APRIL 2010 FATSHION RECAP GET READY TO BE INSPIRED...
ALEXIS BIG MAMA STYLE HTTP://BIGMAMASTYLE.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 34 size: 20 from: Minneapolis, MN
FASHION PHILOSPHY Being a mom and a student means I need to be comfortable and thrifty, but I don’t want that to define what I wear. I gravitate toward classic styles, but like to play with proportion and color. You will never see me in a outfit that doesn’t have at least one thrifted item!
ALISSA STYLISH CURVES HTTP://STYLISHCURVES.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 28 size: 16/18 from: BROOKLYN, NY
FASHION PHILOSPHY Be confident in your personal style no matter the nay sayers. I embrace every inch of my body, cellulite and all. There is no perfect body in this world so why beat myself up about how imperfect I think my body is. I love wearing classic pieces like trench coats and tailored dresses with bold earrings and sky high heels. I love to step outside my comfort zone with fashion by wearing a crazy print. I believe whenever possible, try on everything in the store, you never know what might fit. Screw the number on the tag.
ALLISON CURVY GIRL CHIC HTTP://CURVYGIRLCHIC.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 22 size: 16/18/20 from: BOSTON, MA
FASHION PHILOSPHY Don’t be afraid to try different styles and play around with crazy trends. While having a signature look is great, fashion is meant to be fun! Play around with ideas and looks and get creative--you can always put your own twist on an outfit to make it more you! Also, when in doubt, go with black. Black will always be the new black!
ALLISON FASHION, LOVE & MARTINIS
HTTP://FASHIONLOVEANDMARTINIS.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 24 size: 22/24 from: CALIFORNIA
FASHION PHILOSPHY I don’t let my weight or size dictate my personal style. Fellow fatshionistas should do the same. If anything, let your weight and size enhance your style. Tell the world, “Yes, I am fat, but I can wear stilettos with the best of them!”
ANNA & IDA TALE OF TWO SISTERS http://ataleoftwosisters.tumblr.com/ ageS: 18 & 21 from: DENMARK
FASHION PHILOSPHY Don’t think we have a fashion philosophy, but it is extremely important that you feel good in what you wear. Don’t let anybody tell you what YOU should wear, because you only end up uncomfortable by the choices you didn’t make yourself. If you wanna wear acid jeans, wear them. If you wanna wear mini skirts, leggins or nude colours, wear them!
ARIEL EXTRA FUN SIZED http://EXTRAFUNSIZED.tumblr.com/ ageS: 25 from: TEXAS
FASHION PHILOSPHY To me, fashion is all about trying on different looks and having fun with it. One day you can be a sexy super spy, the next - a dainty and demure lady and the following week, you can be (a stylish, please) tribute to your favorite fictional character. The important thing to remember is that no matter how much you change your look on the outside, always remain true to yourself on the inside.
BETHAN PRETTY IN PLUS HTTP://PRETTY-IN-PLUS.COM
age: 24 size: 20/22 from: Aberystwyth, Wales
FASHION PHILOSPHY If you’re happy with your body, you really can make anything work. Nothing you’ve ever been told is “slimming” or “flattering” will ever look as good on you as an abundance of confidence and a smile.
CIERRA GIBSON CHIC
HTTP://GIBSONCHIC.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 21 size: 16/18 from: Greensboro, North Carolina
FASHION PHILOSPHY If you don’t feel comfortable with your body, you won’t feel comfortable in your clothing. Wear something that reflects your personality and never hold back on your personal style! I dress for myself and I love playing with different styles and genres. Confidence is key!
DEVON FAT NURSE HTTP://FAT-NURSE.COM
age: 18 size: UK22/24 from: ESSEX, UK
FASHION PHILOSPHY I try and keep it simple and sharp, taking a lot of my inspiration from fellow fat bloggers. F*** the size and if there’s something wrong with it, make it work. I’m not afraid of adding straps here or there, etc.
EMMA OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO HTTP://BOOMBANDS.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 30 from: LONDON, UK
FASHION PHILOSPHY I have great curves and I know how to wear them. That is a key statement for me and it isn’t about wearing what looks the best, but instead wearing what I like the best. It took me a long time to know myself and my style and today I love feminine touches mashed together with biker jackets and scuffed boots. My advice to anyone else would be - Take your time, explore your style, embrace your curves.
FRANCES CORPULENT
HTTP://CORPULENT.WORDPRESS.COM age: 24 from: SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
FASHION PHILOSPHY Remember how Coco Chanel said “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off”? Ignore that. Wear all the colours, all the prints and all the accessories. If you think it’s too much, you’ve probably got it just right.
GABI YOUNG, FAT & FABULOUS HTTP://YOUNGFATANDFABULOUS.COM age: 23 SIZE: 18/20 from: DETROIT, mi
FASHION PHILOSPHY Wear what makes you happy, regardless of what others say. Try on everything, even if it’s not marked your size! And when all else fails, wear a black mini dress and a blazer.
GAZEL BONJOUR, GAZEL! HTTP://BONJOURGAZEL.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 19 from: WINNIPEG, CANADA
FASHION PHILOSPHY Take your inspiration from everywhere. I don’t let my plus size figure stop me from deriving inspiration from our skinny counterparts! Take that inspiration and make it your own! Also, don’t let negative comments bring you down. Hold your head up high!
GEORGINA CUPCAKE CLOTHES HTTP://CUPCAKECLOTHES.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 20 sIZE: UK30 from: HERTS, UK
FASHION PHILOSPHY I don’t really have a “philosophy” per se, but don’t limit yourself! I used to feel I had to dress to fit in, and didn’t let myself like things I secretly did, because I thought I had to fit in with my (tunnel) vision of how I should look. Now I just dress for myself, and I feel a lot more body confident because of it.
JEN BIG SUIT
HTTP://BIGSUITBLOG.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 22 sIZE: 22-28 from: NEW JERSEY
FASHION PHILOSPHY Your personality will not be able to translate to your style if you take yourself too seriously. So loosen up and have fun!
JILL JILLY BEANSTALK HTTP://JILLYBEANSTALK.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 26 from: SCRANTON, PA
FASHION PHILOSPHY Try anything, even if someone tells you not to! What’s the worst that can happen? If it looks bad, put it back on the racks and pick something else. You just might find a gem!
JULES BOOM BOOM POW http://boomboompow-plus.blogspot.com age: 28 from: CHICAGO, IL
FASHION PHILOSPHY Fashion is a walking art form to me. Everyday is a opportunity to be innovative, step outside your box, and transform into who you feel like being that day. I strongly believe in showcasing your STYLE not your SIZE. So take risks with your clothes and if you love something find the best way to wear it for you- And remember your are not a label, a size, or a price tag.
LETI LE BLOG DE LETILOR http://LETILOR.blogspot.com age: 24 SIZE: 14/16 from: BELGIUM
FASHION PHILOSPHY I think that above all, we must feel good in what we wore and have self-confidence. Its not important to be trendy, the most important thing is to love what we wear and find our own sense of style. I like color so I don’t hesitate to wear them in all circumstances. I think it represents my character well. I know what I can wear, I know what looks good on me and I have my own style. Having self confidence and being yourself in clothes is most important to me.
MARIE THE CURVY FASHIONISTA http://thecurvyfashionista.mariedenee.com age: 28 SIZE: 16/18 from: OAKLAND, CA
FASHION PHILOSPHY My style reflects my moods‌ but in a nutshell, I am boho luxe. I do not like to fuss! Fashion to me is an extension and expression of yourself. Through the rules out the door, and always keep it Curvy. Confident.Chic.
MATRON-JO EMBRACE YOUR CURVES http://embraceyourcurves.blogspot.com age: 26 from: WALES, UK
FASHION PHILOSPHY My motto is simple . EMBRACE YOUR CURVES . God blessed you with curves so work them! Wear what you feel comfortable in and let no one dictate your personal style. There are no rules in fatshion other than have fun! xx
MELINDA SOUND BITES
HTTP://AMELIAPONTES.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 24 size: 14/16 from: BOSTON, MA
FASHION PHILOSPHY Like most girls, I like to dig into my mother’s closet. She dresses in pearls and 50’s style A-line dresses, and is affectionately nicknamed “Pink Lady.” I prefer to take a pink dress, throw on some black tights and pair it with combat boots and gunmetal jewelry. We’re complete opposites on the style spectrum, but she has given me the best advice when it comes to style: “Dress for where you wish you could be, not where you are going.” The term, “overdressing,” is for those who dare not take risks. If you can’t have fun with fashion, what can you have fun with?
NATALIE DEFINATALIE HTTP://DEFINATALIE.COM
age: 29 from: BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA
FASHION PHILOSPHY Wear what makes you feel fancy, and if that means sticking your middle finger up at “the rules” - WERQ IT.
OBY from: DC AREA
FASHION PHILOSPHY I have come to realize that you can not please everybody when it comes to what you wear and how you wear it. Especially for plus size women, like ourselves. As long as you love your outfit, you look great in your outfit and above all you FEEL great in your outfit, then rise above the skeptics. If you can transform one skeptic into a believer by the way you look and carry yourself, then you’ve done your job.
SARAH THE PALE AND PALLOR PRINCESS HTTP://THEPALEANDPALLORPRINCESS.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 26 size: 18 from: ontario, canada
FASHION PHILOSPHY I believe in having fun with fashion. Fashion is a way to express yourself to the world. I like looking feminine and celebrating my curves. I like lots of colour. I like things that are bold, quirkey and a little bit odd. I would much rather veer towards batshit crazy then veer towards boring.
SARAH RETURN TO SENDER http://tabayag.com
age: 24 size: 20 from: MASSACHUSETTS
FASHION PHILOSPHY I always believe that fashion should have a bit of humor involved. I never take myself too seriously and therefore don’t take my fashion too seriously either. Adding a dose of humor means that I experiment to the extreme - wear things that no one else would wear and wear them with confidence. I embrace my body and any ugly dresses I find along the way.
STEPHANIE BIG BEAUTY
http://LEBLOGDEBIGBIGBEAUTY.com age: 33 from: PARIS, FRANCE
FASHION PHILOSPHY Style is not a style but an attitude.
STEPHANIE BUTTONS, BOW & BROGUES
http://BUTTONSBOWSANDBROGUES.BLOGSPOT.COM age: 19 from: ENGLAND
FASHION PHILOSPHY Dress to impress yourself and whatever you wear, wear it with confidence.
STILETTO SIREN LIPS, HIPS AND FATSHION TIPS http://MYLIPSTICKONHERCOLLAR.com age: 24 SIZE: 20/22 from: BOISE, IDAHO
FASHION PHILOSPHY Life is too short to not live up to your fashion potential! My personal style is uniquely me and a bit rocker chic with some classic details. My advice is to always give trends your own spin because being well dressed in a look that enhances your personal style is the best way to live a happy life in the body you were given. Never say no to prints, bold colors, classic pieces or anything that scares you. Your potential favorite outfit could be just one fitting room away!
TI EIGHT TWO NINE http://eighttwonine.blogspot.com age: 21 size: 16-20 from: ATLANTA, GA
FASHION PHILOSPHY For me comfort is key, looks is all great but if you are not comfortable what’s the point?? Basics help a lot excessorize. People like to ask oh where did you get that?? You fit their stuff?? Don’t look at what I do, my height saves me. In the words of my sister, I am fun size.
TIFFANY FAT SHOPAHOLIC http://FATSHOPAHOLIC.com
age: 19 size: 24 from: CHICAGO, IL
FASHION PHILOSPHY Embrace prints and color. Be Bright, be bold, and be you. It’s hard wearing bright colors and bold prints (especially on public transit when you can’t hide behind the shelter of a car) but, no one wants to look back when they’re older and wish they had lived their life to the fullest. Fashion is about experimentation and there is nothing wrong with that. If people make rude comments, ignore them. Your clothes are an expression of who you are so, never let anybody make you feel bad about who you are.
VALERIE BLOG TO BE ALIVE http://BLOGTOBEALIVE.com age: 30 from: belgium
FASHION PHILOSPHY I think getting dressed should be a fun experience and not something that will lead to a headache! Have fun with your clothes and wear whatever makes YOU feel great!
vanoue LES PITRERIES DE VANOUE http://lespitreriesdevanoue.blogspot.com age: 26 from: paris, france
FASHION PHILOSPHY Always wear what you want even if other disagree. Getting dressed is such a funny game, so what about just playing with colours, seasons, fabrics and treat yourself like the most beautiful woman on Earth? This is how I live with my clothes and we are very happy together.
YOLANDA DIVA IN DEEP THOUGHT http://divaindeepthought.blogspot.com age: 33 size: 16/18 from: GLEN BURNIE, MD
FASHION PHILOSPHY I generally feel you should be happy in the skin you’re in. You can be sexy at any age or size. Being plus size doesn’t stop my Diva... and everyone has an inner diva just dying to get out.
YVETTE from: BROOKLYN, NY
FASHION PHILOSPHY my style is pretty eclectic. Im from a caribbean background so I incorporate a lot of bright colors and african inspired pieces to my wardrobe. I never considered my size a deterrent from wearing anything, I can wear hot shorts or mini skirts with the best of them! I also love body hugging pieces to show off these dangerous curves lol!!!
XTINA MUSINGS OF A FATSHIONISTA HTTP://MUSINGSOFAFATSHIONISTA.COM age: 24 size: 22/24 from: WASHINGTON, DC
FASHION PHILOSPHY I like pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable in terms of plus size fashion. The fun in fashion is in the experimentation. Every morning, getting dressed is another chance to try out something new and become someone different.
THANKYOU
TO EVERYONE THAT PARTICIPATED!
