In early 2024, after leaving a prompt on social media asking people for one word to describe our times and one word to describe what they might wish for us in these times, I crafted a choral work primarily from these words. I began with descriptors of our current times followed with the questions "did we make these times?" "can we remake these times" and from here the text transforms in the beautiful words submitted by people regarding what they long for and hope for us to have in these times instead. For mixed chorus and piano, the work was commissioned in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the New Century Chorale in Michigan and is accessible for community choirs, high school choirs, and college/university singers.
