here’s always that time of the year where it gets way too hot! Right? Physically it seems as if the only
escape is to stay right in front of the air conditioning vent. Nostalgia pushes my mind back to those days of being a kid and the heat was the last thing I remember causing me any kind of struggle. I lived for summertime. Outside ventures and poolside days were all that my mind craved. Running into the house to stick my face in front of the window unit or accelerating fan was a cool reminder that I loved the summer. As we fall into a new season, we are reminded of things that bring change. Not only the weather, but school starting back, programs once again starting up and businesses taking a refreshing turn to see people rushing in and out to purchase and invest for the upcoming fall season.
As I’ve continued my journey of discovering the Lake Cities Community, I’ve found much change coming: highways expanding; new businesses opening; lakeside restaurants coming to life. I’ve had the opportunity to sit and visit with many locals who have expanded my knowledge and have given me a new found love for this new community I now find myself being saturated into. As the summer begins to fall asleep for a while and fall makes its descent upon us, I know I will be thankful for a break from the heat. But more than that, I’m always grateful for change and progress. Moving forward is beneficial in every way as we move through seasons in our lives and in our communities. Don’t forget I’m only a phone call away. Let me help you make your business shine through the beauty and art of advertising here in Lake Cities Living.

f one has never experienced migraines, it is hard to understand the pain attached to them.
Migraines are debilitating headaches that make performing daily tasks
difficult for even the most determined of people. They affect roughly 12% of the population, the majority being women.
Watching for Signs While interviewing several area residents who have suffered from migraines, they all paid particular attention to the patterns and signs that lead to the migraine. In some cases a jagged light would appear on one side their vision. Some reported having migraines after coming “down” from a stressful situation. For
Signs of Migraines So how do you know if you’re having a migraine or just a headache? Here are some telltale signs of migraines: • Nausea and/or vomiting • Sensitivity to light and/or sound

• Seeing flashing lights, spots or having double vision
• Vertigo, imbalance, fainting • Migraines usually give warning signs

Another reader had a child athlete who
was suffering from five migraines a month. Not wanting to put him on medicine, she took control of his diet.

f you’ve lived in North Texas long enough, chances are, you’ve already been through it once.
Getting a new roof is usually something
that homeowners deal with once, maybe twice, in their lifetime. Not here. About every six years or so, North Texas sees a hail storm that causes considerable
damage, rendering many roof repairs and replacements. Still, the process is
complicated and frustrating. That’s why it’s important to work with an honest,

Here’s 5 Can’t-Miss Tips, In Quotes by Steve Gamel

spiring writers occasionally need to hear encouraging words and advice from predecessors who really knew what the heck they were talking about. These tips are often referred to as nuggets of wisdom, and they are everywhere in the writing world. I mean, think about all the great writers, poets, journalists, and authors who came before us: Hemingway, Austen, Poe, Twain, Shakespeare, Dickinson, Thoreau. These are just a few of the geniuses who continue to inspire generations of writers, not only through their classic works, but with the indispensable writing advice they left behind.

ew Lake Dallas volleyball coach Angel Mauterer is still trying to get a feel for her new surroundings.
But she is insistent this year’s Lady Falcons team will again be in the hunt for a playoff spot in District 14-5A. Mauterer happened to be the head coach for District 14-5A rival, Carrollton Creekview, last year. Not only did her team split its regular-season series with the Lady Falcons, but both teams finished tied in the standings and were forced to play a third time to determine playoff seeding. Creekview won in a five-set thriller. Point being: Mauterer knows how difficult it is to beat Lake Dallas. Her goal moving forward is to build off that.
