Meanwhile, Peyman’s role as the technical lead seemed destined from early on. A passion for technology, ignited by 90s game consoles, led to self-taught coding and then a Masters’ Degree in Computer Science from the prestigious Queen Mary’s University. For Peyman, rap music was his first love and was his incentive to learn English, finding motivation in Dr. Dre and Eminem. Sounding like they could have come out of Seattle in the '90s on Sub Pop, Crete, Greece's Prince Of Lilies recorded their debut album Vent (2021 Grunge Pop) with Nirvananoise guru Steve Albini at his Electrical Audio studio in Chicago, Illinois in just two days and all on analog tape. Vent received critical acclaim and is considered the first "grunge revival" album. Now they've returned with another new single "Free", once again produced by Albini, and it's accompanying video for their sophomore album Hurst out later this year.
Prince Of Lilies fuse grunge, punk, and thrashing garage rock and takes indie rock and gives it a well deserved punch in the face leaving it bloodied, raw and stunned replacing the smug self awareness with an injection of rock n roll spirit. Prince Of Lilies write dynamic pop songs with a hardcore edge, replacing slickness for a gritty live feel and punk attitude, managing to sound like they're actually playing in the corner of your bedroom threatening to tear a hole in your speakers.
Here's what the singer Pyn had to say about the track:

"Free is about finding that freedom that exists within you after being caged up by society for so long to the point where you've become a slave to it and you hate your life. When you find the way to break those chains on your feet and find that you actually have the power to take control of your own destiny, it's an experience worth shouting about. Who keeps you down? Who holds the key to your freedom? In the end, it's you and only you. You have the power to free your own self. It all starts in the mind." Irish solo artist P-Mad is back with his new single "Broken", which is the artist's third release. The track is a catchy number with a strong bass line, which is the backbone of "Broken" and provides a constant for the ear to follow. It starts with a dark, moody vocal arrangement, which develops throughout the track. In places, it reminded me of Sisters of Mercy. Backbeat is very catchy. The overall sound is a unique gothic rock-esque style with a dark undertone. Well worth a listen. The track is available wherever you stream your music from the 4th of April. SEEVA "GEMINI MOON"
I produced this song to have a stadium feel with the ambition of having my own 'torches in the air' moment. It’s for those times where you just want to lie in bed or dance around the house feeling your feels at the top of your lungs.” With the release of his impeccable debut album, We Need to Talk, Seeva made a huge impact earning critical support for his electropop creations from the likes of ATTITUDE, ALT PRESS, and EQUATE MAGAZINE, while also being spotlighted on Live Nation’s Ones to Watch list. Seeva has fostered additional advocacy from key radio stations including BBC Radio 2’s Jo Wiley, Beats 1 Radio and BBC Introducing as well as BBC Radio 6 and Hoxton Radio Flex FM.
Back with another confessional tale, rising British-Asian queer creative Seeva rips open the wounds of a failing relationship on new release “Gemini Moon”. Following up the celestial “Twenty-Two” – released on Feb 22nd no less and supported by Gay Times, Ones to Watch, Noctis and Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist – “Gemini Moon” is the second single from Seeva’s forthcoming EP Afterthoughts and emerges as a powerhouse pop anthem. Dramatized to the fullest, “Gemini Moon” comes complete with sudden explosions of triumphant drums and climatic guitar solos, custom built for catharsis as Seeva’s signature nuanced songwriting captures the complications of adult relationships, queerness, heartbreak and redemption. Released with the single is the music video for “Gemini Moon” shot by award winning director, Tom Paul Martin; the perfect accompaniment to the track, Seeva’s emotional artistry shines in a show of masochist melodrama. Elevating the song with its cinematic videography, the timeless tale of a slowly fading relationship unravels as quick-cutting footage of homely vignettes are transformed into beautifully abstract images. In a statement about the single Seeva says: “I wrote this song with the ambition of having my own 'torches in the air' moment. I wrote it after having a revelation about a relationship that I was clinging on to, and much like my last single, it talks about the desperation I felt when I knew things were going to end.
Working diligently behind the scenes with the likes of Lily Moore and Matt Taylor, alongside continued support from the established British producers behind Dua Lipa, Tom Walker and Mabel, Seeva continues to prove his commercial appeal; his track “Worship” was handpicked for Footlocker's 'Voices of the Future' social campaign and he also holds continued partnerships with the Tate Gallery, where his achievements include crafting an original score for Andy Warhol’s 92nd birthday anniversary. Prelockdown, Seeva further developed his growing profile through festival placements at Brighton Pride, Liverpool Sound City and The Great Escape street performances. Garnering a reputation as one of the most creative talents emerging out of the London queer scene, Seeva’s ability to deliver captivating, emotional tracks with as equally stunning visuals is leaving no doubt about his artistry – fans and critics alike will be sure to keep their eyes on this pop prospect.

To herald the arrival of Diamond Star Halos, the UK quintet--Joe Elliott [vocals], Rick Savage [bass], Rick Allen[drums], Phil Collen [guitar], and Vivian Campbell [guitar]— have just shared a powerful and rip-roaring new rock single entitled "Kick." The song thrusts into an anthemic stadium-ready frenzy kickstarted with driving guitars and bombastic drums woven into its musical fabric. Meanwhile, the chorus has all the makings of another iconic Leppard hit with its skyscraping vocals and melodies the band has become synonymous for. The artwork for Diamond Star Halos is art in itself. The design follows pedigree with their instantly recognizable album covers from their celebrated past. With images by world renowned photographer and director Anton Corbijn, styling concepts by Maryam Malakpour and graphics by the UK based Munden Brothers, the design truly follows the band's influence through their eyes today. Over the past two years, Def Leppard recorded Diamond Star Halos simultaneously in three different countries with Joe in Ireland, Sav in England, and Phil, Vivian, and Rick in the United States. Without the pressure of timelines or a fixed schedule, they poured all of their energy into crafting 15 meaningful tracks with a mixture of classic spirit meets modern fire.

Thematically, they nodded to their earliest collective influences such as David Bowie, T. Rex, and Mott The Hoople, among others. The title itself notably references T. Rex's "Bang a Gong (Get It On)." However, they didn't embark on this journey alone. The multiGrammy award winning and legendary artist Alison Krauss lent her instantly recognizable and angelic voice to "This Guitar" and "Lifeless," while David Bowie pianist Mike Garson performs on "Goodbye For Good This Time" and "Angels (Can't Help You Now)." O2 CITY HALL NEWCASTLE 25/04/22
Review by David Weddle
It is hard to believe that it has been over 25 years since the inception of rock legends Skunk Anansie, yet here we are celebrating this landmark moment with a massive 22 song setlist. Skunk Anansie, known for their hard and heavy guitar and drums mixed with the unique and powerful vocal style of lead singer Skin, made their mark on the music scene in the early 90s and have spent the last quarter of a century showing off their awesomeness to crowds across the globe. We caught their show in Newcastle upon Tyne at the O2 City Hall. The show was opened by two support acts, Canadian-British post-punk duo Shelf Lives and dark pop act Holocene.
Holocene kicked off proceedings with a great seven-song set. They woke up the audience and got a real buzz going in the room before making way for the second act of the night, Shelf Lives, who rocked the house and got the crowd warmed up nicely for the headliners Skunk Anansie. Both Shelf Lives and Holocene have been building a hardcore following and are sure to have expanded that fanbase on this tour. The atmosphere in the City Hall was building and you could feel the excitement in the air as the house lights went down. Drummer Mark Richardson was first on stage, quickly followed by guitarist Ace and bass player Cass, along with the awesome Erika Footman hitting the keys. They got to work quickly, blasting out the first track, ' Yes It's Fucking Political'. When singer Skin hit the stage dressed in black with an incredible visually theatrical headdress, the crowd went wild with joy. Skin made good use of the theremin and the Newcastle crowd loved it. The band upped the ante with superbly energetic renditions of "I Can Dream," with Skin asking the audience, "Where's my circle?" and the ever popular "Weak," which she dedicated to all the fans who have shown their support throughout the recent pandemic.
HOLOCENE
Alongside their classic tracks like "Twisted (Everyday Hurts)" and "Hedonism (Just Because You Feel Good)", which are sure fire winners with any SA audience, the band also gave us a real treat with newer music like "This Means War", and the latest single, "Can't Take You Anywhere".
The obligatory encore was well worth sticking around for. The band topped off the show with the new track "Piggy", the well loved "Brazen (Weep)" and a cover of AC/DC's "Highway To Hell". The final song of the night was "Little Baby Swastikka," another classic from their extensive ouvre.
Here's to the next 25 years.

There isn't really any show like a Skunk Anansie show, and the band outdid themselves with a highenergy, top notch performance. Even after over 25 years, the band doesn't appear to be taking their foot off the pedal and has never sounded so good. It's been a long time coming and, like most performances, suffered delays due to COVID, but this tour was well worth waiting for.

O2 CITY HALL NEWCASTLE 16/04/22 As with most musicians recently, Paul Weller has had to postpone his tour for the last two years. Following on from the release of his highly anticipated album "Fat Pop". Fear not, however, as the MOD Father himself has not lost any of his style or talent during this time. His musical prowess is as apparent now as it ever has been. With support from Australian rock quartet The Stroppies, who put on a stunning performance and warmed up the crowd nicely for Paul Weller. Showcasing their own unique sound, including tracks like "Entropy" and "Cellophane Car", the band went down well with the audience, which continued to flow into the historic music hall. Taking to the stage on the first of a two-night stint at O2 Newcastle City Hall, Paul made it clear to the sold-out crowd that it was going to be a long set to rapturous applause.
Review by David Weddle
Kicking off the night with "White Sky", with not one but two drummers thumping the tubs and each bass drum decorated with the Ukrainian flag, Paul and his crew showed us all why he is one of the best in the business. Playing a near 30 track setlist with hits like "Wild Wood" and "Start". The Jam and The Style Council rock icon had the audience rocking out from every corner of the room. While his band gave it their all and created a stunning sound that filled the room and boosted the spirits of the Geordie fans, Paul also showed off his multi-skilled musical abilities as he took to the keys for "Woo Sé Mama" and also "You Do Something To Me" during the encore. With a 45 year career, it is not surprising that Paul was able to cram so much into 2 hours and still leave the crowd hungry for more. The packed City Hall was not left disappointed, though, after watching the main man belt out classics like "Changing Man", "A Town Called Malice" and the aptly titled "That's Entertainment." A solid performance from one of the true legends of rock.

"HOMESICK" After touring the UK in 2021, SEA GIRLS are hitting it hard in 2022. Their brand new thirteen track album "Homesick" has finally dropped. The highly anticipated second album which follows on from their stunning debut "Open Up Your Head", is being supported with a series of intimate shows. The lads will showcase "Homesick" to fans up and down the UK. The album is a knockout from start to finish. SEA GIRLS have already released several tracks over the last few months, alongside official videos for "Hometown", "Lonely" and the epic hit "Sick", all of which have gone down well with their fans who will definitely not be left disappointed with "Homesick". There is plenty to choose from depending on how you feel in this album. "Again Again" feels like an extension of the epic single "Sick". It's a great track which keeps the toes tapping but could equally fill a stadium with its anthemic sound. Whereas "Lucky" has a more gritty sound with mature, thought provoking lyrical content. A proper stunner. Their sound has developed over recent years as their fanbase continues to grow. Front man Henry Camamile puts in a solid performance from start to finish, his energy and vocal ability is mirrored in his live performance which we were lucky enough to witness first hand last year. The whole band contribute equally as much to create their own, unique SEA GIRLS sound.
The album is packed full of greatness. It has the right balance of both happiness and sadness with a sprinkling of alt pop rock magic that makes "Homesick" a must listen album. The "Outstore" shows kick off in May at the following venues: 2nd May - Leeds The Wardrobe (Crash Records) 3rd May - Manchester Gorilla \r 4th May – Liverpool Arts Club (Out of Phase Records)\r 5th May – Preston Blitz (Action Records)\r 7th May – Dundee The Church (Assai Records)\r 8th May – Sheffield Foundry (Bear Tree Records)\r 10th May – Bristol The Fleece (Rough Trade)\r 11th May – Bournemouth Old Firestation (Vinilo Records)\r 12th May – Kingston Pryzm (Banquet Records) 14th May - Oxford O2 Academy (Truck Records)\r 15th May – Nottingham Rescue Rooms (Rough Trade) 16th May - Newcastle Boiler Shop\r Tickets are available at: seagirls.lnk.to/outstores
SEE YOU IN RENO "MIRRORS" EP
It has been nearly a year since Essex quartet See You In Reno released their EP "Mirrors", so we figured it was about time we gave it a spin. The E.P. has a strong start with "Atlas", giving you no illusions as to their ability to rock out. See You In Reno are undoubtedly partial to a bit of fast, heavy guitar and this is evident throughout the record. Each track brings its own distinct qualities to the party. The standout tracks for me, however, are "Nomad", which really gives the vocals a chance to shine, and "The Snake And The Worm", which kicks off with glorious guitar work. The whole EP is full of aggressive vocals with hard hitting drum work and awesome bone crunching bass topped off with stunning guitar.
When it comes to this style of music See You In Reno have it all and know exactly how to use it. Aggression with a purpose rather than aggression for the sake of it. Each track evokes an emotive response which is definitely a skill not every band has. The saying goes, 'Leave them wanting more.' See You In Reno certainly did just that. A very strong performance from each element of the band, who created a well rounded EP, having developed their sound since their 2014 E.P. "Masks", staying true to their roots while upping the bar at the same time. "Mirrors" is available to stream right now. Don't forget to follow them on their social media.
CLUB PARADISE "COLLETTE"
It has been a little while since Club Paradise released any new music but fear not as the band have not been resting on their laurels. In fact they have spent much of the last six months touring with the likes of The Magic Gang, JAWS and Casey Lowry and have filled their 2022 calendar so full with gigs and festival slots that it is amazing that they have found the time to bring you lucky people an epic festival ready anthem with their new track "Collette". The track is a sure fire crowd pleaser, with Club Paradise showing off their musical prowess. Starting slow and building to an epic crescendo which grabs your lugs and gives them a good old clear out. Toe tapping is obligatory throughout, in fact you'd be hard pushed to stop your toes from moving. The hook gets in your head and will linger after the song has ended. Club Paradise have earned their stripes and deserve every bit of success that is surely coming their way. "Collette" would be a welcome addition to any playlist so make sure it is on yours. The band are playing so many gigs this year that they will probably be playing near you at some point soon so make sure you take the opportunity to see them live. "Collette" is available to stream right now.

GHOST New album "IMPERA"
GHOST-OFFICIAL.COM
The Swedish rock band Ghost have just released their highly anticipated fifth studio album "Impera". Here is what we thought of it.
The running theme throughout the album is the rise and fall of empires. Amazingly, this is the first Ghost record I have listened to, and wow, what an introduction to the band. The album has a short atmospheric intro which starts the listening journey off well and leads the ear to the first full length song, "Kaisarion", which is a stunning track. There is only one way I can think of to describe it. Imagine taking No Prayer For The Dying era Maiden, The Darkness and The Wildhearts, combining their own unique sounds, and there you have it. That is what Kaisarion reminds me of. Seriously good work from Ghost. The whole album makes for a heart-pounding full on metal assault at times, with anthemic power ballad style vocals and guitars throughout.
The band seem to have taken the best that the genres have to offer and thrown it all at this album. There is the eighties hair metalesque "Spillway" and the fantastically heavy and dark single "Hunter's Moon". Ghost have dug deep and created what could be the perfect album. With something for everyone, it is difficult to find anything to pick at. "Impera" really does have it all. Ghost are incredibly versatile and incredibly talented. If you have yet to hear Ghost then "Impera" is a great album to showcase the band. It's available to stream right now wherever you stream your music.
Midlands-based alt rockers Chasing August are back with their latest single, "Wanderlust". The track is both distinctively different thanks to some pretty awesome vocals and comfortingly familiar with an edgy rocky feel that keeps the ear engaged and the mind chilled. 'Wanderlust" is versatile. It lends itself equally to a chill-out playlist as it would to a festival stage with its anthemic chorus and stunning instrumentals. There is gorgeous guitar work that is backed up with a solid bass line and hard hitting drums showing that Chasing August are without a doubt a class act. This is a song for those long summer days that make you feel like you can do anything and would most certainly brighten up any day. A masterpiece of 11 tracks of total guitar and drums madness, filled with moments of relentless energy throwing back to their punk and rock roots to visionary moments of modern alternative. INSAMMER vocalist Vika says: "Our third album 'Black Art' is a powerful and strong statement of the modern world. We spent almost a year in the studio during pandemic period, we wrote over 40 songs and had to choose from them. We took 11 tracks of pure rock vibrations with excellent lyrics to rock the house. For the first time in our career, we truly put it all out there. The album's lead single, "Black Art", is about dark times on the internet and hard situations on the political stage. We are all in the process of transformation".

LUGUS "Marble gods"

Combining their StadiumReady Indie Rock core with 90s Dance and a future female Pop Superstar, The Publics are reborn with ‘Marathon In Heels’
Review by David Weddle - Instagram @davidmusicnm
Cuban metal band Lugus have just released their debut album "Marble Gods". Eight tracks and a little over 40 minutes long, the album has a surprisingly large amount of awesomeness crammed into it. For a debut album, "Marble Gods" is an absolute triumph.
The genre itself divides popular opinion, but with the skill and creativity shown by Lugus on this record, it is undeniable that this is a record that can easily find itself sitting comfortably in any collection. Combine the solid, speedy riffs and the hard-hitting drums with the classic Death Metal vocal style that match any other band out there today. It's quite astounding how good this sounds and the production is absolutely spot on.
Defining this just as death metal is a bit misleading. Musically, Lugus are very much heavy metal, albeit on the thrashy side of the genre. The title track, "Marble Gods", is a prime example of this. The album gets heavier with each track. Without doubt, the heaviest track is "Grace The Skies", with its earbleedingly loud drums from the outset, Lugus gives the old tubes a good clear out. Pulling back on the heaviness for a light instrumental interlude, "The First Flame" is short but well timed and gives a moment of calm before taking you into the final track of the album, "Lord Of Cinder". A solid debut from the Cuban metallers. "Marble Gods" is definitely worth listening to again. Check it out wherever you stream your music.
Following a high-profile support slot at The Reytons’ Album launch party in November 2021, Mansfield-based Indie rockers, The Publics, released their first single of 2022, ‘Marathon In Heels’ on 25/02/22. Influenced by 2000s Indie powerhouses such as Catfish and the Bottlemen and Arctic Monkeys, the new five-piece line up of The Publics, combine aspects of 90s dance and current female pop artists, such as Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo, with their traditional, catchy riffs and powerful choruses. Marathon In Heels is fuelled with themes of regret and the need for change, portrayed using soaring gang vocals and an unforgettable riff that encourages togetherness as audiences sing their hearts out and dance until their heels break. The single was recorded at Electric-Bear Studios in the band’s hometown of Mansfield using a mixing desk previously owned by the legendary Sir Elton John. The group hope that the single can propel them into the limelight and show what Nottingham has to offer; to not only their noisy northern neighbours in Sheffield and the rest of the UK Indie Rock Scene. NIGHT SWIMS Debut album "IDLEWILD" linktr.ee/Nightswims
‘Idle/Wild’ is an exquisitely textured and finely crafted debut which has earned early recognition, praise and radio play in the States from Buzzbands LA, who described the album as ‘an expansive collection of atmospheric rock’. (Kevin Bronson, February 23rd 2022). Explains Michael, ‘I began writing songs at the start of the pandemic. I had been in bands that often lacked direction or had lacklustre songwriting, so I decided to start seriously writing songs for my own project. Over a period of about 11 months I wrote upwards of 100 songs, at which point I narrowed them down to the 10 that appear on ‘Idle/Wild’. This then led to Michael recruiting his friend, now bassist in Night Swims, Dave Savoian; the pair then began shaping the demos ‘into something more refined.’Night Swims’ inclusion of their drummer / percussionist Nathan Atwood rounded out the group, which was then completed with the addition of guitarist Tim Powers. Finding just the right group dynamic, talent, and creative force which enabled the band to release such an astonishingly accomplished debut as ‘Idle/Wild’ is a result of their painstaking attention to detail both musically and lyrically, which arose from a strong desire not to settle for the mediocre. ‘In creating the album, we never settled, and it shows’, confirms bassist Dave Savoian. ‘As a band, he says, ‘we all challenge one another without hesitation, and that reflects in what we do’. Thankfully, the stars aligned to bring about an album that is richly textured and immersive and above all, resonates with anyone who has loved, felt lost, wandered in the wilderness, and been restored and renewed - which is probably most of us at one time or another. “I believe what is special about what we have created is that we all come from different backgrounds and with various influences, yet managed to find each other in a relative way when it comes to making music. We each play how the music speaks to us, and that elevates what we do”, says Michael.

San-Diego-based Night Swims is the personal project of Ohio-raised songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist Michael Thomas, whose life followed a somewhat bohemian path that included stints lived in Chicago and Ireland before relocating to San Diego, California, where he now lives. Michael began writing the songs on what was to become the debut album ‘Idle/Wild’, as a means to address his past mistakes and future hopes into music.
‘Idle/Wild’ IS special - it’s an intensely moving and personal album, which is what lends it such importance; it asks us to listen to it. The lush sonic landscapes and poetic lyrics create a space for the listener to be drawn into Michael’s violet-tinted world, where we are invited to share in the complexities and joys of his journey thus far. Of the songs that appear on the album, he says ‘I didn’t necessarily want to say anything specific, I just wanted to tell my story. If someone gets something out of that which is relatable, all the better. My songs are quite personal, and it took a long time for me to be able to write down my life as of this point with brash honesty.’ ‘Idle/Wild’ contains the notable lead single ‘Neverless’, a track which delves into the themes of possessing the courage to be unflinchingly honest. ‘Neverless’ is about ‘confronting one’s past relationships and living with accountability at all costs’ he explains, ‘even if that means moving on without forgiveness’Acceptance of the human condition and providing an accurate reflection of its tapestry of experiences without any attempt to escape from those parts of ourselves or moments we’d rather forget, is the impetus for much of Michael’s songwriting on ‘Idle/Wild’. ‘Idle/Wild’ is an artistically unique album which gently bends and then crosses the traditional boundaries of alternative and indie genres to be inclusive of numerous others, such as rock, gospel, Americana, Psychedelia, Punk and R&B, woven into a work of true originality and beauty as a lasting testament to the reality of pain, human infallibility, and the transformative power of truth. It is also a testament to the equally transformed and talented people who initiated its creation. Night Swims’ debut album ‘Idle/Wild’ is available to listen to / purchase now on Bandcamp and major digital streaming platforms - go listen and be immersed in the magic of their music.

New Maryland-Based Rock Band YUTZI Release Biggest Single, ‘GIVE ME THE BLAME’
In one year as a band, going from playing backyard parties to headlining some of the best rock music venues in the region, YUTZI [Pronounced: YUTE-zee], is now one of the hottest emerging rock bands on the east coast and prepares to release their biggest single to-date, ‘Give Me The Blame’. Give Me The Blame, the title track of YUTZI’s upcoming 3rd EP, is a song about the difficulty of leaving a relationship to pursue your dreams. Lead singer, Tom Starr wrote the song to channel emotions he had been feeling after moving on from a relationship to pursue his dream of becoming a successful touring musician. YUTZI’s sound is explosive, soulful, and versatile; their hard bluesy-rock sound conjures the likes of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, or The Black Keys, their psychedelic flare will remind listeners of Jimi Hendrix or Pink Floyd, and their softer ballads and folkier rock songs might give impressions of The Beatles or Cat Stevens. Give Me The Blame features guitars, drums, keyboards, bass, saxophone, cello, viola, violins, and multiple vocalists, and marks the band’s evolution into a more mainstream, commercial sound. After a busy first year; releasing 10 songs on streaming platforms, receiving radio play, getting a song placed in a featured documentary film, releasing a full-length music video, booking music festivals, and watching crowd sizes grow into the hundreds, YUTZI prepares to embark on its mid-Atlantic “Give Me The Blame” tour, with stops at historic venues in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Raleigh, and Richmond. Give Me The Blame’s accompanying NPR Tiny Desk Contest video will debut one week after the song’s April release.
YUTZI was formed by childhood friends and elementary school rock band-mates Tom Starr (Vocals, Guitar) and Austin Lasky (Drums), and named after their first music teacher, Mr. Yutzy
