concept. Billiards is a cue sport in which players use cue sticks to strike balls against each other or into pockets around the edge of the table. Billiards began in the 15th century as a lawn game similar to croquet. The game integrates various materials within its required items. The triangular pool rack can be made of wood, plastic, or metal. Billiard balls are made of phenolic resin or polyester. Historically, the balls were made of ivory. The cue sticks consist of wood, graphite, and fiberglass. The table can be made of wood or slate with rubber cushions + leather pockets. The tabletop incorporates woven wool or a woolnylon blend.
