Accreditation Mount Wachusett Community College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., a non-governmental, nationally recognized organization whose affiliated institutions include elementary schools through collegiate institutions offering post-graduate instruction. Accreditation of an institution by the New England Association indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer group review process. An accredited school or college is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation. Accreditation by the New England Association is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of the quality of every course of program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution. Inquiries regarding the status of an institution’s accreditation by the New England Association should be directed to the administrative staff of the school or college. Individuals may also contact the Association directly.

Transfer Services If your educational goal is to transfer to a baccalaureate degree granting institution, you should make an appointment with a transfer advisor early in your educational career. For more information, call (978) 630-9321. Academic Placement Assessments All newly accepted students may be required to have their academic skills assessed. Assessments will be required in reading, sentences skills, written essay, and mathematics/algebra/college level math. Each assessment will take approximately 30 minutes with results available immediately. Assessment results will be used by an academic advisor to assist the student in developing an educational/career plan. Completion of RDG099, RDG100, ENG100, MAT090, MAT092 or MAT096 may be required prior to enrollment in college-level courses. Students needing to take any placement assessments may call (978) 630-9244. TEAS Test Requirement for Practical Nursing and Nursing Programs Effective May 1, 2008, students wishing to enter the college’s Practical Nursing (PN) or Nursing (NU) programs, must take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) test. The test is administered in the assessment services office at the Gardner Campus only. Please call (978) 630-9244 for more information about the exam and to schedule your appointment. Please note, the TEAS test costs $50. Career Services and Assessments Career decisions are complex and challenging and require access to information about yourself and the workplace. The first step in the career development process involves the assessment of your skills, interests, abilities, and personal style, which are some of the formal measurements that can enhance self-knowledge. Career assessment is an important step in setting meaningful academic goals. The assessment and career services staff can assist students in learning more about themselves and various career opportunities. For more information about the career assessments or college career counselor assistance call (978) 630-9568.
