Keys On A Piano Take a look at the picture below. You can probably see how the black and white keys are arranged in orderly fashion. They're not just randomly thrown there. Keys on a piano are organized in a specific 12-note pattern that repeats itself over and over. Let's take a look:
A standard piano has 88 keys: 52 white and 36 black. The white keys are called naturals, the black keys are either sharps or flats. If you look closely, you'll see that they are arranged in patterns. The black keys are grouped together in groups of two and three. One group of 2 black keys, one group of 3 black keys and 7 white keys beneath them form a 12note pattern. This pattern of notes then repeats itself many times.
You can now probably find all C notes on the piano. Here is a hint: any white key located before the group of 2 black keys is a C. Here is one called the middle C:
