ave you ever stopped to think about the two words we attach to the holiday season? Happy

same meaning...joy, happy, bright, cheery,

gleeful...the list could go on and on. It is in this season of the year that the majority of people throughout the world are coming together in the same spirit of joyfulness, which makes this holiday season a

unique gift in itself. Simply because from

December 1st to January 1st there is unity brought about by one word that follows these two words and that is...Christmas.

Happy Holidays...Merry Christmas! Both words attach themselves to a time that displays this amazing show of joy.

Growing up in another country as a missionary’s daughter, I was able to learn to appreciate the way others celebrate Christmas and the many ways joy is spread and shared inside a country that was not my own. I’m grateful for this rich heritage of appreciation towards other cultural celebrations. In this month’s Issue of Lake Cities Living you will find heart-warming stories, holiday reminders and helpful articles written by professionals within our community and much more. Make sure you take time as you run your holiday errands to pay a visit to these local businesses who have taken the time to invest in marketing their business through advertising here in Lake Cities Living. What Drives

S

o many people say that they want to change. They say they want results, a different body, or to be healthier. People say they want to wear the pants that have been hanging in their closet for 6 years, be able to buy clothes and actually feel good wearing them...but how many people actually change? In all, very few actually do. Instead, they wait. They procrastinate. They excuse themselves out of what they want and instead embrace that feeling...we all know it...it’s that feeling like you’re wrapped in a warm blanket, near a cozy fire on a cold day... eople spend money on clothing, hair, jewelry and other items to look good and they may only wear these things once a week or once a month, but you wear your skin all the time. Isn’t it time you invested in the thing you wear the most?

Plastic surgery used to be reserved for the rich and famous with varied results. Today it has become affordable, practical and reliable. It is often not even surgery but rather easy, effective treatments that produce great results. With it becoming so convenient, how do you decide what procedure is best for you and where to get that procedure done? Flower Mound Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Spa offers a large variety of

aesthetic procedures and not necessarily in a medical setting,” said Dr. Drew

surgeon at Flower Mound Plastic Surgery

An example would be

on her abdomen after having

children. Instead of having only one

modality to offer, Dr. Sanderson says he

can perform liposuction, a tummy- tuck or a non-invasive radiofrequency treatment with a device called JuVaShape or even a combination of all three. With these

treatment options at their disposal, it just

becomes a simple matter of having the

experience to determine what will give the best result.

“One size doesn’t fit all or even some,”

said Dr. Sanderson. “Let us do the testing

and analysis to figure out what would work

best, and then we can come up with a plan specifically for you.”

Dr. Sanderson’s staff performs a Visia skin analysis on all new patients interested in skin care or maintaining a youthful facial appearance and all it costs is an hour

of their time. It analyzes brown spots, red spots, pores, overall skin texture,

wrinkles and more, and compares them to hundreds of thousands of people

within one year of the client’s date of

birth. From there, Dr. Sanderson will make recommendations on what procedures would be beneficial.

“Rather than just sell something, I will give an honest opinion about what works and what doesn’t work for each patient,” said

Dr. Sanderson. “My goal is to be a trusted

source for aesthetic concerns for all of my

patients and this philosophy has served us very well.”

II, the UIL can lump schools with similar enrollment figures together for both the district schedule and playoffs. Lake Dallas, which is one of the smaller Class 5A teams in the state, is on its way to Class 5A Division II, which will include schools with enrollment numbers between 1,150 and 1839. All schools with enrollments between 1,840 and 2,189 will now be in Class 5A Division I.

ake Dallas is one of the smaller Class 5A teams in the state with an enrollment of 1,260 students. But that

hasn’t stopped the Falcons from being

competitive against bigger opponents. The Falcons finished 7-5 in 2017 and

got back into the playoffs for the 10th

time over the past 12 seasons. That run

included thrilling wins over The Colony

and Little Elm in the regular season and a late touchdown to steal a 37-34 win

over Frisco Reedy in the first round of the

playoffs. Lake Dallas eventually lost in the second round to North Forney.

Despite having its playoff run cut short, the Falcons averaged 345 yards and nearly 30 points per game. Some of the jaw-

dropping individual performances include junior quarterback Ryan Depperschmidt, who proved to be one of the more

dynamic dual-threat quarterbacks in the

area by throwing for 2,392 yards and 21 touchdowns and rushing for 507 yards and 17 scores.

“It levels off the disparity and creates a level playing field,” head coach Michael Young told Lake Cities Living earlier this year. “Any coach will tell you that numbers are very important.”

All that’s left now is to wait and see which Depperschmidt wasn’t the only Falcon district Lake Dallas is added to during soaring to new heights. Wide receiver Brandon Engel caught 59 the biennial realignment day passes for 951 yards and on February 1. One thing “The Falcons eight touchdowns while we do know is that six finished 7-5 in Ky’lee Smith added 580 of the Falcons’ former 2017 and got back yards through the air district mates in 14-5A and 372 more yards in into the playoffs the run game. will be moving up to 5A With both those athletes coming back next year, expect bigger things from the Falcons.

for the 10th time over the past 12 seasons.”

Another perk that should benefit Lake Dallas next year will be the University Interscholastic League’s recent announcement of a split division in Class 5A. By creating a Division I and Division

Division I, making them unavailable to compete against Lake Dallas moving

forward. Prosper, which won the district title, will move up to Class 6A. Prosper’s enrollment number of 2,975 shows just how big a disparity there was between Lake Dallas and its opponents.
