ENVISION (Commercial Complex) A place where luxury meets affordability Academic Project I III year I Individual
Site: Amritsar, Punjab, India
Our vision is to design a Commercial Complex, which provides not only affordability but provide the kind of convenient, healthy and secured lifestyle that is missing in the main walled city of Amritsar. In the midst, or rather, on the fringes of the unfolding urban chaos, our aim is to create a safe and a healthy environment for all age groups and create spaces which are carriers of tradition and culture so that people associate with the spaces more. The intend to create an environment where there is a sense of belongingness and hence responsibility towards the space, the township, and the environment.
View of the building from across the street. An uninterrupted walkway has been created to link the commercial complex to the township.
The sunken plaza acts as of informal interaction, c gathering setting up of e and temporary kiosks.
Isometric section of the Focus Area
The core concept of the commercial complex is to increase interaction through connectivity yet maintaining the privacy and hierarchy of the spaces. We intend to provide a safe and a healthy environment for all age groups and create spaces which are carriers of tradition and culture so that people associate with the spaces more. The major goal was incorporating biophilic design into the office via the means of green terraces and balconies to encourage the connection between humans and nature ,as well as promote staff wellness and productivity.

The Public spaces such as retail shops, exhibition halls, etc. are placed on the lower floors where a plaza is formed for activating the pedestrian movement across the site. The Private spaces are located on top most floors to create a non- interfered working environment. They are single entity formal spaces where each unit consists of individual work cabins, director’s office, meeting rooms, etc. The Semi Private spaces act as a bridging element between these two zones. It includes cafes and co-working spaces.

The spaces are divided into three categories to maintain the hierarchy of spaces: PUBLIC, SEMI PUBLIC AND PRIVATE yet all of them are connected visually
The idea of recessed terraces creates strong visual connect between levels a aids in interaction. It creates breako spaces for the office people to spe some leisure time in.
s a and out end
Various double heighted spaces have been created to enhance the user experience and provide a feeling of grandeur especially in the retail zone.
Water bodies create a micro climate in the plaza through evaporative cooling. A wall of mature trees has been placed on the west and south sides of the plaza to shade the plaza and also acts an acoustic barrier from noise on the road.
For reducing the direct solar heat gain, a high performance double glass unit has been used. The wall has U-value 0.4 W/m2.K, and is insulated with a 50 mm layer of rockwool Insulation
Site is situated on a Revenue Rasta besides a heavy traffic highway and along the edge of the school. There is park to the south of the site. As Ve highway, they go through an underpass ,as walkway over it is provided for the entry of pedestrians through the park. A pedestrian entry is provided on southern and western edge of the site for the same. Vehicular entry to the site is given on north-western corner, edge connected to the highway as well as in basement. This is done mainly to avoid vehicular congestion on the revenue Rasta and create a pede the plaza So by this the built mass is shifted away from the noise coming from that side. The prevalent wind direction is South-East towards the sunk

NATARAJ KALA KENDRA ( Performing Arts Centre) Dance And Music As A Tool Of Intercultural Communication Academic Project I IV Semester I Individual
Site: New Delhi, India
The art and culture of a city is its representation, giving it an identity and shaping its image. Delhi being a metropolitan city as well as the capital of India, is one of the fastest developing cities in the world. However urbanization and modernization is bringing down the cultural interests of its inhabitants and the city is losing its cultural value with time. There is a strong need to bring back the connection to art and heritage .Dance and music are one of the most ancient art forms of India, and are the easiest way by which people can connect with each other, hereby defining the programme of this performing arts Centre
The radial form of the building was influenced by the intertwining nature and fluidity of the art forms : music and dance. It has been designed such that anybody and everybody can access all the performance areas.
The form has been such developed that it opens up both to the main road as well as to lake with Purana Qila's fort wall on the back drop. Cafeteria also opens up to the lake so that people can enjoy the view while eating
Rhythmic movements are the basic elemen of music and dance which are achieved through repetition of lines in elevation using steel structures in walkways and rectangular glass panels
nt ed ns d
Library has been raised to first floor creating a void for visual access. Plaza to be utilized for various activities such as weekly exhibitions, art and craft workshops, performances, etc.
Pedestrian walkway is extended and merged into the site in the form of a plaza which connects to Oat to create a direct axis from road to lake to invite more people without hesitation.
According to the SWOT analysis , it is difficult to built a building block here because of its acute triangular shape, therefore Parking has been placed there.

A connection between the Past and the Future Academic Project I II Semester I Individual
Site: Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, India
Singhpura is a small village which is going to be raised down as it is located in a forest reserve between two ferocious flooding rivers. Thus its inhabitants, the tribals are shifted to the nearby town depriving them of their means of livelihood. Since Orchha is a tourist place, and to sustain a means of income for the tribals , we decided to design a café for them . The main intent of this design is to establish a relationship between the past and the future of these tribals.
The site is situated on Ghats of the scenic Betwa River ,thus the whole design is centered around provision of views of the river to the users from all spaces. Natural contours of the site re used to maximum advantage to create a stepped down open seating which goes till the river water where visitors can also sit on the steps. Jaali wall has been provided in closed seating to provide visual connection while protecting from direct sunlight.
The courtyard not just acts as a gathering space bu most prevalent design features in Adivasi houses. It spaces to get natural light during the day time. Not circulating the cool breeze from the river, creating m due to convection there is a flow of hot and humid spaces to courtyard and cross ventilation occurs as w
but is one of the helps the inner t only it helps in microclimate ,but d air from inner well.
Since the site is located in heritage rich historical context, lots of vernacular elements have been replicated to create a sense of familiarity but with a modern twist. Modern materials such as glass and steel is used with stone walls. Arches have been redesigned in a minimalistic manner. Vaults and semi-covered seating are inspired from the cenotaphs.
Stone Jaali’s design is a symbolism for the previous profession of the tribals, i.e. wood collection and cattle herding in nearby forests. It is representation of their connection to nature and to their past.
View of the Central Courtyard with colonnade providing ventilation as well as acting as a gathering space for tourists.
View of the Covered Seating with jaali wall creating a play of light and shadow as well as visually connecting the inside to the river

Reforming Classrooms for Safe Reopening of Schools Competition Entry I In Pair Third Position
The world is learning to deal with the pandemic, yet the sector which the pandemic has hit most adversely is the “learning” sector. With schools and educational institutes being shut for more than a year and a half now, virtual learning and online classes have become the new normal. Humans being social animals, need human interactions for their physical and mental growth , especially at a younger age. The challenge was to come up with a strategy that allows schools to reopen safely and efficiently.
Concept
Redesigning and re-building of entire school is practically and monetarily not feasible. Thus, there is a need to t and flexible solutions. Furniture is the first thing that students come in direct contact with, thus redesigning and should be the primary concern. It needs to be easily movable, effortlessly cleanable and storage inclusive. Next is arrangement or lay outing of these furniture according to the class requirements and safety norms. S entering and leaving classrooms to be assured and regular checking for any symptoms to be monitored

SETTLEMENT STUDY Orchha, Madhya Pradesh
On Site Sketch of Raja Mahal, Orchha
The historic town of Orchha, nestled on the banks of river Betwa, was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajput Chief, Rudra Pratap. The town is steeped in history and is famous for its palaces and temples built in the 16th and 17th centuries. The architectural splendor of the monuments in Orchha reflects the glory of its rulers. Along with studying these magnificent details in forts, We studied a settlement of Adivasis (Tribals) in Singhpura village near Orchha, to understand their lifestyle and living. We measured their houses, producing drawings on site along with talking and interviewing the residents to know more about them.
Measure Drawing
The Raja Mahal (King's Palace), Orchha where the kings and the queens had resided till it was abandoned in 1783, was built in the early part of 16th century. Its exterior is simple and unembellished, but the interior chambers of the palace are elaborately royal in their architectural design, decorated with murals of social and religious themes of gods, mythical animals, and people. These 3 arches in Raja Mahal in Orchha were studied in detail, measured on site and then inked . The aim was to understand the proportion, scale, details, of elements present in the complex.
