This piece is about one's journey towards finding meaning. Towards finding the hiddenworldsbehindsimplewords.There'sasenseofhopeandwonderinthemusic throughout,which,intheauthor'scase,parallelhisjourneyovercominganillnessin late2023.

Thiscompositionisalsoamusicalexerciseinthightmotivicwriting,wherealmost all the themes are built on the same 3-note melodic cell presented at the start. The centralclimaxdividesthepieceintotwohalvesatroughlythegoldensectionof1.618:1.

A Morning was composed for the 2024 edition of the Premiere Project Festival organizedbyDr.BrandonElliott.ItwaspremieredonJune28th2024attheZhang OrchestralHallinIrvine(California),withtheChoralArtsInitiativeChoirconductedby AliSandweissHodges.

ABOUTTHECOMPOSER

Albert de la Fuente is a composer and mechanical engineer based in Barcelona (Catalonia,Spain).Hegrewupinasmalltowninafamilywithnomusicaltradition, and is completely self-taught in composition. He considers that this last fact can be sometimes an advantage, since this has freed him from certain European academic dogmas.

He has won several composition awards and his music has been performed in Europe and the United States. He has been a member of the Association of Catalan Composerssince2022.
