ServSafe is nationally recognized for food safety and sanitation and is required for all Mass. restaurants. Some concepts include: sanitation, dangers of food borne illness, keys to food safety; how to prevent crosscontamination; flow of food through the operation; using time and temperature controls; safe receiving, food storage, preparation and serving; safe cooling and reheating; pest management and prevention. The one hour exam is administered at the end of class. Upon passing, participants receive ServSafe certification valid for 5 years. Instructor: Dan Zunitch. PSAT/NMSQT

Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test This test is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance as a junior to enter NMSC scholarship programs and for all to gain access to college and career planning tools. ServSafe Recertification Review and Exam

Review key components of the ServSafe materials, followed by the certification exam. Students should study course material on their own. Study guide and practice exams provided prior to class. Bring completed practice exams to class. Students may purchase the ServSafe Essentials textbook in the bookstore, but it is not required. This course is for experienced food service professionals who have previously passed the ServSafe exam and whose certification has expired or is about to expire. Preparing for Communication and Literacy Skills Test (CLST) Portion of the MA Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) MA law requires candidates for initial educator licensure to meet several requirements including passing a test of Communication and Literacy Skills. The CLST must be taken and passed before a student is accepted into a four-year Early Childhood or Elementary Education Program. LOCAL ANESTHESIA for Registered Dental Hygienists- Burbank Campus

This 28 hour (lecture and clinical) training course is intended to prepare the Massachusetts registered dental hygienist for the “L” permit Northeast Regional Board Examination in local anesthesia administration. This course is in compliance with the regulation 234 CMR 3.09-3.14 of the Board of Registration in Dentistry, Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This course will include medical history evaluation procedures, physical evaluation of the dental patient, pharmacology of local anesthetics and vasoconstrictors, anatomy of the head and neck, indications and contraindications for administration of local anesthetics, selection and preparation of the armamentaria, record keeping, medical and legal management of complications, infection control and disposal of sharps, administration techniques and safe dosage and management of diagnosis, prevention and treatment of medical emergencies. Complete this course to receive a Massachusetts State Police Basic Firearms Safety Certificate, required for application submission to local firearms licensing authorities in Massachusetts (specifically for License to Carry A, B or Firearms Identification Cards). Hypnosis for Weight Loss

Photography Photography for Beginners, Digital or Film

New digital or film photographers will learn to get the most out of their camera by improving technical/compositional skills. We will discuss film and digital photography and the differences, learning how to use the various creative controls on both cameras. We will focus on f stops and shutter speeds, making visually exciting photo compositions, making great flash pictures, and using basic equipment for studio quality pictures. Little Fit

Check out our fall schedule for our Little Fit child and parent /child classes. Little Fit classes are developed to bring fitness to children ages 8-12 years old. Our mission to promote an active lifestyle and increase selfconfidence. Each 45 minute class will consist of a warm up and cool down which will include stretching and core strength. This class is filled with fun and dynamic circuits to keep kids and parents active for the class.

Masters Swim Team

The Greenwood Masters swim team, coached by MWCC Aquatics Director David C. Graham, meets 5-6 times per week. Two coached workouts are available Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings, written workouts are available at other practice times. This program requires membership at the Fitness and Wellness Center and is appropriate for all levels of adult swimmers, from competitive swimmers to triathletes to those just wanting to improve their technique. Wilderness and Remote First Aid Training

This American Red Cross course is intended to teach basic wilderness first aid training to participants who frequently enjoy the outdoors. Whether you’re an avid hiker or paddler, if you spend time in the wilderness, knowing what to do in an emergency will better prepare you for travel in the backcountry. GED Testing Registration Registration must be done in person. The full test fee of $65 must be paid at the time of registration. Cash, check, money order, or vouchers may be used for payment. Testing fees are nonrefundable.* *Students who fail to show up for their scheduled exam will be charged $25 for each test they miss.

Age Requirements Students must be at least sixteen years of age to register. Students under age eighteen must provide a letter from the last school they attended. They must also have a parent or guardian sign a verification of eligibility form.

Other Requirements Proper ID is required: either a current driver’s license or government photo ID. All registrations for re-test must also be in person. The fee for re-tests is $15 each; this fee is also non-refundable. The test is available in English and Spanish on a limited basis. A large print version is also available in English. Students must request the large print version in advance. Limited copies are available. Persons with a 8

disability who may require accommodations to participate in a fair testing session should contact the GED chief examiner at 978-630-9173 to determine eligibility. Requests should be made prior to registering for any test session.

Adult Basic Education & GED Preparation The Regional Adult Education Center at MWCC offers Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED preparation, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Classes are free of charge through funding from the Massachusetts Department of Education, Employment Links, and the Robinson Broadhurst Foundation.
