"Mother Earth" Jimmy Santiago Baca
Mother earth, give my son deep strong roots. Care for him throughout his life, give him a path filled with light, give him the courage to bear himself upright, as corn, as this spruce tree gift I offer you in thankfulness, Mother earth.
Note: This piece contains many ornamented passages; these ornaments are in part inspired by the sound of a native American flute, and should be executed with that intention in mind.
