Lumber Resources provides its customers with the highest industry standards for lumber, service and expertise. We strive to maintain the commitment and passion we have for our profession with:

The story of Lumber Resources begins with a family profession handed down from one generation to another. Philippe LeBlanc’s father Levi A. LeBlanc, a World War II veteran, owned a millwork company in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in the 1950s and 1960s. The company changed vocation over the years, from sawmill to the production of window and door sills and later to lumber distribution. Philippe literally grew up in this environment, playing in the wood shavings pile as a kid! Later, he would follow in his father’s footsteps, working in the forestry products industry.

Bass wood Basswood

Strong and flexible wood

Basswood is an ideal wood for many woodcarvers because the featureless, fine-grained, whitish wood won’t split or chip ahead of the blade. Its soft, fine, even texture makes it easy to work with, while its pale, inconspicuous colour doesn’t detract from the carved patterns of the finished product (which also makes it easier to paint and colour).

Colour: Pale white to light brown COLOUR, with sapwood and heartwood sections not clearly defined Texture: Grain is straight, with a fine, even texture and moderate natural luster. Common applications: Carvings, lumber, musical instruments (electric guitar bodies), veneer, plywood, and wood pulp and fiber products.
