SMFA Trustees and Governors, President Christopher Bratton, Honorary Co-Chairs Ann + Graham Gund Director Matthew Teitelbaum and Tufts President Anthony Monaco, and Event Chair Abigail Ross Goodman welcome you to an evening honoring MONA HATOUM.
THANK YOU Dear Friends, We are so glad that you are here to celebrate the SMFA and to honor world-renowned contemporary artist Mona Hatoum. Tonight we toast the long legacy of the School and its bold future. The SMFA has been educating artists for 140 years. Soon the School will formalize its historic bond with Tufts University, enabling a new, dynamic relationship between these two great institutions. The true beneficiaries of this union will be our students. All net proceeds from this event directly support scholarships and educational opportunities for students at the SMFA—our future artists and creative leaders. We encourage you to bid with enthusiasm! Once again, many thanks for your ongoing generosity. With great gratitude,
Abigail Ross Goodman

Mona Hatoum Hatoum alters the context of familiar objects, actions and bodies to evoke multi-layered associations around personhood, place and belonging. Her work evokes a visceral response, and speaks to the power of art to communicate complex truths in a way that language alone cannot.
