743 MEAL KITS TO NISD STUDENTS

On Friday, February 19th Northwest ISD Food Service teamed up with Northwest ISD and the local community to prepare and distribute 743 meal kits to NISD students! EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL

Northwest ISD’s Board of Trustees voted to move forward with transitioning Steele Accelerated High School to an Early College High School for the 2021-2022 academic year. With a partnership with Tarrant County Community College, students in the Early College High School would be able to pursue both a high school diploma and an associate degree or two years of college credit toward a bachelor’s degree with no cost to the student.

EVENINGS ON OAK STREET CONCERT SERIES

Evenings on Oak Street Concert Series will soon be starting up again! From April through June, enjoy a free concert series located at Austin Street Plaza in historic downtown Roanoke. The plaza will include a stage, landscaped green space, parking area, picnic area, and restrooms. Bands and times are to be determined, stay updated by going to roanoketexas.

TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY VACCINATION HUB

Thousands upon thousands of people have been vaccinated for COVID-19 thanks to the vaccination hub at Texas Motor Speedway! There have been nothing but positive reviews from those who have gone and are thankful for those who are out there servicing their community. This hub had to close temporarily during the winter storm, but has been back up and running since.

BOOK VENDING MACHINES

Clara Love Elementary has added book vending machines on campus! Students can earn “Love Bucks” which they can redeem for prizes, one of those prizes being a token for the book vending machine. On top of that, every week teachers will choose a “bookworm” from each class to receive a gold coin and they can use their coin in the book vending machines. What a fun way to get kids excited to read!

NORTHWEST ISD ADVANCES TO DESTINATION IMAGINATION INC.

There were 58 teams from Northwest ISD that participated in the virtual Greater Fort Worth Regional Tournament in February and 24 teams from Northwest ISD have advanced to the state Destination Imagination tournament! Destination Imagination cultivates students’ creativity, courage, and curiosity through openended academic challenges. State awards will be announced in April 10th! photo courtesy of Northwest ISD
