The Aqeeqah is not required from the one who cannot afford it Q. I did not sacrifice any animals at the birth of my children due to the fact that I could not afford it. What is the ruling concerning this? A. There is nothing upon you as you were unable to perform this act, for Allaah The Most High says: “So fear Allaah as much as you can…” [AtTaghaabun;16] He also says: “Allaah burdens not a person beyond his scope…” [AlBaqarah: 286] The Prophet (saw) said: “If I order you with something, perform from it what you can.” For is a person is poor at the time of the birth of his children, then there is no sacrifice upon him because he is unable, as there is exemption from rituals for the unable. Sheikh Ibn Uthaimeen [Fataawa Islaamiyyah: 2/326]
