’s leading contemporary circus company, brings forth the only primeval energy that spans space and time to connect us all. Directed by artistic director Bence Vági, Solus Amor employs “cirque danse”, a genre created with and by the company over the course of several years, in a monumental production drawing its power from our contemporary yearning for nature and wonderment.

Schein Gábor költő, író, műfordító, esszéista. 1969­ben Budapesten született. A kortárs magyar irodalom egyik legösszetettebb életművel rendelkező alakja. Az évek során több irodalmi folyóirat szerkesztője volt. Versei, regényei, esszéi és tanulmányai 1990 óta jelennek meg folyóiratokban, antológiákban, önálló kötetekben. Tíz verseskötete, hat regénye jelent meg a Jelenkor, a Kalligram és a Magvető Kiadónál. Szerzői estje a Literárium színpadán a kortárs magyar irodalmi szcéna egyik legsokoldalúbb, elsőrangú alkotójának műhelyébe enged izgalmasnak, igazi szellemi kalandnak ígérkező betekintést.
