etro Dent in Lewisville was, is, and will continue to be a premier leader in the technology of paintless dent repair. For more than 25 years, people have known this was the place to take a car or truck riddled with door dings or hail dimples and, within a few days, pick up the same vehicle that now looks as if it’s fresh off the showroom floor. Mike Nosker purchased Metro Dent from his friends in 2018. His immediate goal was to begin expanding the services offered to his customers. Working with dedicated focus, he needed only two years to broaden the service umbrella to cover any type of automotive or marine repair. “I still had a lot of customers who were surprised when they learned about all the services we provided in addition to hail and paintless dent repair,” said Mike. “I decided the name Metro Dent fell short in describing our expansion into a ‘onestop-shop’ kind of business. I created two new DBAs
to better reflect to customers that we can offer them the best of everything, whether they bring us a car, a boat, or a jet ski.” Creating names can require a great deal of deliberation. It needs to indicate the service provided, with a sound and rhythm that sticks in a person’s head. Mike played around with words for several weeks. “Utopia” popped into his brain and wouldn’t leave. While doodling, it occurred to him that adding “a” to the beginning of “utopia” changed the first four letters to spell “auto.” That was it! Autopia was born. Boatopia, to describe the ton of boat and jet ski work the business handled, just followed naturally. Both Autopia and Boatopia are owned and operated by Metro Dent.
“I STILL HAD A LOT OF CUSTOMERS WHO WERE SURPRISED WHEN THEY LEARNED ABOUT ALL THE SERVICES WE PROVIDED IN ADDITION TO HAIL AND PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR...”

What really separates Metro Dent from the would-be competition?
Answer: The entire technical staff,
including Mike, travel the world to learn
different techniques, actually assisting the on-site technicians from whom they’re
learning. This keeps them on the cuttingedge of available technology.
Raised in Dublin, Ohio, Mike spent 20
years traveling the world and working in hail storms, automobile manufacturing
plants, and body shops. He’s worked on
six of the seven continents which, in itself, is impressive. The goal that chased him
from one place to the next was to have a shop that provided the best service and quality anywhere on the planet.
He grabbed the opportunity by the horns when he purchased Metro Dent from

it requires total dedication to remain the best on the planet.

Couples That Play Together
STAY TOGETHER by Kelly Murray
E
very couple ought to incorporate some fun activities into their relationship. Added fun tends to keep relationships alive and vibrant. It eliminates some of the dull routines that can creep into households and family life. It is not uncommon for couples to lose their sense of loving spontaneity. This can happen when couples lose themselves in their daily duties and family obligations. Most couples don’t set out to neglect their relationship. They just get lost in the shuffle and forget to make each other and their relationship a top priority. If a couple loses their fun time, they must acknowledge it and get it back as fast as they can because fun activities serve as valuable reminders of romantic feelings. Keep in mind, added fun does not discriminate in terms of age. Every age can enjoy some fun outlets because it rejuvenates everyone.
1. Take a class together. It may require a couple to find a common interest. A couples class can be done online or outside. Perhaps a craft class will stimulate the brain while incorporating a new hobby into your life. 2. Take turns making a special dinner every week. Give each other a break and incorporate “special dinner night” into your lives. There’s no need to be a gourmet chef — surprise each other and set aside an assigned cooking night. Allow the inner chef to come out and create a fantastic dinner for your other half. Show off a little cooking talent, and see what you can come up with.
20 | LIFE IN CASTLE HILLS | MARCH 2021
3. Have a special dining out night. Find a restaurant that both of you enjoy. Set out one night a week or month and enjoy your special hot spot meant for two. Incorporate the restaurant outing into your couple’s lifestyle. A romantic meal for two will keep communication cozy and free as it connects you to each other in extraordinary ways. 4. Listen to an audiobook before bed. This is a stimulating and fun way to connect with each other. This will stir up some fun conversations as it fills your head with the magic of new places and stories. This can be for those on a tight budget because audiobooks can be listened to on YouTube for free.
5. Schedule a walk night. Take a short stroll and hold hands as you gradually increase the distance. Set aside a scheduled walk and tell each other your wildest dreams as you gracefully stroll together. Be sure to include some big laughs and funny stories. 6. Start an exercise routine. If you enjoy dance, create a dance and exercise routine together. This can be a private endeavor for two. Make up your own moves, and add it to the schedule. 7. Start a household project. Allow a little couple’s creativity to take over and plan your own project. Remember, projects can be small or large. Anything goes with the couples’ household project. 8. Enjoy an ice cream treat special. Build your own ice cream treat for two, and don’t worry about the calories. 9. Enjoy a couples massage. Find a quality spa, and sign up for a couples massage special. 10. Engage in a few card games for two. Invest in a deck of cards, and enjoy an evening of cards with your other half.

THE BENEFITS OF FUN ACTIVITIES
All couples benefit from added fun. They don’t have time to worry about the state of the world when they are enjoying fun moments together. They tend to alleviate depression and anxiety when they schedule some fun activities into their lives. Studies and research have shown that couples who play together really do stay together.

hat’s the story behind one of Argyle’s newest restaurants, St. Argyle’s Cajun Kitchen, created by the Radical Hospitality Group and located in the old Fuzzy’s location on the corner of FM 407 and 377.
We’ll admit it - we felt a lot like we were walking into a New Orleans restaurant when we walked into St. Argyle’s. With its nods to famous New Orleans locations like the French Quarter and Cafe du Monde, those of you who have been missing visiting The Big Easy will love visiting here! We all know that one of the things New Orleans is best known for is its amazing cuisine. St. Argyle’s has that too! Their menu is full of incredible Cajun dishes like Gumbo and Red Beans & Rice.
We also got to try their Popcorn
Shrimp served with fries, slaw, and hush puppies and their signature
Blackened Salmon served over Basmati rice with a mango relish on top.
And we all know you’ve never truly
experienced New Orleans until you’ve had a beignet from Cafe du Monde.
St. Argyle’s has some amazing beignets that are sure to satisfy your craving.
They have amazing height and are the perfect combination of being both dense and fluffy.
St. Argyle’s also has a fantastic full-service We had the chance to try out several of their most popular and signature dishes. And we can’t wait to tell you about it. First up was their Crawfish Boil, which they’ll always have available during crawfish season. It’s made with live crawfish, their signature crawfish seasoning, corn, potatoes, and lemon wedges. Sadly, the Marauders never got a chance to prove their coach was right. After just
13 games, both the baseball and softball seasons were shockingly canceled
because of the COVID-19 pandemic. There’d be no chance to play the
game they loved. There’d be no district championships or deep playoff runs.
More importantly, no champion would be crowned.

Argyle baseball coach Ricky Griffin added his own take. And rightfully so. His team was coming off an unbeaten run to the

of the same pieces in place to defend that title before the season was ended.

“Obviously, everyone is looking forward
to getting back on the field,” Griffin said. “I felt really good about our chances last
year with the team we had, and having it cut short was disappointing. We weren’t
the only ones in that boat, though. A lot of people, especially early on, have hopes
of winning the whole thing. When it’s all taken away, it’s tough. It was strange.”

“We have about five or six who were on the field quite a bit last year, plus a few
move-ins who will help us out,” Griffin said. This is an unusual situation for us because, for one, prior to the past six or seven
years, I could have told you our entire
starting lineup. Secondly, the season was

any Texas cities were faced with frigid temperatures, power and water outages and shortages of food in the February winter storm. Sheriff Tracy Murphree states, “The Denton County Jail is like a small city. We are in charge of the well-being and care of around 1000 inmates. While other county offices are closed for the inclement weather, we are conducting business as usual.” He also added, “I am very proud of our Officers, staff and Facility Maintenance team that went above and beyond during those difficult days.” The Denton County Jail never lost power like so many others did during the winter storm. The jail has several generators that are in place should they be needed. The generators are tested regularly as
mandated by the state, to assure that they are functional. The temperature in the jail never went below the acceptable range but there were extra blankets handed out as needed for inmates. The Denton County Jail also never lost water, but because of the City of Denton’s Boil Water Notice, we were affected. We had to boil all water that was used for cooking and drinking. Igloo water coolers were purchased to be distributed throughout the jail. We also purchased 12,000 water bottles and 6000 pounds of ice.
Another challenge the jail faced was with our food supply. We rely on food deliveries and because trucks couldn’t make their routine deliveries, we were

n a press release, the City stated, “Lewisville residents and organizations frequently work alongside city employees on projects benefiting the community. This can happen through volunteer programs, even partnerships, social service agreements, board and committee appointments, and other arrangements, both formal and informal.”
The Spirit of Lewisville award was created “to recognize individuals or groups that worked closely with city staff on a significant project, exceeding usual expectations one might have of a volunteer or a social service agency, and that produce exceptional results that directly benefitted one or more members of the Lewisville community.” Out of all of the 2021 honorees “that helped attain outcomes that likely could not have been accomplished by the City without their help”, Old Town business Bendt Distilling 28 | LIFE IN CASTLE HILLS | MARCH 2021
Company along with Denton County local, Salai Lian, took home the award. Bendt Distilling Company is located in a former Piggly Wiggly grocery store on Charles Street. This local business has become a prominent fixture in our local Old Town Lewisville community for residents and visitors alike. The owners of Bendt Distilling Company and Old Town Lewisville residents, Ryan and Natasha DeHart, are active members of the downtown business community.
Before the global pandemic, Bendt Distilling Company was one of the most popular venues in Old Town Lewisville. But much like most people and businesses during this pandemic, the virus brought great challenges for this Denton County local business. Social distancing and business restrictions caused the business to close its doors to the public for much of the year. Although owners Ryan and Natasha DeHart had to close the doors to their

-out great sacrifice. The conversion of whiskey to hand sanitizer meant that the business would miss an entire season of producing its commercial products. It also led to significant cleaning and repair costs for the company’s production equipment. By setting aside the company’s own financial interest to come to the aid of our local Denton County community, Ryan and Natasha DeHart addressed a dire need in their community and provided greatly appreciated support to their city’s workers while also providing essential services to the community. Visit us at 225 S. Charles St., Lewisville, TX 75057. Another Spirit of Lewisville Award winner, Salai Lian, has been doing incredible things for the City of Lewisville for many years now. “Becky Nelson of Chin Community Ministries recommended Salai Lian as someone who could help educate City employees about the Chin culture and could translate City documents into Hakha Chin,” the press release said. Salai Lian has done many incredible things for the community for the past few years, “but his greatest contribution came in mid2020 under very challenging circumstances.” The staff of the City of Lewisville was informed that there was a potential outbreak of COVID-19 within the Chin community. “Language and cultural barriers were interfering with important messages about recommended health protocols and the importance of testing and treatment.” business, they did not close their hearts to the needs of their community. They saw a community in dire need of help and supplies and decided to convert their whiskey production line to begin making hand sanitizer. Ryan and Natasha offered their product free to public health and public safety officials in Denton County, www.LiveLocalMagazines.com
Testing was difficult for many members of the community as they were not able to take time off of work or they lacked the transportation to distant testing sites. “Salai was a key member of a small team that worked with Denton County Health Services to arrange for two testing events near Chin neighborhoods and churches.” Salai talked with community pastors to spread awareness of COVID-19 with their congregation while also arranging to have volunteers at the testing events to help with translation and other needs. “Salai’s willing and eager assistance likely saved many Chin residents from serious illness, and possibly saved lives.” MARCH 2021 | LIFE IN CASTLE HILL | 29

an you name the third largest National Park in the United States? It’s Everglades National Park, which spans over 1.5 million acres in south Florida! It’s also where seven million Floridians get their daily water supply.
Here, water is the lifeblood. It is a subtropical marsh region often called “River of Grass.” The Everglades is often referred to as a “swamp,” but in reality, it is a giant, slow-moving river 60 miles
wide, 100 miles long, and generally only one foot deep. The water moves very slowly southward from Lake Okeechobee across a limestone shelf to Florida Bay and into the Gulf of Mexico. It is a safe haven for a variety of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. The Everglades is the only place in the world where the American Alligator and the American Crocodile co-exist. It is also home to the Florida Panther, one of the most endangered species on earth.
alligators, birds, and raccoons. This is a real adventure as we zipped in and out of narrow mangrove tunnels. It honestly was surreal as the mangroves are so thickly tangled and artistically interwoven to form dense thickets. This is the largest mangrove ecosystem in the Western Hemisphere! This park is an American Treasure. What an amazing gift and opportunity we have been given to enjoy and experience this now and for all our future generations!
We started our tour with an exhilarating airboat ride at Everglade City Air Boats. We chose it because the boats are equipped with personal two-way headsets to clearly hear the captain’s narrative and help soften the loud sound of the boat motor. We saw lots of wildlife like
