FEATURE LULU HEAL You might recognize Lulu’s artwork from your visits to Soup Kitchen? Nature lover Lulu’s work is inspired by visual distortions deriving from unfortunate scans or water ripples. She has been an active member of our darlings Generic Greeting Collective, with whom she initiates DIY exhibitions/events.

An Exhibition of photographs from the Spanish village of Beas De Segura. Their San Marco festival sees 60 bulls released into the streets. In the middle of it all three photographers documented the families and the traditions of the 500 year old festival.

Through personal memoirs, artifacts and rare funk and soul from its heyday, this exhibition at the Whitworth pays homage to the Reno (1971-1981), a legendary subcultural basement club in Manchester’s Moss Side that’s currently being excavated as part of an arts project.

E A T Lupo Manchester, Salford Purtroppo: It is with great sadness that we learnt our favourite Mancutalian spot, Lupo, will be closing their doors as their landlord has served them their notice. All is not lost though - they are currently looking for a new venue. GO NOW to show your support and have the best Italian food you can get north of the Alps. Nico and his team will open their doors on Chapel street for the last time on 11 November. Their menu changes daily, but if you can get it, murmur recommends the tiramisu, meatballs, lasagne + breakfast.Vegans, order una colazione di verdure!

REVIEW G O D L I K E S P L A S H MOTHER album launch at Soup Kitchen (Sat 21/10/17): We’re not quite sure if the pouring rain were tears of empathy or joy shed by the weather gods that wet night in October. For us the album launch of Godlike Splash was truely a rollercoaster of emotions in the best sense of the word. The what-seemed-likeforever-anticipated MOTHER album launch set presented a mixture of old and new material, taking the audience by the hand to explore fur y, sadness, ecstasy and love. The night started off with a musical costume parade in the upstairs kitchen, led by Ror y Mullen is an ar tist who guided us down to the basement, which had in the meantime been transformed into a cave f illed with ready-mades dangling from

To revisit Che Guevara’s and the Cuban Revolution’s legacy, the Cuba Solidarity Campaign and UNISON North West Manchester are hosting
the ceiling, complementing the parade and, later, MOTHER’s stage outf its. The night kicked off with a short set by Manchester’s all time fuzz favourites Fruit Tones. Initially curtained off with a ghostly layer of transparent covering sheets, MOTHER slowly emerged from behind this translucent wall. Who would have thought bin bags can dress so well? During their third song MOTHER revealed their weird, cheeky, kink knit wear designed by Ruby Kirby. Hyperdimensional glove sleeves were swung round, plastic vagina faces uncovered. But none of that was a distraction but underlined this marvellous magic wonder ride of a show. Evidently both MOTHER and the audience enjoyed the night to the same deg ree.
