FLOWER MOUND HONORS HOMETOWN HERO

During the September 20th Town Council meeting, Mayor Derek France proclaimed Flower Mound resident Austin Emmons as a Hometown Hero for his military service. A Hometown Heroes banner depicting Austin was displayed in Flower Mound for more than two months before his family was presented with the award. Austin’s grandfather, Michael Waite, accepted the award on his behalf.

NOMINATE OUTSTANDING CITIZENS

In attempts to recognize citizens that selflessly offered service to others, the Town of Flower Mound is in search of nominations for the 2021 “Outstanding Citizenship Award”. Anyone can nominate an individual or group as long as the nominee is a Flower Mound resident or group, and displays at least two of the three criteria required.

LISD NAMED ONE OF THE TOP PLACES TO WORK IN TEXAS

Lewisville Independent School District was ranked in the top half of Forbes’ ‘America’s Best-In-State Employers 2021’ list and is currently ranked Number 1 for all of DFW-area school districts. This recognition was created by Forbes through a survey of 80,000 employees of the United States spanning across 25 industry sectors.

NEW BOOK VENDING MACHINE AT VICKERY ELEMENTARY

The Vickery Elementary School Voyageurs recently introduced a futuristic reward system in two of their hallways outside of the school’s library; brand new vending machines. These vending machines are unique because they are solely filled with books for the students. These vending machines serve “snacks for your eyes.”

FLOWER MOUND HOME TO 1,000 TROPICAL SMOOTHIE

Tropical Smoothie Café chose Flower Mound to hit a major milestone in the franchise by opening their 1,000 store. On September 17th, the delicious smoothie café opened their doors on Flower Mound Road near Walmart Neighborhood Market.

ALMA MEXICANA RESTAURANTE NOW OPEN

Alma Mexicana Restaurante is officially open for business here in Flower Mound. They are located on Cross Timbers Road near Sprouts Famers Market. This family owned restaurant offers authentic Mexican food including things like shrimp tacos, mole enchiladas, and sizzling fajitas. There’s also a good chance that you’ll be able to see the owners, Enrique and Alma, on your visit as they are there open to close.

LEWISVILLE ISD NAMES NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Lewisville ISD has appointed Christie Liles as the district’s new athletic director effective in January 2022. Christie has been the associate director of athletics since 2012. This will make Christie the first female athletic director, replacing Tom Ford, who will be retiring at the end of the year. photo courtesy of LISD

SPREADING KINDNESS ACROSS LISD

Lewisville ISD celebrated Kindness Week August 30th through September 3rd. The students and staff of LISD celebrate annual Kindness Week through dress-up days, daily challenges, and fun activities. Kindness Week, which has been celebrated since 2018, is a week where the students of LISD make a commitment to be kind and to focus on the many ways to be kind to others.
