Want to look up-to-date this season but feel lost? This is your ultimate guide to the hottest winter 2021-2022 fashion trends and how to style them.

One of the most prominent styles you’ll see this season is pleated plaid skirts, usually in jewel or darker tones. This item fits into the sort of dark academia style that seems to always come back into prominence at this time of year. This kind of skirt pairs perfectly with turtlenecks and cable knit sweaters. Add on a pair of black or tan ankle boots and an oversized long coat to compliment your cozy dark academia look.

Now you might be thinking skirts sound too cold for winter, or maybe you’re just not much of a fan. If so, I’ve got you covered. Another huge trend that you’ve probably seen if you’ve been outside at all this fall is flare jeans/ leggings. Inspired by the bell bottoms of the 70’s, these sweeping slacks give off a flirty, retro feel while flattering almost any body type. Now, what to wear with these? Well, to contrast the wide leg of the pants, you could wear a fitted long-sleeve or crop top and some platforms or high-heeled boots. Additionally, you could finish the look off with some large statement earrings or a colorful beret.

While flared pants come in and out of style, there is one winter fashion trend that’s always in vogue, no matter the decade: knitwear. Whether it’s a cozy sweater, knitted argyle dress, or even a quaint crochet tote, knitwear is a classic and essential part of anyone’s winter wardrobe. To contrast the thickness and weight of the knitwear, you should pair it with a thin, flowy fabric, such as satin. A comfortable, yet stylish winter go-to outfit could be a slim fitted satin slip dress with a large knitted overcoat. This outfit, along with the others I mentioned, will ensure you look painlessly put-together this season.

However, whatever the trends may be, you should always wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Fashion is ever-changing, so it’s important to have your own personal style that suits you.
