review
Fisherman’s Village BY RICKY CHAO Located on the corner of Waizayandar and Laydaukkan Road in Thingangyun, Fisherman’s Village is ready to fulfill the needs of all Yangon seafood enthusiasts. This newcomer is ready to compete with an already strong list of great seafood choices in the city. Get excited, seafood lovers! The décor of the restaurant is comfort and simple, but with extravagant entrance. As you enter the restaurant, it’s traditionally oriented with large tables and two VIP rooms, which can seat up to 10 people. Its dim lighting creates a relaxing and comforting environment for diners. From every table, you have a great view of the chef and his assistants working hard in the kitchen. The restaurant offers a wide variety of mouthwatering Chinese and Thai dishes. We started off the dinner with grilled seashell clams (9,000 Ks) accompanied with their signature seafood spicy sauce. We were pleasantly surprised with the freshness. Next one is their most popular dish, Seafood Platter (15,500 Ks). This colorful dish includes yellow fin tuna, crab, squid, bamboo clam, river prawns, tiger shrimps and lobsters. Again, everything on the platter was ultra fresh. The highlight of the meal was River Prawn Butter (11,000 Ks). The dish was prepared perfectly, and the golden color of deep fried prawns with the green color of curry leaves made it a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. The combination of sweetness and saltiness from the butter was just the right amount. The serving was big and it was well worth it. Another dish worth trying was a local favorite called Masala Shrimp (14,500 Ks). It was seasoned well with Thai masala, coconut juice and chili. It’s very clear that freshness is at the center of everything they cook here. Although they currently don’t have a cocktail menu, the pineapple juice we ordered blended well with the seafood. Overall, the dining experience at Fisherman’s Village was wonderful and highly satisfying. Adding the pleasant and warm attentive service from the staff, you have a great restaurant to take your friends and family for a treat. Address: #002-003, Corner of Waizayandar & Laydaukkan Rd, Waizayandar Road, Thingangyun Township, Yangon. Phone: 09 775 035521 Opening Hours: 10:00AM — 11:00PM
new opening
Sabai Dee Restaurant New Thai Eatery in Ahlone
A new Thai restaurant "Sabai Dee" has recently opened to offer contemporary Thai dishes mixed with Asian fusion to meet with local tastes. The restaurant is situated nearby downtown, Alone Township. As I entered the place, cheerful staff welcomed me. They seem attentive and ready to explain everything you want to explore about Sabai Dee. At Sabai Dee, the staff knows what is your desire and they tend to recommend the suitable dish that matches your preference. The restaurant is all white with a big golden arch at the entrance and inside. You will notice the cleanliness of the restaurant. The space is airconditioned to keep customers out of heat and enjoy the food in peace. Also, the restaurant has made the menu in affordable prices. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. They include the local favourites Chinese related Thai dishes. Thai Chicken Sartae is their customer’s favourite. Their signature dish is Garden Delight, which is tom-yum fried rice. However, they presented it with a coriander leaf. The dish looks like a flowerpot. Customers get to dig and mix the pot to blend the taste of the fried rice with the aroma of coriander leaf. All the products were fresh and the dishes gave the warmth of homemade food. The chefs take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients. Most of the ingredients are imported from Thailand and Singapore. Despite the small space parking, I had a pleasant dining experience with the best service due to patient waiters with food of exquisite flavours.
