"For me, this song feels so personal but when Soph, Celia and Fern stepped in, it turned into something bigger, and it feels like friendship and promise we have loved every minute of being back together and doing what we do "With this song I get to spend three and a half minutes in that place, and that time, and I'm so glad I have it and I'm so glad I get to share it with people." Like so many records landing in store and on streaming services right now, Here Is Everything was conceived during the weight and worry of lockdown in a pandemic. Worlds were turned upside down and inside out. Lives became seismically different, whilst every day a carbon copy of the last So, whilst Covid pulled the duvet tightly up over our heads, it was also the unlikely backdrop to welcoming new life Vocalist Juliette Jackson might have started lockdown teaching fans how to play guitar on Zoom to help pay the rent (including, to her eternal bemusement, one Courtney Love), but she ended it as mother to a super little human being. Here is Everything documents the arrival of that baby in real time, and the simultaneous arrival of a new mother, full of excitement and fear. Meanwhile, the rest of the band doubled down in the studio, taking Jules' embryonic song frameworks and stepping forward as one, revelling in an innate, giddy togetherness and with a clutch of genuinely fantastic tunes The record is introduced with Wide Eyes, a pure, uplifting song of collective jubilance. It sounds like a band in top form having the time of their lives against all the odds. It sounds instantly like The Big Moon whilst sounding unlike any of the music that's gone before it Here Is Everything was mostly self produced, with the expert guidance and expertise of CECIL (Self Esteem, Jehnny Beth, PJ Harvey) and the Grammy Award winning producer Ben Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Deer Hunter, and the producer of Walking Like We Do).

The last time you heard The Big Moon was welcoming the release of their dazzling second album, Walking Like We Do, back in January 2020, when life was very different That was a coming of age record, with bold songs for Saturday nights and sad songs for Sunday mornings. So much has changed and continues to change. And in this world of constant change, we yearn for something familiar. Thankfully, we can continue to rely on the unique, jubilant, unassailable bond that sews this brilliant London band together Another such constant is their collective ear for melody and knack for writing smart, sharp, and infectious alt pop knockouts.

Jules Jackson on Wide Eyes: "I was desperate to write a really big, happy song. My soul was overflowing with the joy of something but I was too physically and mentally exhausted to actually string words together and define it and make music with it In late 2021, I met Jessica Winter who came into my life like an angel and helped me turn those jumbled feelings into a song and I think it's just a mad snapshot of a time when life just felt huge and holy and raw and incredible. I was nursing a five month old baby, I was barely sleeping, I was losing my hair, I was pumping and sweating and crying and lonely and only just about coping, but amongst all that, I felt a burning love and a new kind of happiness I guess the world felt innocent again. For a while anyway.

This month, The Big Moon play Finsbury Park (in support of George Ezra), Truck Festival and Y Not Festival, before embarking on a headline tour of the UK in advance of the new album's release. The 8 date tour concludes at The Forum in London on 28th September 2022

Brimming with charisma and satire fuelled anthems, the DIY Magazine Class of 2022 star’s remarkable potential is reinforced by the groundswell of support across the press landscape (The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, DIY, Billboard, Consequence of Sound, NYLON, Clash, Gigwise, Kerrang, Rock Sound, Upset) over the last few years, as well as significant praise across the BBC Radio 1 (Clara Amfo, Jack Saunders, Gemma Bradley) and BBC 6 Music (Chris Hawkins) airwaves, as she tackles the next phase in her thrilling development. Fresh from nationwide dates supporting chart toppers The Snuts and Stand Atlantic, as well as a sold out 2021 UK headline tour, the enigmatic musician’s raucous live show has already seen her earn impressive support tours with Hippo Campus and The Regrettes in recent times. Having landed several prominent slots throughout the summer festival season (sharing stages with the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, Everything Everything and Sundara Karma), Hibberd will also be hitting the road this autumn to coincide with the release of her debut album.

Isle Of Wight power pop specialist Lauran Hibberd releases debut album ‘Garageband Superstar’, out August 19th via Virgin Music. “‘Garageband Superstar’ is dad rock for your daughters”, Hibberd reveals. “If you don't get the feeling of relief similar to the one of undoing your jeans button after a big meal, I'd feel crushed. It's a nod to all of my favourite 90's sub genres, and the soundtrack to your next favourite trash TV show that no one else gets but you. There's tracks about breaking your leg, falling off rollercoasters, taking off your pants, competing with Red Dead Redemption, boys in the supermarket, writing essays on Facebook walls, people who take leg days seriously, and the enigma of being a superstar. All pretty relatable stuff right? Beyond staining my pants excited to have Brendan B. Brown of Wheatus, DJ Lethal of Limp Bizkit and Viji featuring on this record. Music is more fun with friends. Hope you like it. Don't tell me if you don't. I'm insecure”. Comprising of countless adrenaline fueled, rip roaring hits, including scintillating lead cut ‘Still Running’ (feat. DJ Lethal), infectious follow up ‘Step Mum’ and fizzing recent effort ‘Step Mum’, ‘Garageband Superstar’ (LP) sees the indie sensation partner up with esteemed producer Larry Hibbitt (Nothing but Thieves, Don Broco, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Sea Girls) to sublime effect, as her spectacular ascent towards the upper echelons of the indie landscape gathers further pace.

The lyrics in History, a lot of people can relate to. Its all about everybody has got that one person in their life that they’ve got so much history with, it might be their first love or an ex relationship, and somehow in life you seem to keep coming back to them. And I love the message in the song and you know, Beckys delivered the vocal, amazing of course. The best vocalist, I’m so honoured to be working with her and I just hope everyone loves it.

And in terms of those lyrics, Joel, with you and Becky is this from personal experience?

I think everyone’s had this experience. I think the majority of people of got that, as I said it might be your first love it might be someone that you are just very much in love with. It could even be related to a friend; it doesn’t have to be a relationship. But its all about someone that you’ve got that really deep connection with that knows you better than anyone else, inside out. And as I said throughout life you always kind of end up coming back to them at some point and there’s always that special connection that you’ve got so much history with somebody.

Tell me about the vibe behind it, what’s the message behind your new single?

So, we have Joel Corry here at LooseFest 22. Joel, you have a new single out, could you tell us a little bit about it please for Music News Monthly? Yeah, this record I feel like it’s the collab that everyone wanted to happen, me and Becky (Hill) together. We met in the studio at the end of last year and clicked instantly, like great chemistry and History was the idea we came up with and it stuck. And I’ve been working away at it for the last six months, working hard on it with Becky to get it perfect. I’ve been playing it at all my DJ sets, teasing it loads. I’m excited for everybody to final hear the final version

Joel Corry and Becky Hill have just released their new single "History". During his recent visit to LooseFest 22 in Newcastle, he gave a few words on the new record. The new song is out right now where ever you stream your music.

The inaugural LooseFest drew in thousands of music fans eager to hear sets by renowned DJs like Roger Sanchez, Spiller, and Patrick Topping, alongside the likes of rising stars Shane Codd, Ollie Holmes, and many more. There were a few technical issues, which saw a delay to the festival start time, but with some reshuffling of the schedule and with the technical issues resolved, LooseFest 22 opened to a capacity crowd. After the large queue of fans made it into the event, they were able to enjoy the numerous fairground rides and street food vendors, as well as a tipple or two. Toilets seemed in good supply and there didn't seem to be any shortage in demand thanks to the plentiful number of drink vendors dotted around. Once underway, LooseFest certainly lived up to expectations in terms of the billed artists. Each tent was full throughout the day, with everyone appearing to be having an amazing time. studded line up the crowd at LooseFest 22

On any given weekend, a stroll along Newcastle's Historic Town Moor will greet you with rolling hills, green grass, and the occasional cow. The last weekend in July, however, was a very different affair. With over 90 international and local artists spread across four stages and two days, LooseFest 22 hit the toon. With plenty of 'insta ready' installations, a VIP area with posh loos as well as the stunning location of the historic Newcastle Town Moor, Newcastle was in for a treat.

The main stage drew in the biggest crowds with huge stars like AJ Tracey and Mabel headlining on Sunday, following on from the opening day, which saw the crowd entertained by Clean Bandit, Young T, Bugsey and Example, who kept the atmosphere going with a superb performance despite a bit of a downpour throughout his set. Of course, the festival's headliners, BlackEyed Peas, were the centre of attention on Saturday. The legendary band didn't disappoint with Aple.de.ap, Taboo, and Will.I.Am hit the stage to get the party started a little before 10pm. They were joined by J.Rey Soul, who put in an amazing performance.

Initial technical issues, queues and a bit of rain aside, the event felt like a success. Bringing established an rising stars to a new audience. The North East needs more music events and this is a positive step in helping to make the North East and Newcastle a music powerhouse. All being well LooseFest could establish itself as a permanent feature on the festival circuit.

BlackeEyed Peas played their hits to an eager audience. Kicking off with "Let's Get It Started" and straight into "Boom, Boom, Pow", it was clear that they meant business. The Black Eyed Peas put on a stunning show in Newcastle, the only UK date on their current tour. Will.I.Am paused their performance momentarily during "Girl Like Me" to allow medical staff to attend to a fan in the crowd. The singer thanked fans for clearing the way to let the staff reach the fan and thanked the first responders, saying "thank you guys so much, that's the love."

INTRODUCING

Lucia Fodde “Traces of you”

The first track on the album is the famous song 'Yesterdays', written by one of the artist's favourite composers, Jerome Kern, and taken from the 1933 musical 'Roberta'. Then ‘That old feeling’ by Sammy Fain, lyrics by Lew Brown from 1937; ‘Day by day’ from 1945 by Axel Stordahl and Paul Weston, with text by Sammy Cahn By Chico Buarque, the poignant ‘Atrás da Porta’; and finally, ‘Never will I marry’ by Frank Loesser. All the standards were arranged by Carmelo Leotta. The cover for the album ‘Traces of you’ was also made with artwork by the artist herself, who also dabbles in painting. A great demonstration of technique and singing virtuosity in this album, which are the hallmarks of an incredible jazz musician like Lucia Fodde herself, who with an ease typical of the musicians of the highest school, manages to range from Italian to English to Portuguese, with compositions that mix beautiful jazz and traditional Brazilian standards, giving us incredible emotions in music. Available in all major digital stores 'Traces of you', the new album by jazz musician Lucia Fodde, recorded with Italian musicians Davide Incorvaia (piano) and Carmelo Leotta (bass) and American Jesus Vega (drums) The album was recorded in February 2022 at the UFO Sound Studios in Berlin, mixing by Carmelo Leotta, mastering by Davide Incorvaia. The album contains 10 tracks, five of which are original compositions by Lucia Fodde, who wrote and edited the music and lyrics, and 5 are rearrangements of famous jazz and Brazilian repertoire. The original tracks are: ‘No one knows me but you’, ‘I don't know how to say goodbye’, (arranged by Carmelo Leotta), ‘Maybe’ (arranged by Davide Incorvaia), ‘Wild land’, a portrait of her homeland, and the single ‘Dentro Questo Vento’, launch track of the album on air since 24 June; the latter arranged by Fodde herself.

With touching lyrics the songwriters Maximilian Wörter and Hannah Albrecht create a mosaic of atmospheres and emotions on stage Taking their years of performing live together, the young duo decided to start releasing their music in 2022 They write and produce their music themselves, constantly in search of new ways to hone and improve their crafts through this, Maximilian's classical background and Hannah's production knowledge merge into a unique blend that touches the contemporary Zeitgeist. Their 2022 debut single 'In My Place' explores a relationship that used to be solid but is now slowly falling out of place the necessary freedom to develop is lacking, creating a difficult environment to navigate for all parties involved.

Produced by Daniel Jeffery and mixed by Jim Pinder at UK's renowned Treehouse Studios (Bullet For My Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon etc) - 'Dearly Departed' is one of the band's stand alone single releases for fans whilst work is underway with their as-yet-untitled and entirely crowd- funded album expected in 2013.

Shadow Smile is Connor McGovern (Vocals), Adam Smith (Guitar), Ethan Goebel Todd (Bass) and Joe Fletcher (Drums)

Britain's fiercely independent Alternative Metal outfit Shadow Smile announce the release of their epic new single 'Dearly Departed'. A deeply heartfelt and emotionally charged track exploring the grief and loss of losing a close loved one. Encompassing a fusion of classic metal and modern electronica - the Sheffield (UK) outfit continue to strive forward, pushing musical boundaries with their original-yettimeless sound. A fast rising and exciting new rock act whose sonic concoctions will equally resonate with fans of contemporary metal-core acts like Bring Me The Horizon, While She Sleeps etc and stadium metal heavyweights such as Ghost and Avenged Sevenfold.

Recognised for their dark theatrical visuals, aggressive yet melodic music and anthemic vocal hook lines, Shadow Smile are the latest hot contenders to potentially follow in the footsteps of many successful bands that have emerged from Sheffield's ever thriving music scene. Since forming in 2019, the South Yorkshire quartet have tirelessly built a fanatical cultfollowing - despite the limitations of the Covid pandemic lockdowns. With previous selfreleased singles already having been championed by taste makers such as BBC Introducing, Kerrang! Radio, Hard Rock Hell and many more, Shadow Smile now look to the future armed with a bigger refined sound and relentless ambition to firmly establish themselves on the UK rock scene. Their soaring emotive vocals, arena destined choruses, explosive metal edged guitar riffs and ability to effectively blend modern metal with classic hard rock overtones will inevitably help them to stand out from the crowd.

UK THIS OCTOBER THIRD ALBUM ‘HAPPY’ – PHYSICAL RELEASE COMING 30TH SEPTEMBER 2022

The time has come for We Three to make a major, global breakthrough. We Three’s new album ‘HAPPY’’ is the moment that can make that happen. Released on CD in the UK on Friday 30th September 2022

OCTOBER 9th Glasgow, King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut (SOLD OUT) 10th Manchester, Academy 3 11th London, Heaven 13th Paris, Café de la Danse 15th - Amsterdam, Melkweg 16th Hamburg, Nochtspeicher 17th - Berlin, Frannz Club 18th Munich, Strom 20th Cologne, Luxor 22nd Dublin, Academy Green Room TOUR THE

This rapport is two way: fans are touched by We Three’s words, and the band are overwhelmed by the related stories that fans share with them. It was particularly felt in the song ‘Sara’, a song that pulled no punches in revealing the brutal realities of suicide. It raised awareness and funds for two related charities: To Write Love On Her Arms and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

starters Bethany adds, “We really strive to be original and organic in our approach. We don’t go outside of the band to create our stories, everything we do is done by us, and this way we have a very direct and honest rapport with our fanbase.”

The band’s unorthodox background undoubtedly shapes their creative output, and they’re ready to deliver an album that is a product of the unexpected difficulties that the pandemic brought about. “The last two years have been a trial for all of us, and where we find ourselves now truly makes us very grateful and very happy." Manny Humlie With current streams in excess of 168 million, the band’s social media following is growing at a huge rate Their TikTok account now has 1.1 million followers and is their primary tool for communicating with their fans

The physical release comes ahead of a European tour in October which includes a major London show at Heaven, and an alreadysold out Glasgow show, with the other dates on course to sell out as well.

Remaining tickets for the band’s autumn European tour, dates listed below, are available HERE.

Completed by Manny’s siblings Bethany Blanchard (bass) and Joshua Humlie (keys/drums), the title of the new album reflects their current state of mind. Its fourteen songs were all written and produced by Manny. His lyrics explore the twists and turns of relationships, but those hefty themes are at turns infused with humour and self deprecation. While its moods span the spectrum from melancholy to upbeat, its scope is complemented by the band’s trademark versatility as they stretch from soaring emotional ballads to striking pop party

The time has come for We Three to make a major breakthrough in the UK as they look set to take their Stateside success global Fuelled by colossal melodies, powerful emotions and exemplary musicianship, the trio are well on their way to breaking the 200 million streams landmark and have exceeded 2.2 million followers on social media. Their audience spans different generations, as shown by their biggest social platforms being TikTok and Facebook. “Happy”, their 3rd album, is a product of frontman, songwriter and producer Manny Humlie’s urge to write intensely personal lyrics from the heart - a trait which has consistently connected with a fanbase that’s always expanding There are no gimmicks: just timeless songwriting, open hearted honesty and razor sharp alt pop production It possesses an instant appeal, which was proven by a sold out crowd singing the song back to them just a day after they posted a teaser for the track

The three siblings have shared an extraordinary journey They were raised in a religious family, which separated them from the ordinary experiences that most teenagers go through Manny was nudged into an early marriage when others were having their first dates, leading, unsurprisingly, to an equally early divorce. The death of their mother opened up a wider world of both personal and musical experiences, but also the punch of grieving and loss. It was a time that We Three documented in their first breakthrough moment ‘Heaven’s Not Too Far.’

Essex based rock four piece Palps are pleased to announce the release of their debut album 'Black Heart' on October 7th 2022. Since their formation in 2018, this is the group's most ambitious work to date. The follow up to the band's 2020 debut EP 'Letters To You (That I'll Never Send)', Black Heart sees Palps turn their eight-track album into a harrowing eight-chapter short story which highlights the daily struggles of someone navigating their poor mental health and how it affects not only them but those around them. Across each of the tracks' music videos, we are introduced to four characters, the story's protagonist Matt, plus Rose, Charlotte and the Plague Doctor. The story deepens and grows with each single release, with the room, at times tidy and decorated and at others cluttered or destroyed representing Matt's mental state, whilst the Plague Doctor character represents his suicidal thoughts. Produced, mixed and mastered with Jack Twiner at Pyramid Studios in Reading, every track on the album unravels and pieces itself back together song by song, yet somehow manages to end up someplace uglier and more uncertain than the track before.

Prior to the album's release comes its latest single 'In My Head', the fifth chapter of the album's story, released today (July 1st). Speaking about the single, vocalist and lyricist Alex Gray says, "In My Head is all about my personal struggles with health anxiety. I basically lost close to 5 years of my life to health anxiety, starting in 2017 when I became convinced I had some sort of heart condition that had somehow gone undiagnosed. In my more lucid moments, I would tell myself that if I had a serious health condition that had gone undiagnosed for years, I would have been long dead by now, but the constant palpitations and strange burning sensation in my chest would always return and I would be right back to where I started. This is also where the name Palps came from." In this chapter of the album's short film, Matt is seen to be making an effort to take up healthy practices in order to get his life back on track. He's seen applying for jobs, starting up running and, towards the end of the chapter, starting his first day at work. The Plague Doctor is then shown again, symbolising that his dark thoughts and demons never stay away for long. HEART'

British primed Indie-Pop? Deep in the Bavarian Forest? So clear, urgent, consistent and in love with the melody that you immediately want to hear it over and over again? But yes! Atomic around the brothers Thomas and Rainer Marschel took their time for their fourth album And it was worth it. Where the first single „Gimme Your Love" from the new album was the perfect feedback that Atomic should definitely be on the screen again this year, the second presingle „Cry Like A Wolf" shows all their passion for big melodies, paired with a dense, sprawling production that references early Talk Talk, late New Order and mid-range Oasis. The guitars wandered through the Johnny Marr school, the arrangement is remarkably timeless and only takes the best of everything.

ATOMIC

Atomic are the perfect proof that bands develop their own significant style when they don't belong to any scene or urban network. Because Atomic just do THEIR thing. They were supported in the pre production process by Ride singer Mark Gardener, among others, which is already a small accolade. The band took care of the rest completely autonomously together with the mixer Thies Neu at Tonbrauerei in Berlin. One can look forward to the entire album as it should appeal to any Indie and Brit Pop lover between the ages of 15 and 55 precisely because Atomic's music has this timeless power that is all about the song and its best possible presentation , instead of trends, styles and state of the art drivel. Welcome back to the stages and to our ears, Atomic! „Cry Like A Wolf" is the second pre single from the new Atomic album.

Following a hiatus since the departure of Tompkins in 2009, founding members Owen Hughes Holland and Adam Mason set out to resurrect the band. With a new lease of life and a fresh line-up, First Signs of Frost moulded their sound into a more groove and ambient direction, manifesting itself in the aptly titled 2017 EP The Shape of Things to Come, via Basick Records. With their well received EP in tow, the band took to the studio in late 2019 to work on their second full-length album, Anthropocene, this time with help of exciting new frontman Ronan Villiers. Now, with the forthcoming single ‘Loss’ in tow, the highly anticipated album following in September will be released through Alaskan Records. 2022 will be yet another landmark year for the progressive post hardcore pioneers.

Forming in 2004 with a line-up consisting of longtime friends Owen Hughes-Holland (vocals/guitar), Adam Mason (guitar), Will Gates (drums) and Dan Oehlman (bass), the band released their consequential debut EP In Our Final Chapter the following year.

TACKLE NARCISSISM WITH NEW SINGLE AND MUSIC VIDEO FOR 'RELICS' NEW MUSIC FIRST SIGNS OF FROST

London based progressive post hardcore band First Signs of Frost have released a music video for their brand new single 'Relics'. The track, with lyrical content tackling the topic of narcissism, is taken from the band's upcoming album Anthropocene, due for release in September 2022. On the new single, guitarist Owen HughesHolland comments: "The theme for ‘Relics’ is one that approaches the subject of those who live in their own narcissistic bubble, generally looking down on others, and taking life, and even the earth itself for granted. The song outlines how we should be grateful to exist on this planet, and to bare in mind the vastness of the universe to put our own lives in perspective. I feel as though most people will have no doubt encountered someone like this in their life at some point, and can therefore take some sort of comfort and solace in the lyrics."

In 2007 First Signs of Frost signed their first record deal with Japanese label Zestone Records, and after a successful UK tour supporting metal core legends Exit Ten, they recruited Daniel Tompkins as their main vocalist. The band then began writing their debut album Atlantic, all whilst securing subsequent tours and major support slots with acts such as Deaf Havana, Enter Shikari, Architects, You Me At Six, and more.

NIGHT SWIMMING RELEASE EVOCATIVE DEBUT DOUBLE SINGLE FREIGHT TRAIN // A WALL NEW MUSIC www.nightswimmingband.co.uk

Bath-based dream pop five-piece Night Swimming released their debut double single ‘Freight Train // A Wall’ on August 12th. Formed in 2021, the band have spent the last year honing in on their sound at sold out headline shows in their home city of Bath and supporting the likes of China Bears and Parlophone Records’ own Sad Night Dynamite. They were also scouted by the Close Encounters Club to be featured in Glastonbury Festival’s 2022 ‘Longlist’ - chosen to be one of their 90 top acts. Night Swimming’s sound incorporates the ethereal, melodic elements of the early Wolf Alice EPs and Slowdive albums; combining them with the minimalism of local idols Portishead and Massive Attack. Produced by Calum Wotherspoon at Joe’s Garage in Bristol, and mastered by Novatines’ Tom Cory, their debut release Freight Train // A Wall is instantly striking. Combining atmospheric guitars, ethereal vocals and airy synths with echoing percussion and hypnotic choruses; each individual element is equally as evocative, while perfectly blended with a sugary sweet delivery that you can’t help but get lost in. Freight Train was written as an introductory piece to the second track ‘A Wall’. The use of trip-hop influenced rhythms and sustained atmospherics evoke a trance like feel, conveying a strong sense of detachment that seamlessly seeps into second track A Wall which vocalist and lyricist Meg Jones describes as ‘a collection of memories and images about communication in relationships’.

The ‘A-Pop’ prince Bahjat unveils his second single of the year in “Aladdin” – released independently via The Orchard from his forthcoming EP entitled A-POP. Feeling bouncier and chirpier in production when compared to the darker, grittier trap pop of May’s lead single “I’M HERE” which has since racked up 680K+ views for the music video “Aladdin” offers another intoxicating example of Bahjat’s signature blend of Western and Arabic influences, while his lyrical storytelling feels as sharp and insightful as ever. Bahjat made the following statement about “Aladdin”: “As an Arab, I always look for symbols that have had a global impact but are still of Arabic origins, to draw parallels and inspiration from. When I thought a bit more about Aladdin’s story, and the way it’s virtually the only Arab story to go mainstream, I found it to be interesting how it’s still a story of a big trouble maker. Is that the first impression kids make about us Arabs? As I pondered over this, I decided to take that narrative and focus on the ambitious aspect of Aladdin’s story and compared my own experiences to his story; it’s wanting something that everyone says is unattainable and yet, that’s exactly what makes you work ten times harder to achieve it."

Born and raised in Tripoli (the capital of Libya), Bahjat and his family were forced to flee to Malta during the beginning of the Arab Spring in 2011 an event that changed the course of the young artist's life forever. Proud to embrace his Arabic roots, Bahjat continues to weave his heritage into his artistry where possible, such as 2021’s “El Radio”, and has worked with some of the region’s biggest and best producers, including the award winning Hassan El Shafei for their hit “Galbek Ween”. new single “ALADDIN”

NEW MUSIC

Whiskey Myers spent 21 days locked away creating a solid track album steeped in the sound of the Deep South. Taking traditional Country and mixing it up with a modern, unique flavour. The album is full of soul and has a groove that is hard to find anywhere else In fact, I was trying to fathom what the album reminded me of, then it hit me straight in between the ears, Dimebag Darrell, the legendary Texan who took the Metal genre to a whole New Level with Pantera. His collection of solo tracks, in particular "Whiskey Road" mixed with a hint of The Cadillac Three vibe thrown in for good measure. The album starts with a stunning instrumental which could easily have been a title track for a spaghetti western or even a Tarantino movie. The album is a gift that just keeps on giving, with the band making use of a brass section, which at times is reminiscent of 90’s British rockers Little Angel’s horn section, The Big Bad Horns Possibly not a reference that everyone will get, but go check them out.

Whiskey Myers are great story tellers and they put that skill to good use with "Tornillo." From "Feet's", with its stunning guitar work backed up with that glorious horn section, to "For The Kids", with its powerful lyrics matched perfectly with a rousing chorus, whilst tugging at the heartstrings and shining a retrospective light on broken relationships. With so much crammed into the production, including the use of gospel quartet The McCrary Sisters, Whiskey Myers have created their most accomplished album to date. It definitely feels like they have stepped up their game since their 2019 album, "Mud," which is an achievement in itself considering it reached the No.1 spot on the US Country and Americana/Folk sales charts.

Rating:

Taking Country and Rock and blending it with a splash of Big Band, add a garnish of a Gospel quartet and you have the musical cocktail that is "Tornillo", the brand new album from Whiskey Myers. Recorded at the Sonic Ranch Studio, a 2300 acre, isolated studio in the town of Texan town of Tornillo, right on the US/Mexico border.

Review by David Weddle WHISKEY MYERS "TORNILLO"

As a whole body of work, "Tornillo" is exceptional and not only breathes new life into Country but drags the genre kicking and screaming into the 21st century Released on the band’s own label, Wiggy Thump Records, and distributed by Thirty Tigers, "Tornillo" is out now.

Midlands based alt rockers Chasing August are back with their brand new single "Lift Off". Taken from their 2020 demo archives and transformed into a stand alone track. Starting off gently with a spacey vibe, the track builds towards a crescendo of guitars and vocal harmonies that grabs your attention and gets the toes a tapping. backed by hard hitting drums and awesome bass work, making for a well rounded, sing a long chorus. "Lift Off" has that anthemic vibe which will work fantastically when played live, and the chorus is catchy and memorable enough that any audience would easily find themselves singing along. Another triumph by Chasing August and definitely one to listen out for when it is released on the 26th of August.

“Arbitrary” is the latest album by Danish rockers Gods and Forest. Like a breath of fresh air, the album does away with convention as the band gives it their all. At 9 tracks and a little over 30 minutes long, “Arbitrary” might not be the longest album you will ever hear, but that is one of its many charms.

Gods and Forest wrote, recorded, mixed and produced the album themselves, and this is what helps to set them apart from other similar artists. It is awesome to hear a record that hasn’t been over produced and still has that authentic late 90’s early 00's grungy, punk rock sound and raw energy to it. There is a lot to take in in such a short amount of time. The band self-categorise themselves as “Synergetic Alternative Rock”, and that is a fair assessment of their style. However, they do lean more on the heavier side of the alt-rock genre. The album was a pleasure to listen to and transported me back to the early 2000s for a while. Definitely a band to watch out for.

With a debut album as good as this, you are bound to hear a lot more from Lauran in the future. If you are lucky enough, you might even get to one of Lauran’s upcoming live shows as she hits the road to promote the album this September.

While there is a fun, humourous side to the album, make no mistake, it is a serious contender in the musical landscape, featuring the likes of Brendan B. Brown of Wheatus on "Garageband Superstar", to Viji and DJ Lethal, who also feature on the album. Lauran also makes good use of producer Larry Hibbert, who has previously worked with big name acts like Don Broco, Dinosaur Pile Up and SeaGirls. The whole album just works. From start to finish, it is engaging and keeps its awesome grungy flow throughout It isn’t an easy job to pick one standout track as there isn’t a filler on the album "Still Running" and "I’m Insecure" are both contenders, but at a push, opening track "Rollercoaster", takes the top spot.

"Garageband Superstar"

LAURAN HIBBERD

Lauran Hibberd releases her highly anticipated debut album, "Garageband Superstar" on August 19th via Virgin Music. The album is a nod to Lauran’s favourite 90’s sub genres, the singer describes the album as "Dad Rock for Your Daughters", and upon first listen, the album certainly has that 90’s indie, grunge rock feel to it, albeit with a modern pop twist. With tracks like "Still Running ( feat. Limp Bizkit’s DJ Lethal)" and opener "Rollercoaster", it is easy to see why Lauran’s musical career has taken off in spectacular style, garnering praise from the likes of The Guardian, NME, The Times, and also BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6 Music Including DJ’s Clara Amfo, Jack Saunders, Gemma Bradley and Chris Hawkins.
