Innovators of Metal, Anthrax have extended their 40 year Anniversary tour with a 28 day European tour and will be hitting UK shores this autumn. Bringing their unique blend of Metal to an eager audience, Anthrax have an amazing and bountiful back catalogue to choose from. The UK leg of the tour will see the band supported by Municipal Waste, a punk metal group who have been making music together since 2001. A perfect pairing and bound to be a sure-fire crowd pleaser. Over a career spanning four decades, the band has released eleven studio albums, been the recipient of gold and silver certifications, and received six Grammy nominations, to name just a few of their accolades. The band's contribution to the Metal genre is immeasurable, tackling the divide between rap and metal and embracing it with "Bring The Noise," a collaboration with Public Enemy. The band's massive hit "Got The Time" was played by NASA as an alarm to wake the Mars Rover in 2012, making Anthrax the first Metal band to be played on Mars. As one of The Big Four, alongside Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer, Anthrax have carried the flag for Metal for the best part of half a century. The highly anticipated 40th Anniversary tour has a heck of a lot to offer, and the band are looking forward to rocking the UK once more: "It sure has been a long time since we rock'n'rolled in the UK and Europe," said Anthrax's Charlie Benante, "but we're coming back soon to bring the noise to all of you guys. Being that we can't get over there until 2022, we're going to make sure that every show will be an eventful one. We won't just be playing four decades of songs to celebrate our ongoing 40th anniversary - hey, we'll be giving YOU some history! - but we just might have some brand new ones for you as well. Can't wait to see all your happy, smiling faces!!!" On this tour, fans can expect Anthrax - Joey Belladonna/vocals, Scott Ian/rhythm guitar, Frank Bello/bass, Charlie Benante/drums, and Jon Donais/guitar to draw from all four decades - fan favourite and deep cuts - for their nightly setlist. "There's just something special about Europe," said Belladonna. "Our fans there have always had a full-fledged excitement about our shows, and I enjoy performing more than anyone can imagine, so we're really looking forward to this tour."

BLACK STONE CHERRY are excited to announce a very special London event to mark the arrival of their forthcoming 'Live From The Royal Albert Hall... Y'All' release, which is set to land via Mascot Label Group on Friday 24th June. A concert film and documentary of the Kentucky band's triumphant show at the iconic London venue is set to premiere at the Prince Charles Cinema, Leicester Square, W1 on Monday 20th June, with the band in attendance. Frontman/guitarist Chris Robertson, guitarist Ben Wells, drummer John Fred Young and new bassist Steve Jewell will be participating in a fan Q&A, together with movie director, Mike Rodway, directly following the screening. Just 250 tickets are available for this intimate event, which will go on sale at 10am this Wednesday 8th June, with an O2 pre-sale available from 10am today, Monday 6th June. Purchase yours here. Doors open at 7pm, with proceedings kicking off at 7.30pm sharp. BLACK STONE CHERRY's Ben Wells confesses: "It's not every day you get the privilege to play the Royal Albert Hall. It's not every day you get to film your show at the Royal Albert Hall. But what is guaranteed, is that this is our most badass, in-your-face, emotional and passion driven document of our band to date. We could not be more excited to not only release this to the world, but to be able to return to London and premiere it with you!! We will also be hosting a Q&A for all of your questions, as will our dear friend and director of this piece, Mike Rodway. England, it's impossible to stay away too long! We'll see you the 20th!"

On Wednesday 29th September 2021 - the year of the band's 20th Anniversary - Kentucky's favourite sons, BLACK STONE CHERRY, realised that childhood dream of playing at the legendary London venue. Check out a teaser from the documentary below. The corresponding CD/BluRay release is available to preorder here in various formats: digital, CD & BluRay, double vinyl and an online exclusive double vinyl in transparent red. From clubs to arenas and festival headline performances, no one puts on the kind of show that BLACK STONE CHERRY do. The band were one of the first international acts to tour the UK following the Covid19 lockdown restrictions easing, and they gave every single fan in attendance that night, a shot of euphoric happiness. Talking about playing the iconic venue, drummer John-Fred Young said, "To be honest, I was terrified. You think about how many great acts have played the place. The prestige behind it. We've wanted to play the Royal Albert Hall since the first UK tour in 2007. Walking in that place, it's just breathtaking. You walk on that stage, and you say, we did it, and it's a feeling that I will cherish for the rest of my life." The Blu-Ray's live footage is interspersed with behind-thescenes interviews, fly on the wall footage and archival insights into the band as kids first starting out, snippets of their first ever UK tour and heartfelt moments of reflection. But ultimately 'Live From The Royal Albert Hall... Y'All' was about bringing rock 'n' roll to London, Kentucky style.

Review and photos by David Weddle

Rock n Roll Circus Newcastle Festival season is upon us again and Newcastle is playing host to several high profile events, including the Rock N Roll Circus. Spread across two days, the carnivalesque event featured stilt walkers, acrobatics, trapeze and more, all under a rather large circus style tent. Alongside the circus acts, there was a good selection of street food vendors offering everything from hot dogs and loaded fries to ice cream and cocktails. With the tent pitched on Newcastle's historic Town Moor, the stage was set for some of music's biggest names to perform for an eager Geordie audience. The first night saw local lad Andrew Cushin open up the proceedings to his home crowd before passing on the baton to Confidence Man, The Charlatans, and headliner and rock 'n' roll legend Noel Gallagher with his High Flying Birds.

We were lucky enough to catch day two of the Rock N Roll Circus, which featured a star studded line-up, including opener Zela, who got the crowd going with a high octane, full on set. They went down well with the audience and set the atmosphere for the rest of the show. After a short break, The Reytons took to the stage and gave a performance that blew us away. They have a loyal fanbase who showed up to support them and got involved with the performance, which helps, but the band were in top form. With plenty of interaction with the crowd and giving a fresh feeling performance, it is clear to see why The Reytons have made such a big impact on the music and festival scene. If we weren't awake beforehand, we certainly were after The Reytons. The circus acts filled in while the stage was reset and people had the opportunity to take in the atmosphere of the day before getting another earful of rock and roll from Australian rockers DMA's.

Another solid festival favourite, DMA's put on an epic performance and were a perfect fit with the Newcastle crowd. Playing a solid set of bangers, DMA's showed us exactly why they are one of the best live acts on the scene right now. After a music filled day, it was finally time for headliners The Libertines, to take to the stage. The crowd had waited eagerly for the rock icons and let it rip when the band walked onstage. The rockers gave it their all, with front men Carl Barât and North East son Pete Doherty bouncing off each other with the same spark and musical chemistry they are renowned for. The Newcastle audience were not left disappointed as The Libertines played a plethora of hits. They knew what the people wanted and made sure they got it. With ears ringing and a warm glow from the positively charged atmosphere in the tent, it was time to leave, but with a happy heart filled with awesome music from awesome acts. During the interlude, spectators were treated to circus acts spread throughout the huge tent, as well as the opportunity to take advantage of refreshments from the plentiful bars and food stands.

The facilities (toilets) were well organised and the security gates were well staffed. The organisers made sure there was plenty of staff picking up litter, and the whole area was kept very clean. All things considered, the Rock N Roll Circus was well worth the wait. It would have been good to have a little more outside seating space around the food stalls, but that was really the only thing I could pick at. The organisation was great, the security was on point and the hospitality was efficient and friendly. Mixed with superb circus entertainment and legendary musical acts, this is certainly an event to remember. Long live Rock 'n' Roll.

Kimonos & Cowboy Boots The Do's & Don'ts of Festivals Fashion & Tips

From Glastonbury to Coachella, LooseFest to Download, 2022 has been the year so far that has showcased the best music festival style in an age. The key? Combining effortless style with comfort and we mean practical comfort that looks anything but, sashaying round in a floaty kimono when the heavens open can turn your boho to ghastly in minutes. We've thrown in some insider tips to max out your experience.

Rule #4 Look for a transparent waterproof jacket. Your festival style will stay on show, but you will be feeling dry and cute. At the very least put a bin liner in your bag. Tear a hole in the top and for your arms and drop it over til the rain stops. DON'T take an umbrella, you will be blocking someone's view and that's never great.

Rule #1 Anything goes. No matter how daring you think you look, when you get to the music festival, there will always be a more dramatic look.

Rule #5 Posh toilets. Look for festivals that have decent or even 'posh loos'. Ask anyone who has attended a festival or large event, what was the least enjoyable aspect and the same answer if given every time. The toilets. This can be an extra cost, but definitely worth it.

Rule #2 Glastonbury saw a strong Kimono & Cowboot style with barely a wellie boot in sight. Lesson? Upgrade your footwear, think thick chunky ankle boots or flat boots. Ditch the sandals as one drop of rain can turn the ground into a muddy mess and you don't want to feel the mud squelching through your toes. Rule #3 Feeling fashion nervous? Take your current personal style and add in some classic festival looks. Dig out the denim shorts, wax your legs and slap on some fake tan. Pull out that boho top that is lurking at the back of the wardrobe and pick up a Kimono - go for the longest style. Put some glitter on and a flower headband and you're almost ready to go ..

Rule #6 "Fringe" was everywhere on the runway this season. A fringed cross body bag or fringed boots will immediately give that festival vibe. Just watch out for cheap cotton fringing on that kimono, all tangled up and snagged is NOT a good look. Rule #6 (the practical one) Take a bum bag - you can have a crossbody bag too, but this is the best way to keep your money, cards and phone safe. Write down your friends numbers in case your phone dies.

Rule #7 Bikini tops are not just for the beach. Swap your bra for a bikini top, top it with a cute cut-up T shirt and wear under denim dungarees or shorts. Super comfy and cute. Rule #8 Double denim is back! Denim jackets are practical, keep the chill off your shoulders or tie round your waist. Rule #9 Have a buddy system to make sure you all stay safe. Think about places to meet if your phone battery dies, you lose your friends or have no signal. Rule #10 Slap on the sunscreen. Don't let your lasting memory of the music festival be sunstroke. Rule #11 Most music festivals have an early bird rate, book your tickets then. Follow them on social media as its the most likely place that they will share deals. Rule #12 Hydration is really important, even if you drink water in-between alcoholic drinks. Think about a compact waterproof (see rule #4). Loads of styles to choose from & if all else fails pack some bin bags (this can double up to take your rubbish with you), Pack a snack, a protein bar, baby wipes, tissues and flip flops.

Music festival expert and one of the founding members of www.LooseFest.co.uk, one of the largest music festivals in the North of England, taking place this summer with the Black Eyed Peas, Mabel and over 90 music acts,Dean Saunders said; "music festivals have evolved, it's not just about the music anymore, at LooseFest 2022 we have a food village, carnival, ferris wheel and posh toilets. Look for the music festival that gives the best experience and don't be put off by music you don't recognise, it's a chance to see what's out there." ooseFest is the largest music festival in L the North of England and takes place on 30th and 31st July 2022

INTRODUCING

The Inidie Musicians Collective are a pop-up collective of DIY musicians who seek not to focus on a distinctive sound, but a melting pot of the different flavours of music you might find in a record store.

Tender Vendetta, are a raucous and unpredictable Hard-rock band from Wolverhampton, fronted by Matty Nicholls (vocals), brothers Aiden Hall (guitar) & Jordan Hall (bass) and backed by Sam Hill (drums). They formed in January 2020 just a few months before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Feeling discouraged they wrote two songs about the situation; their debut single ‘Know Your Rights’ which was released on 20th May, and ‘No Rest’ which is scheduled for release at the end of July. Tender Vendetta's debut single "Know Your Rights", as aforementioned was written and recorded during the height of the global pandemic. Feeling displaced, disenchanted and that workingclass voices were being more than neglected, "Know Your Rights", channels the band’s frustrations over the last two years into a 3.49 cacophony of seething aggression directed at the global political leaders and media that still continue to let us all down.

The band eventually played their first live show after the lockdown in August 2021 and have been gigging around the West Midlands ever since. Their music can best be described as an unflinching and unapologetic brand of Hard-rock with “catchy riffs and melodic hooks” that frequently draw comparisons with Sex Pistols and Guns N’ Roses. Tender Vendetta's live performances deliver “that old school Hard-rock attitude which we all miss from rock and roll.” They have been described as having an “infectious vibe and energy akin to the original line-up of Guns N’ Roses”, our most obvious influence which stretches to the likes of Alice in Chains, Motorhead, The Beatles and many more.

The brain child of Mark Gee, manager of indie band Sky Diving Penguins, IMC was formed during lockdown with the aim of helping artists with the distribution of their physical music. Particularly focussing on artists you may not normally see in a record store rather than a particular genre or sound. On the 16th of July, the collective will have their very first stall at the Independent Label Market in Kings Cross, London. ICM will have lathe-cut limited edition vinyl, specially commissioned artwork, and brand new releases to share with the public, alongside stalls of well-known independent record labels such as 4AD, Bella Union, PIAS, and Rough Trade. "Themed around the success of pop-up restaurants and bars, we will offer customers the chance to sample our prime cuts from our offline menu, featuring tracks from our first compilation album." With a strong start Indie Music Collective have given hope to artists who previously struggled to get their name out there and will now be working with renowned independent music retailer, Norman Records, who will be placing their products for sale to the public very soon. RELEASE HEARTFELT TRACK "NEVERMIND" ALSO ANNOUNCE INTIMATE INSTORE DATES FOR JULY ALBUM THE PRESENT IS A FOREIGN LAND OUT 15TH JULY, PREORDER Now LONG-AWAITED UK HEADLINE TOUR KICKS OFF IN NOVEMBER TICKETS ON SALE

Pop/rock outfit Deaf Havana have just released an incredibly heartfelt and honest song, in the form of Nevermind. The stripped-back track showcases the more vulnerable side of frontman James Veck-Gilodi's song-writing prowess. James explains of the track, "Nevermind is the second song we wrote for The Present is a Foreign Land and it is maybe my favourite on the record. This song is about the back end of 2019/first few months of 2020, which was pretty much the lowest point of my life to date. I tried to channel that emotion into the vocals when I recorded it. We tried to keep it simple on this with mainly keys, guitar and strings to really let the lyrics come through. This one means a hell of a lot to me so I really hope people connect with it!"

Deaf Havana headlined the Rock Sound stage at Slam Dunk Festival earlier this month, to a packed out crowd. The band will headline their second festival of the year, at Burn It Down Festival in Torquay, on Saturday 3rd September. The pair were invited by Don Broco to support them at London's historic Royal Albert Hall in March, on behalf of Teenage Cancer Trust and shortly before this, the duo made a triumphant return to the stage at a sold out intimate show at Lafayette in London.

The band have also just announced a string of intimate shows in celebration of the release of their album, The Present Is A Foreign Land. The first show is in Kingston at Banquet Records on the day of release (Friday 15th July), and will hit stops in Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Southampton before finishing up at Brighton's Resident Records on 21st July. Deaf Havana also recently announced the long-awaited news of a UK headline tour. They will kick things off at Cardiff's Tramshed on 8th November, making their way around stops in Nottingham, Manchester and at London's Roundhouse on 12th November, before wrapping things up in Glasgow at SWG3 on 14th November.

In 2020, Deaf Havana were ready to go their separate ways after a decade together, but then the pandemic hit and they had no choice but to stop. Despite the band making the tough decision to call it a day, Matty continued to write songs and it was this that brought him and brother James back together after a turbulent few months. The two-piece decided to continue as Deaf Havana, and holed themselves up in a studio in Hastings with producer Mike Horner (Hot Chip, Jess Glynne, YONAKA and more). The result is The Present Is A Foreign Land; a mature and accomplished body of work. The 12-track album will consist of previously released singles, On The Wire, Kids and Going Clear.

Deaf Havana have risen through the ranks during their time as a band, earning themselves coveted accolades including three Top 10 albums in the Official Charts with Rituals, All These Countless Nights, and Old Souls. 2018 saw them play their biggest headline show to date at Brixton Academy, alongside appearances at festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Mad Cool and Pukkelpop. Since then, Deaf Havana have played a sold out German headline tour, their biggest UK headline tour and their debut festival headline slot, at 2000 Trees.

RELEASE 'IN MY HEAD', THE FIFTH CHAPTER OF THEIR UPCOMING EIGHT CHAPTER ALBUM 'BLACK HEART' Essex-based rock four-piece Palps are pleased to announce the release of their debut album 'Black Heart' on October 7th 2022. Since their formation in 2018, this is the group's most ambitious work to date. The follow up to the band's 2020 debut EP 'Letters To You (That I'll Never Send)', Black Heart sees Palps turn their eight-track album into a harrowing eight-chapter short story which highlights the daily struggles of someone navigating their poor mental health and how it affects not only them but those around them. Across each of the tracks' music videos, we are introduced to four characters, the story's protagonist Matt, plus Rose, Charlotte and the Plague Doctor. The story deepens and grows with each single release, with the room, at times tidy and decorated and at others cluttered or destroyed representing Matt's mental state, whilst the Plague Doctor character represents his suicidal thoughts. Produced, mixed and mastered with Jack Twiner at Pyramid Studios in Reading, every track on the album unravels and pieces itself back together song by song, yet somehow manages to end up someplace uglier and more uncertain than the track before.

Prior to the album's release comes its latest single 'In My Head', the fifth chapter of the album's story, released today (July 1st). Speaking about the single, vocalist and lyricist Alex Gray says, "In My Head is all about my personal struggles with health anxiety. I basically lost close to 5 years of my life to health anxiety, starting in 2017 when I became convinced I had some sort of heart condition that had somehow gone undiagnosed. In my more lucid moments, I would tell myself that if I had a serious health condition that had gone undiagnosed for years, I would have been long dead by now, but the constant palpitations and strange burning sensation in my chest would always return and I would be right back to where I started. This is also where the name Palps came from." In this chapter of the album's short film, Matt is seen to be making an effort to take up healthy practices in order to get his life back on track. He's seen applying for jobs, starting up running and, towards the end of the chapter, starting his first day at work. The Plague Doctor is then shown again, symbolising that his dark thoughts and demons never stay away for long.

NEW MUSIC Backdrop Falls Releases second single "Mona Lisa" from upcoming album "Fairytales and Fireworks" Sum 41, Against Me, Face to Face, Hellacopters... These are some of the bands Brazilian quartet Backdrop Falls has opened for throughout their six-year career and that gives away a pretty good overview of what they are all about. Catchy choruses you can sing along to, thick alt-rock riffs and dead honest pop punk and punk rock sensibilities are a few of the band's biggest assets and their new single "Mona Lisa" showcases just that. Perfect fit for your "Rock This" or "All New Punk" playlists. The song is part of the band's new album release "Fairytales and Fireworks" which will be released in the second half of 2022. The quartet was formed in 2016 in the coastal city of Fortaleza, Brazil, after being conceived and created by vocalist/guitarist/composer Matheus Collyer. NEW MUSIC MIYA MIYA “H8 ME 2” Back with another epic alt-pop banger, rising Brit band MIYA MIYA officially unveil their explosive new single “H8 Me 2” – after initially releasing via Tik Tok earlier in April this year. Brimming with an addictive ‘00s pop-punk nostalgia, “H8 Me 2” blazes with electric guitars and punching drums for a track bursting with powerhouse energy. A fierce anthem of frustration, “H8 Me 2” explores a toxic infatuation via the band’s winning formula of intimate, catchy storytelling and larger-than-life pop sounds. Complete with a hugely irresistible chorus, MIYA MIYA’s new slice of anthemic pop is set to be the soundtrack to summer. MIYA MIYA made the following statement about “H8 Me 2”: “It's a love/hate letter towards us breaking the mould and becoming an independent band. In January we were in between finishing songs and were trailing through all the old favourite films that made us feel nostalgic. We came across 10 Things I Hate About You and, with what we were going through at the time, it felt like such a great idea for a song; we jumped in the studio, grabbed the acoustic guitar and wrote the hook in what felt like very little time. We also felt most current love songs were a bit one-sided, so wanted to flip it on its head and write about the side of a relationship people don't tend to sing about. Leah Kate clearly caught the same wave!” Comprised of lead vocalists Gini and Jordan, guitarist Gio and drummer James, MIYA MIYA’s songs, features & co-writes have gone on to amass a whopping 100M+ streams since their debut in 2020, with their latest bop proving to be widely anticipated having already

amassed 11M+ views from teasers on TikTok. “H8 Me 2” follows on from a slurry of well-received releases including “Cool”, “Rules” and “Want You” – the latter of which having featured on last year’s season of Love Island. Earning acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, Wonderland, The Independent, Clash, Songwriting Magazine, ENFNTS TERRIBLES, When the Horn Blows and The Rodeo, MIYA MIYA have also won key backing from Spotify’s New Music Friday, BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing to position them as a key band on the rise. Making their official live debut in November 2021 at their sold-out headline show at Notting Hill Arts Club, MIYA MIYA’s gripping, dynamic stage presence has seen them support alt-pop band Flawes at London’s Omeara, as well as land a coveted slot at BBC Radio 1 DJ Gemma Bradley’s Whiplash live series and Norwich’s Neck of the Woods. Confidently emerging as rebellious pop prospects with an ever-growing audience, MIYA MIYA continue their path as one of the most exciting names coming up in British pop.

SHREDD RELEASE COLOSSAL NEW SINGLE "PARASITE"

Garage-rock trio Shredd have announced the release of their splintering new single, Parasite. Released on 10th June, the forthcoming release marks a huge return for the Glasgow band who, after a two year hiatus, are back - louder, and more destructive than ever. After being crowned Best Newcomers at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in 2017 with their debut EP ‘Every Time We Meet I Want To Die’, Shredd have been busy cementing themselves as one of the most exciting acts working in Scotland. With slots at festivals up and down the UK, including BBC 6 Music Festival, Stag & Dagger, Tenement Trail, Meet The North, Xpo North and Freakender; as well as being tapped for support by an incredible array of artists, including Fontaines D.C, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Declan Welsh & The Decadent West, Shredd have built a fierce fanbase, gaining them a reputation as one of the most incendiary live acts in the U.K.

Parasite only furthers Shredd’s resistance to limitation. Unshackled and firing on all cylinders, the forthcoming release sweeps the listener inside a light-speed exercise in apocalyptic garage. “The voices in my head won’t go, I dread; The secrets in my skull, have now all bled,” guitarist and frontman Chris Harvie snarls. With vertigo-inducing vocals and drums and guitars that charge like wildfire, Shredd are a force to be reckoned with. Speaking on the forthcoming single, the band said: “Parasite is one of a number of songs written during the various lockdowns over the last couple of years. Lyrically, it deals with the anxiety and overthinking that a lot of people have to deal with on a daily basis - especially over the last couple of years - and how that leaches on to your brain like a parasite, sometimes pushing you to do silly things. Musically, we wanted this to be as loud and aggressive as possible, leaving everything out there. It’s our first release in a couple of years, it captures all the pent up energy from not being able to play for so long and we are so excited for people to hear what we think is our best single yet - we’re back, get ready!” Shredd are: guitarist and vocalist Chris Harvie, drummer Calum Wilson and bassist Mark Macdonald.

NEW MUSIC Bristol-based emo punk-rock three-piece Trashed are due to release their upcoming single ‘Memories’ Bristol-based emo punk-rock threepiece Trashed are due to release their upcoming single ‘Memories’ on July 15th, the third single taken from their debut full-length album due later this year. The trio take energetic punk rock and down-tune it to Slipknot depths, creating sludgy and visceral edges tied together with hooky melodies. The band slammed onto the scene with their debut single Waste Away from their subsequent debut EP Yours Not Mine in 2019, which was met with critical acclaim and saw them play a handful of successful UK shows, making a name for themselves as ones to watch, before the release of their second EP Faceplant came in the Spring of 2020. With a 2020 full of potential ripped out from under them, the stresses of the pandemic were potent. That, mixed with a flurry of mental health issues for vocalist Jimmy, saw Trashed turn their isolation into a concept album of expression, writing eleven tracks about all aspects of their personal struggles with depression, anxiety, love, and loss.

Memories, the third single from the band’s upcoming full-length Happy In Hindsight, recorded with Neil D. Kennedy (Creeper, Boston Manor, Milk Teeth) is a break up song about a snapped heart being pulled apart by naivety. Pairing emotive heart-onsleeve lyrics with catchy melodies and distorted guitar riffs, Memories is the perfect heartbreak anthem. Speaking about the single, the band state, “Memories came together very quickly. It’s about trying too hard to let go of someone while your brain clings tighter and tighter to them. Of course written during a dose of heartbreak Jimmy was going through, it’s relatable and sincere… and will probably stick in your head like heartache does.”

Mr Justin Hawkins - "Legend tells of a night, some ten or more years ago, upon which The Darkness and Black Stone Cherry serenaded the nocturnal creatures of Thetford Forest, receiving generally favourable reviews in the woodland press. Like the owls and squirrels of that fabled evening, we give to you an opportunity to stand beaks and mouths a-gape in awe and wonder at the awesome power of power chords played by the very same fingers, but within the convenient shelter of an arena instead of in a moon-dappled forest clearing. There may be some seating so you won't have to sit on toadstools. Also, modern flushing toilet facilities, not just tree trunks and bushes. Remember what the Thetford fauna say - "The music of Black Stone Cherry and The Darkness is TREEmendous, and Never LEAVES you." Black Stone Cherry - "The rock n' roll history books will tell you that on a summer's night in 2012, tucked way back in the English countryside, two bands, from different parts of the world, came together to bring people a night of high energy, pedal to the metal, in your face unscripted rock 'n' roll. A bond was formed that could only have been blessed by the wizards of said forest. While discussing each other's outfits and stage moves, a tour was spoken of, put into the galaxy if you will, and now we are honored to say the stars have finally aligned and we will be joining forces with The Darkness for what will be the UK's most exciting tour of the season! We absolutely cannot wait to create more magic and release the lightning that both bands caught in a bottle so many years ago. Grab your friends, grab your family, but hold on to your asses because this tour is going to ROCK!"

Glasgow, Scotland's loud scrunge trio Triptych are influenced by Biffy Clyro and Fugazi and they fuse offtime rhythmic meters and progressive math rock ideals to forge a fresh new sound. They've just released their third single "I Made Too Much Pasta" and it's accompanying video directed by Colin Black from their forthcoming debut album Sundown out later this year via Grunge Pop Records. Here's what the singer/guitarist Finn Hennessy said about the track: "The song was one of the quickest songs I've ever written. I wrote it in about 15 minutes and it acted as catharsis when I needed it most. I Made Too Much Pasta follows the lyrical themes of dealing with change. The lyrics are quite literal at times, detailing a specific time in my life - but it's only half of the story, the other half will come with the rest of the record. Musically, I feel this song also shows half of our story as it shows the emo-tinged Alt rock side to our sound."

AYONI “BEFORE I PROSPER”

Bajan singer and multi-instrumentalist Ayoni offers another tantalising glimpse into her upcoming EP with the new single “Before I Prosper” – following on from the stunning “You Said I Love You Too Soon.” An electro-pop powerhouse with her own unique soundscape, curating her style with a talent for technical production, a series of synths and metallic production elements dance over “Before I Prosper” pushing the boundaries of the genre. A truly dynamic single, the changing paces blend moments of earnest quietness next to those with all the energy of a pop bop, with Ayoni’s shining vocal talent at its core. Acknowledging a lack of clarity, Ayoni delicately enables the anger and frustration of humanity in the track. Diving into disclosure, she finds healing through honouring her growth in the metaphorical darkness that ultimately leads to the light.

Born in Barbados but now splitting her time between LA and London, Ayoni grew up bouncing around Singapore, Indonesia and America – something she frequently draws on to guide her musical journey as both a young, Black woman and an immigrant. Building a fanbase via beautiful singles like “If You Leave” and “The Patriots”, Ayoni’s acclaimed debut project Iridescent saw her break through with a brilliant exploration of the ups and downs of blossoming into her full self. Taking part in the Black Lives Matter movement with the poignant “Unmoved (A Black Woman Truth),” the 2020 single cemented Ayoni’s status as a bold new artist unafraid to confront raw truths in her music. Racking up millions of streams and co-signs coming in strong from the likes of V Magazine, DJ Booth, Popsugar, Our Culture, NPR, Euphoria, She Makes Music and The Wild Honey Pie, Ayoni proved her potential as a multi-faceted creative when she coproduced and featured on Ricky Reed’s “No Stone” with Dirty Projectors. Continuing to push sonic boundaries by infusing her moody and ethereal pop sound with a beautiful adaptation of island soul, Ayoni is set to break new ground as a rising pop prospect. With Ayoni’s EP soon to come in August, keep your eyes hooked on her.

INDIE ROCK TRIO GOLDPARK SHARE NEW SINGLE, "COVERED IN SUNSHINE" "Covered in Sunshine" is the second single from Goldpark's forthcoming sophomore EP and follows the lead single, "Lady Lightyear." The band co-wrote "Covered in Sunshine" with Trent Dabbs (Kacey Musgraves, Ingrid Michaelson, COIN) and Jeremy Lutito (Needtobreathe, Joy Oladokun, Colony House) produced the track.

indie-rock trio Goldpark — the project of Nashville-based musicians Wes Hunter (vocals), Andrew Smith (guitar) and Kyle Neblett (drums) — are back with their new single, "Covered in Sunshine." Goldpark hone in on their arena-ready rock sound with "Covered in Sunshine." Swelling with bright guitar riffs, groove-infused bass and anthemic percussion, the song builds towards an irrepressible chorus destined to be sung by future crowds: "Covered in sunshine / Part of life / Covered in sunshine / Today don't feel so heavy." Lead vocalist Wes Hunter expands on the simple yet powerful meaning of the song: "'Covered in Sunshine' is about the power of stepping outside. All of these problems, anxieties, and fears that have come from a reliance on technology feel a little less heavy when we step into the sunlight. That's where we realize where 'real life' actually lives. Being a 'part of life' isn't being fully connected at all times with the world around us through a viewfinder. It's being a part of the outside world we forget about so often."

Goldpark released their debut EP, 'Goldpark One,' in August 2021 on Hazel Street Records. Now, after nearly a year of touring around the US with a mix of solo shows, support gigs and festival slots, the trio are ready to share a whole new collection of songs. "[This EP] is special for so many reasons," they remark. "We had the right songs, the right producer, and the right spirit. This body of work is the best representation of who we are and where we are going. We hope this EP makes people smile." THE CRUEL INTENTIONS "VENOMOUS ANONYMOUS" Rating:

Review by David Weddle

The Cruel Intentions have hit the airwaves again with their latest album "Venomous Anonymous", a power rock, rifftastic, no holds barred, kick ass album. Packed full of everything you could want from a rock band like The Cruel Intentions, think Motley Crue meets G'n'R meets Love/Hate and you will have a fair idea of what to expect. The Norwegian sleaze rockers have taken the best of the genre and given it a fresh, exciting twist, giving the album a nostalgic feel with a modern edge. Choosing an opener for any album is difficult, but the band have pulled it off with "Reapercussion", letting us into their world of Rock 'n'Roll. The album definitely has the feel good factor from start to finish, each track toe tappingly worthy of a second play.

"Venomous Anonymous" is an album full of banging tracks, eager to celebrate the band's rock roots while bringing the genre to a new younger audience. It was difficult to choose just one, but our top track is "Final Deathroll." With its stunning riff at the start and the catchy chorus, it has it all. Fast paced, uplifting and skilfully crafted to scratch that sleaze rock itch. "Venomous Anonymous", is available to stream right now on Spotify. THE CRUEL INTENTIONS ARE: Lizzy DeVine - Vocals & Guitar Kristian Solhaug - Guitar Mats Wernerson- Bass Robin Nilsson - Drums

PULSE PARK "phonac music" Review by David Weddle

Rating:

www.pulse-park.com Indie rock trio Pulse Park have recently released their debut album "phonac music" on Shore Drive Records. Having formed during the recent pandemic and releasing their debut EP in 2020, Pulse Park have been concentrating on refining their sound and creating a fantastically curated album. The band's German and Canadian roots make for a true international, musical collaboration. The coming together of Magnusson (guitar and vocals), Frank Hagan (bass/guitar) and Oliver Polastri (drums), has given the world a must listen to sound. The album grabs attention from the very first track and manages to hold it throughout the entire ten tracks.

Demonstrating the band's musical talent and the ability to make a damn good song, "phonac music" is the perfect introduction to Pulse Park. The vocals are on point, and Frank and Oliver compliment Magnusson perfectly. If you like indie-rock then you are going to love this album. REVIEW: MEGADETH "WE'LL BE BACK"

Review by David Weddle

Rating:

As far as metal bands go, it doesn't get more iconic than Megadeth. The leviathans of the metal world are back with their brand new single, "We'll Be Back". The first release from their highly anticipated forthcoming album, "The Sick, The Dead, and The Dying" has been released alongside an emotionally charged video which depicts the gruesome reality of war. Dave Mustaine's performance is solid as a rock, with the pioneer of the genre making it clear that he and his band are back and are just as captivating as ever. Powerful lyrics and stunning vocals make for a classic Megadeth sound, while the hard and heavy instrumental elements bring a wry smile to the face of a veteran Megadeth fan like myself. There is no doubt that the band have seen their fair share of anomalies of late, none more so than Dave, who has bounced back from his illness with a vigour and power in his voice that is reassuringly familiar.

When it comes to making music that moves you, nobody does it better than Megadeth. "We'll Be Back", is a sign of great things to come from the new album and is sure to be a fan favourite moving forward. It's available to stream right now wherever you stream your music. RAYOWA "GOOD LIFE" Review by David Weddle

Rating: 80's disco has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years, with more of us seeking that sense of freedom that the feel good genre has to offer. With the stresses of modern living dragging us all down, the baton of joy, happiness, and boogie has been picked up by sibling trio Rayowa, and boy oh boy are they running with it. Raised on an Essex council estate, brothers Dan, Reece and Luke Baker have had no formal musical training and are proudly self-taught producers and multi-instrumentalists. Using their skills to bring you their own brand of funkfilled, soulful disco, Rayowa have certainly made their mark. Having supported big name acts like Craig Charles and playing alongside Diana Ross and Nile Rodgers & Chic at the Cambridge Club Festival, the brothers are going from strength to strength.

Their latest track 'Good Life', taken from the group's forthcoming EP, has already had over 2.5 million Spotify streams and has been played on Nick Grimshaw's Radio 1 drivetime show. The track is the musical embodiment of the feel good factor. Harnessing a funky bass line which holds the ear throughout, 'Good Life' has all the ingredients of a summer smash hit. If you are feeling a bit forlorn and need a pick-me-up, add this to your playlist and let the lads take your mind to a place where your worries slip away and all that is left behind is an urge to move your feet to the funky disco beat of Rayowa. With such a strong start to their career, it is clear that the future really is bright for this band of brothers.

Pale Wizard Records David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust: 50 Years Later Review by David Weddle On the 16th of June 1972, 50 years ago, the legendary master of music, David Bowie, released his iconic 5th album, "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars", or "Ziggy Stardust". The album took David’s status as a cult hero to the next level, and he quickly became the worldwide superstar that we all remember him as. As a part of Pale Wizard’s 50 Years Later series, the album has been lovingly recreated with a plethora of amazing acts taking on the Bowie classic. Each act takes a track from the album and pays tribute to Bowie’s original with their own unique style. Featuring twelve phenomenal acts, including UK band Raging Speedhorn, who tackled the lead single from the album "Suffragette City". The band have done an outstanding job of giving a new perspective on the track with a heavy sound and gritty vocals. They stayed true to the essence of the original while giving it a hard rock edge. Great work! Other great acts include, among others, Suns of Thunder, Possessor, Kong Social, and the might Sergeant Thunderhoof, whose version of bonus track "The Jean Genie" is a real triumph. Keeping the same 70's rock vibe with a clean modern feel. Standing out from the rest of the album, possibly because of the nostalgia associated with the track, was Mother Vulture and their cover of "Starman." They didn’t play around with it too much and have paid tribute to the original with the care and respect it deserves.

Pale Wizard have made the album available on CD and all major streaming platforms, which features 3 bonus tracks, as well as two variants on 12 inch vinyl. "The Prettiest Star" edition, transparent blue, limited to 600 copies worldwide; and the "Black Country Rock" edition, limited to just 200 copies worldwide. Visit their website to grab your copy. ALBUM TRACKLISTING: Five Years - Sail Soul Love - Son of Boar Moonage Daydream - Tony Reed Starman - Mother Vulture It Ain’t Easy - Deltanaut Lady Stardust - The Lunar Effect Star - Suns of Thunder Hang on To Yourself – Possessor Ziggy Stardust - Redshift Suffragette City - Raging Speedhorn Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide - Kong Social Ashes to Ashes (Bonus Track) - Bitter Kisses The Jean Genie (Bonus Track) - Sergeant Thunderhoof Sweet Thing (Bonus Track) - Tony Reed

A four track insight into the minds of Tash and Brian, whose mix of emotive vocals and guitar strumming action in opener "Hope and Pray", perfectly demonstrates a real affinity between them.
