SOLOISTS - WINNERS OF THE CONSERVATORY CONCERTO COMPETITION Ellie Rose ‘20 is majoring in in Music Performance, Flute. She studies with Professor Mathew Krejci. Ellie went from playing in veterans’ homes to performing in the Mozarteum. She has appeared on stage since she was seven years old. She performs frequently at Pacific, whether in solo, chamber or orchestral settings. In addition to being very involved in the Conservatory’s classical music scene, she loves to jam to indie covers from bands like Mumford & Sons and Passenger. She is accompanied then by her partner, Ty, and their Husky-German Shepherd mix, Luna, who does back-up vocals. As an aspiring young artist, the stage is where Rose thrives and it is where she is always looking to for her next opportunity. Tanya Harris ‘20 is majoring in Music Performance, Voice. She studies with Dr. LynelleWiens and Professor Burr C. Phillips. Tanya has yet to scratch the surface of the professional operatic world but has had the privilege of learning and performing principal roles in her undergraduate studies. This spring she will perform as Amiam in the production of The New Mikado under the baton of Nicolas Waldvogel with Pacific Opera Theatre. Her notable operatic and musical performances at Pacific include Fiona in Brigadoon, Polly in The Beggar’s Opera and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas. Recently, Tanya received the first place in the Stockton Opera Guild Competition. Tanya would like to thank her family, Dr. Lynelle Wiens, Professor James Haffner and Professor Burr C. Phillips for their patience, support and guidance.

Thomas Hubel ‘20 is a senior Music Education major and studies trumpet with Professor Leonard Ott. Originally from Mountain View, CA, Thomas is extremely grateful for his four years at Pacific. While performing with every major ensemble on campus during that time, he has also become a strong advocate for student-run projects and ensembles. When Thomas is not working on his EdTPA lesson plans, he can be found teaching with the Vanguard Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, drinking coffee through all hours of the day, and attending Pacific baseball games.
