Greyhounds are depicted as trusty companions on funerary monuments and frescoes.

In medieval manuscripts, murals and paintings, greyhounds &whippets appear in hunting scenes, at court banquets and going walkies. In the Victorian age, a greyhound was a must for the Victorian man about town. A glance at old albums reveal loving pictures of pet sighthounds.

While greyhounds never encounter any other dog breeds during their racing career, they get along with other dogs. Bred as athletes, greyhounds are extremely healthy but disposed of after 3-4 years of racing. Unlike other breeds, greyhounds are not predisposed to geneticallycarried conditions.

Black greyhounds are the last adopted and the first on kill lists, simply because they are hard to photograph. In the age of social media and sharing, ex-racers die because they are not photogenic!
