What an incredible and monumental year 2022-2023 has been!
Argyle ISD transitioned to a new UIL classification this year and became a Class 5A district. The students competing in academics, fine arts, and athletics in 5A have performed very well and are navigating the change very successfully.
Argyle High School’s Remedy A Cappella performed and competed in New York City in late April in the International Championship of High School A Cappella Finals. It was a tremendous year for Remedy. Also for the first time ever, Argyle High School’s debate had six students qualify for nationals.
In Canyon Falls, the newest elementary school, Argyle South Elementary, opened its doors to students for the first time in 2022. South was built with funding from the 2017 voter-approved bond. We are experiencing rapid growth, and the campus will have over 900 students enrolled by the end of the school year. What’s ahead for the district? AISD receives two demographic reports each year projecting student enrollment. These are utilized to plan for facilities and also to plan for staffing.
AISD has a 10-year strategic growth plan that takes the district all the way to 2032-2033. The district has grown 13% in student enrollment since the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Additionally, the district is expected to serve nearly 12,000
students for the 2032-2033 school year. Rapid growth has created a need for additional instructional space in AISD. By comparison, in May 2017, AISD had 2,460 students and four campuses. In January 2023, the district had five campuses and enrolled the 5,000th student.
Specific capacity numbers for each grade span have been put in place: 850 for Pre-Kindergarten-5th Grade, 1,200 for middle school, and a transition to two high schools at an enrollment number of 2,700 at the high school level. The strategic plan includes maximizing the use of existing facilities. The former Argyle Intermediate campus (located at 800 Eagle Dr.) will open in 2023 as the new Sixth Grade Center. The use of Argyle Middle School for additional space will also be considered for grades 7-9.
Land has been secured for a future elementary and middle school on FM 407 in Argyle. Land donated by Hillwood is being used for an elementary school. The district has two existing high school-level facilities at Canyon Falls and at US 377 (current middle school & formerly a high
Wrightschool). The district’s build-out takes the district to just under 12,000 on the high end of the enrollment projections. At this figure, the district will need six to seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools.
The AISD 2022 bond included Elementary #4, Elementary #5, Middle School #1, a new stadium and indoor activity center at the Canyon Falls campus, technology, transportation, land, and the middle school #2 design. AISD is expected to have another bond in 2024 or 2025 to include Elementary #6, possibly Elementary #7, Middle School #2, and additions at the current middle school and Canyon Falls for additional high school instructional space.
Some exciting recent approvals by the School Board include five full-time AISD police officers and one full-time law enforcement teacher at AHS. Law enforcement is a new curriculum pathway for students at AHS.
Argyle Middle School will have its first drill team in the fall! Another pathway will soon open at AHS for those interested in becoming educators. Middle school students will also have the opportunity to be in the jazz band!
The district is growing and flourishing!

4 # Elementary School DISTRICT ANNOUNCES SITE OF
Argyle ISD is excited to announce the location of its next elementary school. Elementary School #4 will be located in the Harvest community on the west side of I-35. The campus, which is part of the voter-approved 2022 bond package, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024 and will serve students in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.
The location of the campus is the northwest corner of 17th St. and Cleveland Gibbs Rd. on 23 acres donated to the district by Hillwood Properties. Construction is projected to begin this summer.
“We are excited to begin construction on our district’s fourth elementary school,” Argyle ISD School Board President Sam Slaton said. “Thank you to the community for voting to approve the bond to make this necessary expansion possible and to Hillwood Properties for graciously donating this land to the district.” The campus will be built for an 850-student capacity and designed similarly to Argyle West and Argyle South. The district’s 10-Year Strategic Growth Plan includes a commitment to maintaining 850-capacity elementary campuses for consistent instructional space across the district.
“Having a second elementary in the western part of the district provides much-needed instructional space for our elementary students in this rapidly
growing area,” Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright said. Elementary School #4 is one of two elementary schools in the 2022 bond package. Elementary School #5 is projected to open in 2026. Argyle West, which is also located in Harvest, opened in 2019 and was part of the 2017 bond.
In the fall of 2022, the district opened its third elementary campus - Argyle South - in the Canyon Falls community in Flower Mound. Argyle ISD currently has more than 2,400 elementary students, and that total is expected to more than double by 2033. Argyle ISD is planning a community groundbreaking event for the campus in May 2023.
“Thank you to the community for voting to approve the bond to make this necessary expansion possible and to Hillwood Properties for graciously donating this land to the district”

AHS PRINCIPAL UPDATE
The2022-2023 school year will come to an end in just a few short days. It seems like just yesterday that we were having freshman orientation and beginning the fall semester. Now, we are at the end of another school year and looking forward to a welcomed summer break.
This school year, Argyle High School made a huge jump into Class 5A. We have been challenged like no other year, but I am proud to say that our students have definitely risen to the occasion. We have won district championships, regional championships, and even state championships in our first year in 5A.
From the classrooms to the athletic arenas to the venues housing our fine arts, our students have continued to excel and have made the community of Argyle known to many new opponents. When the dust settles on this school year, don’t be surprised if you see the Eagles near the top of the list for the UIL Lone Star Cup. In fact, you might just see us win it for the 13th time!
As I traditionally do with my last posting of the year, I want to take this
opportunity to personally thank a great number of people for their contribution to our school. First of all, I want to thank the educators and support staff on the high school campus. The way that you consistently go above and beyond for the students of Argyle High School does not go unnoticed. I cannot begin to express my full gratitude for your continuous support of our students. I know I speak for everyone in the community of Argyle when I say “Thank You” for being the best educators in the state of Texas.
Next, I would like to thank the Senior Class of 2023. You not only continued the tradition of excellence that we have come to expect in Argyle, but you did it the right way – with class and character. I am so proud of each of you, and I know that you will take the experiences you
have had over the past 13 years and use them to conquer your future hopes, goals, and dreams.
Finally, I would like to thank the parents of our high school students. Your continuous support of our teachers and school administration has helped us reach the finish line of this school year. We appreciate you providing us with the opportunity to work with your child this year, and we look forward to the opportunity of working with next year’s returning students and incoming freshmen.
I certainly hope that everyone has a very restful and relaxing summer break –you have definitely earned it.
Until next year…

One of Argyle High Schools’ standout football players was honored this spring! Argyle Eagle senior defensive end Riley Van Poppel, along with his family, enjoyed a great celebration inside the Argyle High School weight room.
Representatives from Dave Campbell's Texas Football and Whataburger visited
AHS to honor Van Poppel as a member of this year's Whataburger Super Team!
Van Poppel, who has signed with University of Nebraska, was a cornerstone of the Eagles' defense and helped lead Argyle to the Class 5A Division II state semifinals in the team's first year in 5A. The Whataburger Super
Team represents the best players in the state by position. Van Poppel earned elite status as one of just three defensive linemen chosen from across the state.
Van Poppel is the son of former 11-year Major League Baseball pitcher and Texas Ranger Todd Van Poppel.
TEACHERS OF THE
YEAR
The Argyle Education Found and Argyle ISD proudly recognizes its Golden Eagle Teachers of the Year for their exceptional dedication to their students, schools, and community. These five exceptional teachers represent the very best of the Argyle
ISD, and we are proud to have them as part of our team. Their passion for teaching, their dedication to their students, and their commitment to excellence are an inspiration to us all.
During the annual Argyle ISD Endof-Year Luncheon in late May, the Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year will be announced.

Remedy A Cappella NATIONALS HITS HIGH NOTES AT
AHS Remedy A Cappella group places top 3 at national competition with seamless harmonies. Argyle High School’s Remedy A Cappella group had an incredible year, finishing in 3rd place at the national level at the 2023 International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA) in New York City.
PLEASE CONGRATULATE THE FOLLOWING STUDENTS ON THEIR OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS!
Franklin Arrington
Remedy is a contemporary vocal ensemble of talented students in grades 9-12, boasting significant choral singing experience. They are known for their powerful performances at all AHS Choir functions, both on and off campus, as well as their impressive track record in local and national a cappella competitions. In fact, Remedy secured 2nd Place at TVAC in 2019 and Acatex in 2021, and has had multiple recordings featured in BOHSA.
Remedy recently made their dream of competing in New York City a reality by raising the funds needed to send 16 members and their director, Evan Ramos, to travel to NYC. They sold t-shirts, accepted donations, and held a live public
performance to raise the necessary funds. The community of Argyle overwhelmingly showed their support and they were able to raise the $25,000 needed.
With their 7th year of existence on the horizon, Remedy's commitment to excellence continues to grow stronger. To catch a glimpse of their talent, be sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for updates about concerts and the release of their brand new EP "Touch the Sky" (Spring/Summer of 2023)!

ARGYLE ISD transparency Recognized for Financial
Argyle ISD’s Financial Department has received state recognition for its commitment to fiscal transparency.
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that Argyle ISD is the latest local government entity to achieve specific transparency goals through the Comptroller’s Transparency Stars program. Argyle ISD received a star in the area of Traditional Finances, which recognizes entities for their outstanding efforts in making their spending and revenue information available.
The Transparency Stars program recognizes local government entities that provide easy online access to important financial data.
“By providing meaningful financial data in addition to visual tools and analysis of its revenues and expenditures, Argyle ISD has shown a true commitment to Texas taxpayers. This effort achieves the goals set by my office’s Transparency Stars program,” Hegar said. “I am pleased to award Argyle ISD a star for its accomplishments.”
The Comptroller’s office launched the Transparency Stars program in March
2016 to recognize cities, counties, and school districts making important strides toward greater government transparency. Local government entities can apply for stars in the areas of:
• Traditional Finances
• Contracts and Procurement
• Economic Development
• Public Pensions
• Debt Obligations
“Receiving the Transparency Star is a very positive reassurance for all taxpayers of the consistent measures by the district to prioritize fiscal transparency,” Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright said.
After receiving an initial star for Traditional Finances, the remaining stars may be awarded in any order. For more information on the program, including specific guidelines and information on how to apply, visit the Comptroller’s Transparency Stars website.
“Argyle ISD receiving the Transparency Star from the Texas Comptroller reiterates our mission to uphold exemplary financial standards,” Argyle ISD School Board President Sam Slaton said. “The Financial Transparency

Eagle Partners
We value our Eagle Partners! The first annual Eagle Partner Appreciation Breakfast was held Thursday morning (April 20) at the Argyle ISD Administration building, and it was a great success! The event was designed to thank the Eagle Partners, who are local businesses that support the teachers and staff of Argyle ISD in various ways through their donations and sponsorships.
The event started with a delicious breakfast and coffee catered by the new Argyle ISD Catering service led by Director of Student Nutrition Amy Bresnahan. After breakfast, Eagle Partners were presented with a recap on how their contributions have impacted the teachers and staff of Argyle ISD through special meals, district events, appreciation gifts, and recognition of outstanding employees.
The partners then heard an update on the district as well as a plan for the future of Argyle ISD from Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright. The morning ended with a standing ovation for an incredibly special guest performance by the nationally renowned AHS Remedy A Cappella group!
The partners also had the opportunity to network with each other and district administrators, which allowed the partners to connect with other businesses and individuals who share their passion for Argyle ISD. We are so grateful for their support!

Whata successful school year it has been. Reflecting on the journey we have taken so far this year makes me realize how fortunate we are at Argyle West. Our school has been successful due to the awesome collaborative partnership between students, staff members, and parents. Our students are meeting high standards of performance due to the excellent teaching from our fabulous staff and support from our parents. We must recognize our students for their perseverance, hard work, and effort displayed throughout the school year. Our work is not quite done, though; we still have lots of learning left.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our terrific PTA and executive board. Our outgoing PTA president, Stephanie Crawford, has provided excellent leadership and support to the PTA committees, the school staff and administration, and most importantly, to the students at AWE. PTA has provided many resources to help teachers in the classrooms, as well as providing special programs that celebrate our students.
Thank you to all the parents on the PTA and the various committees for your endless contributions and for dedicating a great deal of time to provide beneficial activities, programs, and events to our school. I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention the delicious luncheons and treat days provided for our staff. We feel very spoiled and blessed that you take such
good care of us. We are very thankful for your generous support and look forward to next school year.
During the final weeks of school, staff and students are busy with teaching and learning, STAAR tests, and exciting events such as field trips, end-of-the-year parties, end-of-year awards ceremonies, and other celebrations. Please see our calendar on our website for dates and details.
We have already started planning and preparations for the 2023-2024 school year. We are seeing rapid growth and expect to welcome several new families to our community over the summer. One area of planning is ensuring our staffing exemplifies the best of educators who demonstrate a passion for teaching and working with children. We will also focus on the safety and security of our children and staff. There may be some changes coming for next year, but we will present those changes as soon as we have them finalized.
We will host the elementary summer school on our campus. Those dates are May 30 - June 22, Monday - Thursday, 8:30 - 11:30. More information will come home with students by the end of the year.
Our students are meeting high standards of performance due to the excellent teaching from our fabulous staff and support from our parents. We must recognize our students for their perseverance, hard work, and effort displayed throughout the school year. Our work is not quite done, though; we still have lots of learning left.
Please enjoy the change of pace that summer brings. Have a happy, relaxing, and safe summer with your children. We look forward to seeing everyone upon our return for the 2023-2024 school year. Have a wonderful summer!

Long-Time Friends Lead The Class of 2023
Argyle ISD is proud to announce the accomplishments of Argyle High School Valedictorian Ryan Mackereth and Salutatorian Daniel Roberts. These two students have worked tirelessly throughout their academic careers to achieve their well-deserved positions at the top of their class. Ryan and Daniel are not only academic stars, but they are also longtime friends who have attended school in Argyle since the 7th grade. They have supported each other through countless challenges and celebrated each other's successes, which makes their shared achievement even more special.
RYAN
MACKERETH VALEDICTORIAN INTERVIEW
How does it feel to be valedictorian?
Being named valedictorian is a huge honor for me. When I came to Argyle in 7th grade I had to work hard to catch up academically. But with the help of the excellent teachers and staff at the middle school, I was able to thrive! In high school, I faced even tougher competition for the top 10, but I stayed focused on taking challenging courses and learning new things. Becoming valedictorian represents the culmination of four years of hard work and the reward for doing my absolute best.
What does it take to achieve a top 10 ranking in your class?
Making it to the top 10 requires an insane amount of dedication. You have to take every AP class and the rest as honors courses. I took 16 AP classes and hardly had any free time. Luckily, I had a woodworking hobby that helped me destress and even turned into a business. With the support of my family and friends, I fully committed myself to my education, even though it was stressful at times.
What’s your plan for the future?
After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in robotics. My goal is to work in a
development position where I can build robots for various industries and replicate the "user-friendly" essence of robots like WALL-E and R2D2. I hope to assist people in extreme situations, such as deep space travel and hazardous working conditions. In college, I plan to take advantage of research opportunities and internships to help me land a job at companies like Google, NASA, or Boston Dynamics.
What are your fondest memories of Daniel?
We've shared so many amazing moments together, but some of my favorites include our hikes and heart-to-hearts. And who could forget that time we hit up Texas Roadhouse for a celebratory meal, then strolled through Lowe's talking about all our favorite DIY projects and gadgets? Good times!
DANIEL
ROBERTS
SALUTATORIAN INTERVIEW
What does it take to get into the top 10?
Getting to the top 10 requires a great deal of effort and discipline. I dedicated countless hours to studying and perfecting my note-taking skills to ensure I absorbed as much information as possible. While it wasn't always easy, the feeling of accomplishment that came with each passing exam made it all worth it in the end. Through the process, I also learned
the importance of time management and prioritization, skills that I know will serve me well in all areas of my life.
What’s your plan for the future?
I hope to get my Master's in Genetics and Plant Sciences at Texas A&M University and then go on to get a career in genetic engineering for a private company or research institution. I would like to make the world a better place through the improvement of our staple food crops like corn and wheat.
What are your fondest memories of Ryan?
Ryan and I have had some of the most fulfilling times when we've talked about our aspirations and goals, and there's nothing quite like having those deep, thought-provoking conversations with a close friend. Plus, we've gone on some epic hikes together and discovered some amazing new trails that have been truly unforgettable.
The hard work and dedication of both Ryan and Daniel have paid off, and their achievements are a source of pride for Argyle ISD. We congratulate them on their impressive accomplishments and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. They serve as excellent examples of what can be accomplished through hard work and perseverance, and we are confident that they will continue to achieve great things in the future.
Argyle ISD and the Argyle ISD Board of Trustees recognized outgoing Board member Dr. John Bitter during the regular Board meeting on April 17, 2023.
Dr. Bitter served for the past nine years (three 3-year terms) and served as a Board officer in the role of Vice President. Dr. Bitter elected not to re-run, and the April meeting was his last as a Trustee in Place 2.
Trustees shared their appreciation for Dr. Bitter and the exceptional leadership he brought to the Board. Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright also shared her
gratitude for Dr. Bitter for his service and commitment to AISD students, teachers, staff, and the community. Dr. Bitter has two sons who have graduated from AHS, and his youngest son is a senior this year.
Dr. Bitter also shared his appreciation for the district and his fellow Trustees.
We are very thankful for Dr. Bitter's many years of service to AISD and the impact he has made!
a message from Scott Gibson
AMS Principal
As we wrap up the 2022-2023 school year we can reflect back on many great memories while looking forward to many future changes.
We will end the school year with just under 1,200 students putting us around 400 students per grade level. This higher enrollment, along with the high school moving to Class 5A, allowed us to move our district athletic competitions to a more competitive grouping with schools from Northwest, Keller, Southlake and Coppell. Some of our sports continued their dominance while others had to work harder to continue to come out on top. Our hope is this move will have benefits when students move on to high school.
In 2014, we began the planning for the opening of the Phase 1 Middle School
in Canyon Falls that would become the eventual high school. In April of this year we began that same planning for a future middle school to be constructed on FM 407 east of Interstate I-35W.
This planning included meeting with the architects that will design the new campus. Different programs provided feedback in order to work to build the best middle school to fit our needs.
While this planning for a new middle school is underway, there is also a transition taking place for the movement of the 6th grade off this campus to occupy the former intermediate school.
Argyle Middle School Assistant
Principal Holly Williams has been named the principal of the 6th grade center. She is busy filling out her staff while the 7th and 8th grade campus continues to do the same. The loss of the sixth grade is part of this growth Argyle is experiencing. The movement of the sixth grade along with the future construction of a middle school make for some very exciting times.
The next school year should continue with many new adventures.
Summer is almost here! With the arrival of summer, it’s time to sign up for summer camps! The following is a list of 2023 summer sports and non-sports camps for Eagle students.
Please continue to follow the weekly newsletter and the district website, as more camps will be added with sign-up information. Registration links and more information about the specific camps are available on the Argyle ISD's website at argyleisd.com and search under “News & Headlines.”

Hello from HILLTOP!
As the year comes to a close, I have to say this year has been my favorite. I’ve loved Hilltop’s environment and personality since I walked in the door. Our kids are fantastic, our staff is wonderful, and we have the most supportive parents I’ve ever worked with. Here are just some of the groups I’ve seen making our campus the fabulous place that it is:
• Volunteers are in full swing this year. It has been so great to see the volunteers on a daily basis help in classrooms, our bookroom, or in our copy room. You make a huge impact! Every second you help a teacher is a second they can give back to students. You enter the school with a happy heart that does not go unnoticed and is much appreciated.
• Mr. Ball and our Watch Dogs (Dads of Great Students) add so much to our campus. Thank you for taking the time (and the steps) to roam our building on Mr. Ball’s fast-paced schedule he gives you. I know our students love having you here, and we are so happy this program thrives at Hilltop.
• Mrs. Sutton’s team of PALS and football buddies give older AISD students a chance to come and be mentors to our younger Eagles. I can say they are so loved by our students, and because of you, our campus is much richer. In addition to these organizations, we’ve had many athletic groups assist with drop-off, which is appreciated. I love our students seeing the positive influence shown by our high school students.
• PTA and Silver Eagles make a huge impact here. From events you run to helping with the events we run. Not to mention the huge contribution this year to our classroom reading libraries. I love working with this organization. Touch-a-Truck was a huge success, and the help you contributed for field day, bounce house days, assemblies, and field trips (just to name a few things) helped make fond memories for our Hilltop students.
• Hilltop teachers and staff - I wouldn’t trade you for the world. You make this a building of high standards but one that is still filled with love. You really do set the tone, and I give you all the credit for being the staff that makes this place so special.
• Hilltop parents and families - thank you for all the support. I love our family events because our families are so wonderful to interact with. I appreciate all the kind words you have shared during the year. I also appreciate your trust in us, and me, to bring your concerns when you have them.
I hope everyone has a summer filled with rest, adventure, excitement, or whatever you each need it to be. Before you know it, it will be August again, and we will be ready for another year. I’m proud of this year and excited for the next.
As always - It’s a GREAT day on the Hill!
Mrs. LumsdenI was very intentional this year to end every day thinking of the greatest thing that happened. I challenged the staff to do the same. I will say, there were many days that it would be 8 a.m., and I’d already had a few items that would be contenders. It’s not cliche when I say I love this place…I truly do.

Most go to her for a hug even. She is such a great help to our teachers when she is assigned to their room. She knows what needs to be done without being asked. She is always alert to students’ needs. She’s a positive attitude, paired with an incredible work ethic.”

What her colleagues said… “Mrs. Edge truly cares about both students and staff at South. She conducts guidance lessons regularly for students, organizes several events for the school, supports committees, checks in on students and staff and is an all around encourager. She is always smiling and is willing to help and support all of us at South. She has the “Wright Stuff,” so this award would be perfect for her.”

What her colleagues said… “Mrs. Fischer shows kindness through her interactions with students. She shows integrity by always doing what is right and not what is easy when teaching. Resiliency is shown by the fact that she’s been here for over twenty years and has been one of the most consistent people on this campus for all these years.”

She believes in serving the students in her class to the best of her ability and displays a dogged sense of integrity in how she approaches working with each student and in how she treats her students. She is extremely collaborative in working with the aides in her room as well as with specialists and school staff. We’re very lucky to have her on our campus.”

School Principal | DR. DAWN JORDANWe had a great first year at Argyle South Elementary!
Thisyear has flown by! It has been a year of “firsts” for us. The first group of fifth graders, the first kindergarten class, the first Teacher of the Year (the fabulous 4th-grade teacher Mrs. Bev Wright!), the first ASE PTA, and the first of many wonderful years to come.
It has also been a year of gratitude. I am so grateful for the ongoing support from our parents and community. We have felt very loved by our PTA and volunteers. I am also thankful for our hardworking staff. They truly give 110% every day for our kids. We make a great team and have created a positive family culture. Most importantly, I am grateful for our students. They are the kindest, most respectful, and most dedicated group I have ever worked with. They have excelled in many areas, including UIL, Archery, Choir, Chess, local competitions, and academics. We are so proud of their many achievements.
My best memories from this year are the Multicultural Celebration and the
Spring Fest/Talent Show. Both events allowed our students to showcase their talents and get to know their neighbors. I loved seeing everyone laugh, play, and make special memories. Field Day is the next big event on the agenda. Our students are so excited for a little friendly competition and a chance to spend the day outdoors. Our PE coaches, Erin Baker and Cody Vanderford, have worked very hard preparing for this event, and it is sure to be a blast!
A very special shoutout to our PTA - I am so proud! They have dedicated much time and energy to support our new campus and get families involved. I look forward to our continued partnership and achieving our ambitious goals. We could not have done all the fun and amazing events without you! We are so thankful for their decorating skills, generous gifts, and countless volunteer hours.
We ended the year with awards ceremonies and parties for each grade
level, a Pre-Kindergarten Graduation, a Moving on Ceremony for the fifthgraders, and a staff luncheon. We had a lot to celebrate! Two of our staff members will be retiring this year. Mrs. Laurie Downe, our Art teacher, will retire to spend more time with family after over 30 years in education. She has inspired thousands of students in Argyle classrooms and is greatly loved.
Fourth-grade teacher Mr. Lance Gibson is also retiring after many years in education. He wears a smile everywhere he goes and lights up the room with his positivity! He is also looking forward to more time and adventures with his family.
We brought hundreds of people together in our new school and truly created a family. I look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready for another exciting school year!I hope you all have a restful summer filled with love, laughter, and learning!

SOCCER COACH New Lady Eagle
Argyle High School has hired Erika Lucido as the new Lady Eagles’ soccer coach. The position was approved during Monday’s regular School Board meeting.
Lucido replaces Marc Koke, who will become the Eagles boys’ head coach. Former boys’ head soccer coach Ben Parks will move into an assistant boys’ soccer position along with continuing his role as an assistant with the football program.
Lucido is in her first year at Argyle and helped the Lady Eagles to the playoffs in their first year in Class 5A. She previously served as the Bridgeport High School girls’ head coach from 2019-2022. Under her leadership, Bridgeport produced an undefeated district championship season in 2020-2021, which was the best
year in school history. Lucido was also honored as the District 5-4A Coach of the Year.
Her playing career included five years at SMU, and Lucido was chosen American Athletic Conference SecondTeam All-Conference in 2014. Lucido played at SMU from 2011-2015 and was also invited to the Under 20 U.S. Women’s National Team camp in 2011.
“Coach Lucido has tremendous playing experience and head coaching experience to share and utilize with her athletes,” Argyle ISD Athletic Director Todd Rodgers said. “Additionally, she easily connects with her players and challenges them to be their very best in all situations.”
