MPV Annual Report 2019

“ Within 10 years, I promise you will see the culture of human rights sprouting in the countries we work in, just in time to grasp the values that are foundational to the success of the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals.”- Ani Zonneveld

The success of our 12 years of work in the U.S. in changing hearts and minds is documented. According to a Pew survey of U.S. Muslims published in 2017, 52% of American Muslims support LGBT+ rights (up from 27% in 2007), 52% of American Muslims now believe “traditional interpretation of Islam need to be reinterpreted” for the society we live in, and 72% of American Muslims find spiritual inspiration outside the mosque. Furthermore, a New York Times op-ed titled “The Creeping Liberalism in American Islam” by Mustapha Akyol describes MPV as the “counter-culture” which has instilled fear in the traditional Muslim leaderships of the liberalism that have crept into their communities and that they feel will be a permanent shift.
