OPPORTUNITIES

T

his amazing month of May offers us endless opportunities

to know the incredible beauty that surrounds us. As spring takes its leave and summer claims its rightful place, our

senses are wonderfully ignited by what North Texas lays before us. We see the vibrantly colored wildflowers springing to life along

our highways, fruitful trees, and rejuvenated lawns becoming lush

and soft and green seemingly overnight. Our sense of touch comes alive with the radiant warmth of the sunshine and feeling the dirt between our fingers while planting. Then there are the beautiful

ways we gather together this time of year. Graduations bring us

together to celebrate our loved one’s completion of one chapter while simultaneously beginning a new adventure. Barbecues

provide much needed laughter with friends. Playdates and pool

parties give our kids countless hours of fun. Date nights and ladies’ nights out frequently appear on the calendar. One of our most

brilliant ways of coming together is by honoring mothers each May. This year, May was filled with extraordinarily memorable moments for me and my family. Our recent move back to Texas afforded us many new opportunities that I have dearly missed. I spent

Mother’s Day with my mom for the first time in more than two

decades… instead of waiting three weeks to see her at our annual reunion. This month, we also gathered to witness the marriage of our daughter and her fiancé. Seeing the friendship and love that

they share inspires me in my own relationship. The wedding also

gave Jeff and I the much-welcomed chance to put our arms around our two sons and future daughter-in-law. These infinitely beautiful moments fill me like no other.

As you tour through this month’s issue, our hope is that you are drawn to look deeper and learn more about the beauty

and community that surrounds you, such as the Davis Red Barn
