CLARA LOVE ELEMENTARY TEACHER NAMED TOP SCIENCE TEACHER

Fifth-grade Clara Love Elementary School teacher, Valerie Valadez, was named a distinguished award recipient of the 2021 Ernest and Sarah Butler Award for Excellence in Science Teaching by the Texas Medical Association! NISD STUDENTS GET FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE

Thanks to the didactic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program offered to Northwest ISD, students have the opportunity to be work-ready and professionally certified by giving them first-hand experience. The School of EMS partnered with Northwest ISD to create dual-credit enrollment programs for students to learn EMS skills and give them the opportunity to work as an EMT right after graduating from high school. photo courtesy of Northwest ISD

GOAT YOGA AT TROPHY CLUB

Come to Independence Park West on July 25, 2021 at 9am for some Goat Yoga! Bring a mat or large towel and come enjoy an hour of yoga while goats graze and jump around (or on) you. JOEY GREEN AT CINNAMON CREEK RANCH

Head over to Cinnamon Creek Ranch on Saturday, July 24, 2021 to hear Joey Green from the Voice play live! Tickets are $10 a person and free for children under 5 years old. NISD SENIORS RECEIVE COSMETOLOGY LICENSE

Northwest ISD’s Cosmetology Academy provides students with opportunities to gain the skills to become licensed cosmetologists after a four-year plan of study. This year, 13 seniors were able to accomplish that by receiving their fully accredited cosmetology license weeks before high school graduation. These skills will allow them to either start their career right away or give them a jump-start on furthering their education in the cosmetology field. photo courtesy of Northwest ISD

HATCHING A LESSON ON ANIMAL LIFECYCLES

First graders got the opportunity to study baby chicks for a spring science project. Northwest ISD elementary schools incubated 297 eggs and hatched 168 chicks. This project is part of the first-grade unit that studies animal life cycles giving the students a chance to see science in action! The kids are able to study the entire process from collecting the egg, to putting them in the incubator, and waiting 21 days for them to hatch. photo courtesy of Northwest ISD
