Did you know that Mother’s Day is the third-largest card-sending
holiday in the United States? It’s true. According to Hallmark, roughly 113 million cards are exchanged every year on Mother’s Day. But that’s not even the kicker. I went snooping around and found all sorts of Mother’s Day facts that absolutely blew my mind. For example, Americans spend just more than $28 billion on Mother’s Day gifts every year, making it the second-most popular holiday (yes … it is a holiday) for gift-giving — just behind Christmas. Also, Mother’s Day is always on the second Sunday in May (May 8 this year), but it actually falls on a different day each year. There are plenty more Mother’s Day factoids where those came from, but I’m just using them as a gentle reminder to please take the time to celebrate your mom this year. As a mother myself, I can’t help but reminisce and be thankful for how my husband, Scott, and our kids always go out of their way to make me feel like the best mother on earth – not just with the homemade gifts and expensive dinners on that single day but every day of the year. They really do spoil me, and the challenge I’m giving everyone this year is to do the same for your sweet mom. Our kids are lucky to have a mom and dad; that’s not the case with many families out there. I am certainly not trying to create a downer moment by saying that, but I am saying that we should all make sure to let mom know how important she is. Here are a few inspiring quotes I found online in honor of moms everywhere. “If love is as sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of love,” — Stevie Wonder. “All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” — Abraham Lincoln. “We are born of love; love is our mother.” — Rumi. Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers out there. We love you all.
